  • You can Learn a simple golf swing with these two easy moves www.theartofsimplegolf.com
    If you want more accuracy, ball striking consistency and even an increase of distances then you want to learn a golf swing that you can rely on and one that does not require dozens of swing thoughts because if you are thinking about positions, rotating, hinging, pivoting and so forth, you chances of actually executing a good shot is beyond realistic.
    So we must keep the swing thoughts, (if any at all are required) to a bare minimum and this simple golf swing lesson will do just that.
    We all have a dominant side so our golf swing struggles because of it. It can cause you to be off a natural plane, whip the club on the inside and come over the top and reduce power too!
    But there is good way to combat a dominant sided golf swing and have an easy to execute action to play better golf with and this two step swing has helped many folks so it's worth a try to see how it works for you.
    It's as simple as getting into a good address position with a solid grip.
    Focus on the direction and shot shape you want.
    Now with your lead arm (my left arm) you want to feel like you are pushing the club away. it's still feeling like both hands to push away from your target and in sync with your hips and belly button.
    Now into transition...
    Feel like you are pulling through. Not down at the ball but through to the target.
    This is to take you though to a full finish.
    With this simple golf swing of 2 parts, your timing and rhythm should be just smooth and consistent and even try counting the "1- 2" for the smooth effortless swing you want!
    Enjoy and please give this a try.
    This is Golf. Simplified.

    I'm a six handicap because I chip and putt well and hit my driver long. But I'm every where with it, my irons are poor at best but I manage to hit a lot if great shots as well. No consistency what so ever, every day and every swing is a new idea, been playing for years and just can't get it.
    Tried your push pull method and it was like magic, like a light came on, I could feel the point of the pushing to be a single motion with your body rotating with no extra lower body motion, very centered and coiled. With the pull on the downswing it engages the lower body and you get a great hip rotation into the ball. After one range session its incredible. Just what I needed, it changed my entire understanding of my swing. Great stuff.

    Wow. Never heard of pulling with the right arm, but that really helped. Before this lesson I was suffering with really bad play and had two rounds where I can safely say I didn't strike a single ball well. First round after this lesson: 19 well struck balls. Added accuracy and distance, smash factor.

    Great job as always. I've always liked the left side push back, but I have to leave the right side passive to get the benefit from it. The right side pull works for me when I feel like my right elbow is sort of leading the way and staying underneath my left arm starting down. It's funny how people feel many different things in a swing - and they can all potentially work. Must be tough to teach golf!

  • @funkete9
    @funkete9 Рік тому +1

    As always, clear and to the point advice! Thanks! I have been thinking about trying to play left handed out of intuition, since on the right handed swing the dominant hand is the left, as you well say here. I understand the “push with the left” concept, however, “pull with the right” escapes me, since the right hand is behind the club, and by definition, you should be ahead of the thing that you want to pull. In my case, my best swing are those where my right hand remains neutral or “dead”, and everything is guided by the left hand. So, in my case, I think it’s push and pull, but with the left hand in both cases.

    I am going through your old videos and cam across this one. You have described me to a tee. Not over the top but I hit with the right hand and so I have no left side and hence I chicken wing. Since watching your videos of late, I now try to think left side throughout the swing. I have found that this allows for a better path and follow through. Hitting with the right also makes the release difficult. I wish I had known about the Left hand swing for a right handed golfer when i first started. I can swing much better left handed. I release the club better and transfer weight better. I am now too old to change. Oh what we could have done with hindsight.

      What’s wonderful and yet stupid about the golf swing is feel vs real… and it changes / evolves and the key is to evolve with it.

    I had this swing and lost it because I didn't understand how I was doing it! when I lost it I thought I had to pull with my left arm? Very good explanation. I went to my return net and I'm getting a consistent swing speeds 95-97MPH with a six iron! Amazing how pulling with your right arm ( side) turns your body naturally firing your left hip through the ball first and you replace your left shoulder position with your right shoulder. This is the first teaching I've seen that explains how to swing a golf club that works ( with simplicity ) Thanks!

    NOW I understand the struggle to neutralize my arms. None of the 6 teachers I’ve had or mountains of reading & videos ever pointed this out. My actual swing notes have the “push/pull” thought, but this explains the subconscious struggle that I’ve been trying to decipher. Like the Phil comment, you actually need to switch dominant side. The only way I could play golf is to change to left hand pushing and pulling. It felt weird at the beginning but after a while I started to enjoy my golf. But for whatever reason I started golfing right as a kid. Am 41 now and have always played mediocre golf with average power. Your shots describe mine. It is scary to think that I need to do this, to switch after so many years. Let me know would appreciate and how long did it take to make the transition?

      @@JohnnyLREACTS Before switching completely to the left hand golf, try to play "right handed" way but EXECUTE you shots with the back of the palm of the left hand (swinging from right to left) using right hand only to support the club. This is what I do and play a bit more enjoyable - however shorter by about 10 yards, golf. All the best.

    Hi Alex, love the drill, it feels so powerful. The only question I have is that all the lessons I have ever had say pull down with the left hand because using the right leads to an over the top downswing. Do you have any thoughts? Thankyou Peter

    • @TheArtofSimpleGolf
      @TheArtofSimpleGolf  8 років тому +2

      Either can work. Each golfer will respond slightly differently. THe key is to not pull at the ball but pull towards the target and release like you would trowing a ball or skimming a stone.

    You Know I have been playing golf off and on for over 40 odd years. i have never had a lesson, but managed to hold onto my 13 handicap.
    I was told that the left hand is dominant for right handed golfers! I had a nightmare in my last game of golf and was ready to chuck it!
    Then I received this pop up of your blog on my laptop, I went to the field and followed your instructions -Wow - what I have missed all these years! Many, many Thanks!!!!

    This is going to sound extreme, but this is the best tip I have ever had for my swing. I have great coordination. But I'm streaky. I can get hot & shoot a 72 one day, then the next day I will shoot a 90. The problem has always been that I hook the ball off the tee and my approach shots, and I will put up a big number on a hole. I might go Par, Birdie, Par, then I will hook one OB, and put up an 8. I have tried everything, change my grip (Made it weak), ball position, watch my swing path, choked up, opened my stance, etc.. I even gave up on hitting driver, & would just hit a 3 wood, or a 2 iron off the tee, just to stay away from the big number. This tip is awesome. It takes all of the thinking out of your head when I'm over the ball, and by pushing the club back with my left hand, (I'm right-handed), on the backswing and just letting my right arm almost go limp, it naturally squares the clubface, and slows down my backswing. then pushing it with my right arm has created solid, straight & high shots.

      Well that is a common struggle for too many golfers and I am very glad to hear tha this has helped already. Keeping it simple and really allowing yourself to react instinctively to shots is key too. Hope you can visit he site and the group on facebook too.

      This may help/ ua-cam.com/video/j63Bn00JbQ0/v-deo.html Also, it sound daft, but just ry and practice hitting fades. If you remain focused on the feel of the golf shot you want to hit, your body will respond:)

    • @thomasfraser9072
      @thomasfraser9072 4 роки тому

      Strongly suggest you stop rolling your hands in any golf swing. Push back with the lead hand and then on your downswing push forward with your trail right hand all the way to your finish. Every thing should move altogether in a golf swing. As you push back with the left side of your body and then push forward with the right side of your body It is that simple. I promise

    I'm technically left handed, using it for writing, throwing a ball, tennis and bowling. But I have golfed right handed for over 50 years, and also bat at baseball and shoot a shotgun right handed. I'm very right eye dominant. (It's weird being me.) A few comments and questions. Sometimes I do swing better pushing back with my left arm as you show. But doesn't the downswing start not with a PULL of the right but actually a reverse PUSH with the right? Also because my left hand is dominant, as I stand as a righty golfer, should I start my backswing PULLING with my right, then on downswing push/pull with my left? (As I said It's hard to be me). I'm also a Doctor/Surgeon and my friends tell me to quit analytical thinking and swing. Thanks for any feedback. Love your videos

    Answer me this. I am right arm dominant. Very dominant. Play tennis as well with right arm so it is built up more over the left. As you say about Michelson, that he has an advantage, well I want that advantage as well. Canadian as well, I play hockey left handed, most do. For whatever reason when I was young I wanted handed a right handed set and never questioned it. I am accurate to hit the ball, but lack power, weak fade slice being the culprit. The right arm always wanting to take over. Ugh. Also noticed on film the other day that I have very little lower body activity to generate more power. I would say, in hockey, I understand how to generate power for the slap shot with legs its just more natural. At 41 years old is it too late to switch to lefty like Phil?? This would put dominant arm as lead arm not trail arm, and really slinging the club through impact better (I would imagine).

    For me, the push and pull comes from shoulder rotation. When left shoulder rotates to right, then it's pull motion. When right shoulder rotates to left, it's a push motion.

    Alex! I've been a subscriber for a while and today I came across this 5+ year video of yours on something I began researching. After viewing this video, I told myself that is simple enough. When putting, I push the putter back with the left arm and then on rebound, I push with the right. It works with putting, why not in the longer swing. I'll definitely be trying this concept out!

    Hi Alex, after a lot of research and study of biomechanics, people have concluded that if you are right arm dominant it would make more sense to pull and push. If you push with your right arm on the downswing, you generate as much as 15% more club head speed. It also promotes better control of the club face as the right palm should be parallel to the club face. What are your thoughts on this?

    • @TheArtofSimpleGolf
      @TheArtofSimpleGolf  6 років тому +3

      Álvaro Ybáñez that for sure can work. This is mainly to keep folks from whipping the club inside. What you state can certainly work very effectively . Each golfer need to find their feel. It may not last forever either. Thanks so much for input and enjoy the site and channel

    I tried this and it did not start working until I started folding the right arm correctly in the back swing. I had to make sure in the back swing that my right elbow is pointing down at the ground. After I started focusing on folding the right arm correctly I was smoking my shots!

      If you can find a good instructor you've found something rare indeed.

      Practise your golf swing in slow motion
      Position your feet correctly
      discover the correct body posture

      Eranga Hanshani Then please answer this question for me. Why is it that guys will get down on their knees with NO FEET or NO legs, and hit the ball straight and a mile down the fairway??? I'm glad those things helped you for sure, but the secret for every player is so different depending on what they were doing wrong to begin with or the body type they have to use in the first place don't you think??..I'm a 4 handicap and the secret to golf changes for me every month or every week as we get off course with what WAS working great. This game is just miserably difficult to be great at, but easy to just go have some fun. I like the last option the best since I can't seem do the first one...

    When you realize golf is a backhanded game it becomes more or less obvious the left side should run the show.
    Trying to pull at the ball with the right arm can be tricky, because since the right hand/arm is our dominant one we tend to jerk with the right arm causing over the top moves.
    One good drill I like to get the feeling for the swing is making swings with the left arm only as you did in the video, but also hit balls like that. It makes you swing within yourself so you don't lose balance and also gives you a very smooth rythm.

      If you realize the lead side is "boss" in the swing, " you are some one in my books!" Push and pullers have a two way miss! Those who's lead side is pulling into impact zone and slightly past will have one miss! A blocked or slightly pushed shot! Easily corrected and still a playable shot in most cases! Imo

    The reason I think this game is so hard is we all have muscle memory if we've played any amount of time. And it can take 300-500 swings before a new (correct) move takes hold. And 90% of us don't have the patience for that. So the first or second time it doesn't work we give up on it and try something else. So we always struggle.

    • @stephenolder4552
      @stephenolder4552 7 років тому +1

      Definitely true, but I think the other thing is there is so many things to think about in your swing and form that it can be hard to keep it all in mind, especially during mid swing. It also doesn't help that somethings change depending on the club, which gives you more to keep in mind. Such a simple of a concept of a game yet so much to it.

    • @DribblyDik
      @DribblyDik 6 років тому

      There is no such thing as muscle memory. Its the sub-conscious mind you're referring to. It takes an awful amount of repetitions whilst the conscious mind is engaged for it then to become a sub-conscious movement.
