Great Video Laurie! Like everyone else I know, I amvery excited to get swinging these new coils. My coils will be used for beach hunting in sites that I have already cleared with the standard coils. All the best!
They are awesome! Super sensitive! I found an itty bitty piece of trade silver with the 14x9.. So much fun to have these extra tools! Many women's dilemma is what shoes to wear today.. For me it's what coils will I dress up the equinox with today 😆
It does get more depth and it helps to give a more accurate target ID on the deep stuff. It’s heavier than the stock coil so watch your swinging technique. Since the Equinox is so light I found myself holding up the machine. Once I had the big coil, it was important for me to keep my elbow in and balance the weight in my hand instead of holding it up to swing. I can swing it 4-5 hours before I get fatigued. Holding it up 1-2 hours lol. I’m considering the sling for long hunts with it.
@@RelicDirtyhands Hi Laurie, have you considered using the Minelab Pro Swing 45 harness? I bought one because I'm getting up in age and I have a few health issues that restrict me from doing too much physical activity, it really helps me to be able to swing for longer periods of time without becoming fatigued. If you like swinging the 15" coil, maybe you can look into getting one. It's not cumbersome to me, it fits nicely and is a real arm saver. I swing the NOX 900 with the 11" coil and can hardly tell it's there. I did purchase the second side bar so as to have 1 on each side to balance it out. I hope this helps. Happy Hunting!!
@@RelicDirtyhands without a doubt it will help greatly, when adjusted properly all you have to do is direct the coil where you want it to go, and the harness carries all the weight. I absolutely Love mine. Did you also purchase the opposite side bar? It definitely helps to balance it out. I'm trying to save enough to get the 14"x9", I'm retired and on a fixed income, it may take a while. lol Happy Hunting!!
@@CapnDanTreasures No, you’re the first person that mentioned getting the other bar, I may have to try that ☺️ I really loved the 14x9, for a long time it was my preferred coil. Coils are expensive but it is really nice to have the extra tools. I’ve been using the Manticore for a while now with just the stock coil. I’m so happy because I just received the M8 and M15. I missed having additional coils when I needed them.
I'm going to order the little guy ☺ The 6" is already my go to coil so it's sort of my obvious choice that the 10x5 will be perfect as the middle child of my coil set 👍
You will fall in love with the 10x5.. I have the 6 as well. I love how easy the 10x5 is to overlap your swings! Amazing separation and sensitivity! I Love how you see your coils as a family ha ha love it!
I Love how helpful all your videos are on all things equinox. I have been waiting for the coiltek 14 x 9 to come back into stock and wonder which I would prefer more the smaller or the 14 x 9 . Thanks for useful info to help in my choice. Just one question for you, if the 14 x 9 is weighted do you feel it is a little on the heavy side.
Hello Diana, I do and I don’t depending on my location and how many targets there is.. on flat ground, grass and sand, I can scrub the coil on the ground for 5 plus hour hunt, without feeling the coils weight. I noticed in the woods or cut stubble farm fields. I had to hold up my coil above the not so even ground.. this is when I found that I couldn’t swing as long. The Equinox being such a light machine, you will notice a weight difference but it’s how you swing and the conditions of the site that makes the difference. It’s turned out to be my favourite coil to use ☺️.. I can’t say if it’s heavy as everyone’s tolerance, sites and techniques are different. For me I know I can hunt 4-5 hours in uneven terrain and longer on flat ground. I’m really looking forward to water hunting with it.. all my coils would float up but this one will be much easier to swing ☺️..
Thanks for your videos. I already have the minelab 6" coil, being a nugget hunter it gives me great sensitivity on tiny gold, I would love to gain some extra coverage with the 10"x5" coil, sensitivity wise how does it compare to the 6". Obviously I would expect some loss of sensitivity, but how much and how does it compare to the stock 11" coil. Sorry I may be asking how long is a piece of string.
I never compared the 6 and 10x5, the 11” is definitely deeper but is it as sensitive?. I tested both small coils on a small gold earring I had, both seemed to have similar depth and sensitivity.. it’s so hard to say but I can tell you the coverage you get with the 10x5 is a lot easier compared to the 6”.. ☺️👍
Great information video, when do you think they will be available in Canada, I ordered a 14x9 2 month ago. I guess there is a long list of people asking for them. Wish you a great 2021 metal detecting season.
like your video was hearing a lot about these coils and im going to get the smaller one to complement my other minelab coils are they plug and play or do you have to reset the detector before you use them after changing coils as i have all my coils own their own bottom shaft for quick changeover
Just bought a EQU - 800 . Wo USJ these could be available in Malaysia. As I bought it a agent in Kl city . I am definitely steering towards the 15 inch coil 🤩👍
I recently purchased the 10x5 for my Nox. Do you have any pinpointing tips for this coil ? Does it pinpoint dead center or does it pinpoint off of the toe of the coil ? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Jim
@@RelicDirtyhands Thanks for the reply. That's what I figured but I was having some issues pinpointing on center. In all honesty I haven't given it a fair test yet in the field. After I test it properly I'll let you know what I think. Thanks again, Jim
You said the 14x9 would be a good coil to use on plowed fields. Have you tried the 15” coil at all? Was there a difference? Currently I’m in the market to either purchase the 15 or the 14 x 9. I don’t water hunt at all so I could really care less about the weighted 14 x 9 coil because I know the 15 inch is lighter than a 14 x 9 but I was not sure if it performed just as good on plowed or if it’s more of a pasture open land type coil to where there’s less air in the dirt.
I've used both on the ploughed field.. Our field has a lot of iron as there used to be a tavern. Personally I preferred the 14x9 but I can swing it for about an hour less than the 15.. I Liked how it maneuvered over the rows of ploughed field.. I did notice a difference but again it was more about separation than anything else on this field.. But the 15 is deeper! They are both great coils...
