- Face to face with Chris Cornell and Ben Sheperd to find out what's behind Soundgarden's clamorous comeback and to have some sneak preview of "King Animal", the first studio album after "Down On The Upside" (1996), in stores from November 13th. The frontman and the bassist of the great band from Seattle examine the contemporary rock scene and tell us why they broke up 15 years ago.
Ben Shephred is a legend. .
That's the most I've ever seen Ben talk...ever. I thought he was mute. Glad to see this kats back. Long time due.
This is a hell of an interview--Ben definitely says some cool stuff about age and life, and the void they talk about in rock music is described in a very apt manner.
Man... Chris Cornell is so fucking cool. I wish he was still alive. 😭😭😭😭😭
We all do 🥲🥲🥲🥲 legends never die. CC imo
Wil and always be the man with the best voice past present future

OMG I STILLLLLL CANNNNOT STOP MISSING HIM!!! His death has affected me like NO OTHER- it’s CRAAAZY!😭
chris cornell is one of the all-time great rock frontmen.
Absolutely
I love Ben’s take on life with aging. I’m about to be 43 and have no domestic responsibilities (no wife or kids). I enjoy my life and still feel like I’m in my late teens or early 20s, probably due to never having taken the domestic leap. Life for me consists of working 40 hours, having fun on the weekends, and listening to Soundgarden and Alice In Chains. Fuck everything else. None of us are promised another day. Might as well enjoy.
I hear you. Freedom is sacred. But loneliness does kill too. Sigh, we're complex
From Morocco, im like you my friend, these questions always come to my mind ,im now 44 years old , i listen to all kinds of rock music and i love soundgarden very much ,i feel that i want to remain a teenager, and in my teenage years in the 90 s, i wanted to grow up , i don't wear classic clothes, i always wear crazy and grunge clothes , i feel a maturity different from others , i mean the usual social maturity , but i always say that i only have a few years left and i will have completed half a century and when i talk to a girl and she tells me that she is 28 years old, im surprised because she seems to me physically old and mature i mean close to my age, then at that moment i know the year of her birth and i think that year i was listening to rock music and i smoke weed and i drink whisky and beer and im well aware of what is happening around me and what are my ambitions and steps in my future life , if God prolongs our lives, we will miss our forties when we reach our sixties and seventies ,just live your life and make the most of your time , memories are in a river that flows into the ocean of forgetfulness .💗🎶👍
@@user-ut3zt2xl3ythere’s a balance tho. Live your life and be true to yourself, whatever that entails, but also don’t live in an imaginary land where everything changes but you. You’re NOT a teenager or even a 30-something anymore. Aging doesn’t mean stopping what you love and getting a mortgage, but you ideally do want to mature and become wiser. No one wants to be that Steve Buschemi meme. When people see you, they see a guy in his 40s, dressing like a teen.
I will never lose my passion for Chris Cornell's music, never ♥️
Same here never ever ever
This is so depressing now. I remember when I saw it years ago and I felt the opposite of the pain I feel now. Goodbye Chris, you will always be the best brother
Ben is the man
LOVE the age analogy.
Ben is such a smart guy and what a cool underrated, underplayed song
isolated and connected....hmmm wow well put, iam sooooo fkn sad and sick chris is gone I can't imagine how those close to him are dealing I'm sure as best they can he was a true treasure and there will never be another in my lifetime
I sometimes think about what music would have been like if Jimi didn't die so young. I wonder what other things he had in store. I now think the same about Chris, what other songs did he have waiting that we'll never hear? So damn sad.
What an edgy twat. "I don't like something so it's gay and dumb"
Jacob Aguilera so you will deny somebody's talent because they used it in a way you don't like?
Jimi actually died young but I feel like Chris was able to produce lots of material that spans 3 decades.
Still heartbroken 2020
RIP Chris, gone too soon.
People are Isolatedly connected to each other!
King Animal is a great album
An artist and a hero, spectacular.
Interesting stuff, part of the problem with modern music is that the internet has allowed everyone to exist and have something resembling a career but bands don't really get huge anymore. Which is a shame because those massive movements are what inspire people and change the world. And they're fun! Now the only thing that is massive is chart music, endlessly refined and formulated, for ever-increasingly beautiful robots to sing along to.
I get you. I miss the whole eras of music before the internet but I also think it's a good idea that everyone now can have a career. Imagine if the era today is pop or techno-pop stuff and you're not into it. You know that there are existing rock bands that you can find just because of the internet
Maybe Ben is the wost interviewer ever but I love him so much (and his shoes too).. I like the way they talk together their relationship, love these 2 guy.. Chris I miss you so so much
We love you Chris your a legend Ben speaking facts love you guys so much
Miss you guys like no other!!! Rest in peace Chris.....Ben, keep rocking with the boys please!
Ben was always my fav........always
his contributions to the Soundgarden oevre are undeniable....some of their best songs.
Yes, thank God SG is back!
Wow great interview. Thank you so much for posting this.
happy happy joy joy glad there back
Took the words right out of my mouth.
Ben Sheperd turned into a hot older man.
and "few" pounds heavier
he was kinda hot when he was young too tho
Great Interview
I always knew Ben was the true PNW lumberjack of the crew!
Fantastic insight - and great points of view.
The greatest
Also the Internet comment about how it makes us isolated-ly connected to each other.
i love how dry chris' humor is
Que homem lindo! Chris que saudades!
this is just a great interview in general.
Chris describing what the song "Been Away too Long" means = hilarious. My God what an awful question!
wise words
Ben is very handsome 😍
Its just funny to see them ignore the real issue that Ben felt Alienated Chris makes a point about the staleness of touring and then two seconds later claims touring was fun and stuff.
That’s Chris. Always trolling interviewers.
"you can be any age and younger at anytime" except when it comes to who you date :p
ghostwhiskey sounds like you might’ve been getting the same vibe I was when Ben gave his age speech. Dude struck me as kind of creepy.
It depends:If you're full of money It's ok to have a girl 20yh younger than you
Ben reminds me of Sabertooth and I love his ageless statement.
Ben looks like Michael de santa
this is great but, why does it cut to their shoes occasionally?
ben got really deep with that ancient/youthful shit. my mind just shit my brain pants...
Anyone else noticed Chris' similarity to Jeff Goldblum?
My son loves this song from watching a marvel as a lil boy
you know what? i like live to rise.i don't care. maybe it doesn't deserve to be under the soundgarden moniker but it's still a decent radio rocker.
0:24 song name??
props to Radiohead, very cool
tuesdays with Morrie. I wonder when he read it.
This is the first time I've ever seen grey hair on Chris. Wouldn't be surprised if he colored it a lot.
Jamie Craighead I noticed the same. He's like 48/49 here so he looked pretty damn good.
@@MustObeyTheRules I Totally Agree 100%
Beautiful Man.
1:45 is so eery to watch now, who knows what was going through Chris' mind when he decided to hang himself, I think it was a combination of depression, being on anxiety medication, stress, and struggling from relapsing in his addictions, Chris was a tortured soul who faced many demons, he is finally at peace now, many prayers and condolences to his wife and children who have to deal with the aftermath of his death, the focus in on raising those children now, nevertheless Chris touched countless lives and his music will live on forever, Rest in Peace
Justice for Chris CORNELL'. He was Murdered. Rip Our Beautiful Rock Legend. Never Be Another Like Him
Love and Miss you Forever.
@Tararyze 11 Well Said
Chris died clean. Remember that. He took his life because he was miserable.
@@gingerdoll wake the fuck up, he was clean and Murdered!
@Tararyze 11 truth!
the video title should be "sometimes we retire".hoaxed out!
I wish they had been a bit more underground on the comeback and not attached themselves to a holywood shitfest crap party film
chris mentions no one is taking the baton and running with it, Chevelle is some sh*t to be reckoned with. though they may not rock the foundation like nirvana or be a commercial jaugernaut showing up at the music awards(which in todays shallow world is a credit not a slight) they have a perfect balance of innovation, consistency, band identity, depth, energy, talent, integrity (they don't make sacharine garbage) and topical appeal to be the best band ( besides foo fighters and alice in chains who are tethered at the waist to the 90s associativly) to carry rock to the next level.
who??
Lol hell no
Chevelle? That's interesting. I used to be a major fan of them, I liked how most people didn't know who they were and that also meant they'd play at smaller venues. I even got to meet them and have a setlist signed from them. Regardless of that, I don't really think they're a force to be reckoned with.
Chevelle kicked ass
New song is dreadful but happy 2 c them bk regardless
All of Soundgarden is a bit of a higher IQ. You can hear it when they speak.
Man bun. Hahaha!!!!!
And a fine one at that. What a beautiful man
I love a man that can rock a man bun
Is it me or is Chris morphing into Jeff Goldbloom.
soundgarden are great but this Avengers song is rubbish.
not true
@@harrisongwin6859 tis troo
I have dude with Chris Cornell's suicide ! 🤔
How stoned are you? Sunglasses indoors stoned...lol
Not stoned enough
I'm that person who wears sunglasses indoors. Helps ease me from social interaction.
Before you jump to that conclusion, he was also prone to migraines.
Spashaei He wore wear contacts most of the time. Maybe his eyes needed a rest. Probably prescription sunglasses
