Don't really understand why anyone would be against water swatting. It's like saying that they only shoot at running deer and never take standing broadside shots... makes no sense. A water swat is generally a quick ethical kill with less chance of meat waste. Looks like it was a great hunt with a good buddy. Congrats!
No shame in shooting them on the water. It’s hunting. They live on water. I was more worried you’d hit the mojo next to it if you shot it on the water.
Yeah, I'd probably waterswat that teal. They always come in so low and fast. Shooting them on the water isn't my preferred way to shoot a duck, but even less preferred is shooting at the backside of a duck, which happens a lot when scaring them up.
That smile of yours is contagious man! To have that kind of a genuine grin on your face first thing in the morning at o'dark thirty means you truly love what your doing. I always like your videos. I hope you make many, many more.
I’ve watched several videos of other hunters shooting birds on the water. I agree with the comment that big game hunters don’t always shoot their game on the run! Most are shot while standing broadside, several even while laying down! Take advantage of the easy positions because just getting a bird into the spread means you did everything right
Looks like a fun hunt. So much more satisfying video rather than watching 9 or 10 guys pounding 20-30 shots at the 3 ducks that come in, then hi-fives congrats on the "great" shooting. Uggh. Hunting solo or with 1 or 2 other guys makes for a much more entertaining video and a much more satisfying and leisurely hunt. Well done.
It's snowed here this morning in north Louisiana. And the ducks came with it there's couple thousand where I hunt. Mallards gadwall pintail teal woodies spoonies black jacks I mean you can kill any duck out there and there's plenty. I'm excited for Saturday it finally opens and its gonna be the best opener we've had in years
plenty of other ducks respond to calls, we shoot mostly divers and they almost always change their direction to come into our decoys. you don't get any vocal response the way you can with mallards but you do get to drop a lot of birds
Out here in California when hunting public land it is vital to wear a facemask or paint, also to have excellent concealment. When birds see a face shining they usually won't commit.
Can’t express how great it is that you didn’t shoot the teal on the water. I have stopped following other videos because of such an act. It’s great that there are sportsman like you that will give the game a chance. It’s hunting not killing and doing it the sportsman way is the way it’s supposed to be done. Great job and I will continue to follow your feed. Great work
Never saw the teal bro. Screw what everybody thinks bout water swatin anyways. We have all got frustrated enough to do it every now and again. I shoot a tight swamp line in nc and after a half a box shot at 60 mph birds, if they land im gonna cover em with 4 shot. Be safe. God bless!!!
Dont feel bad about Water Swatting Josh. It's all part of the sport. Not only are you wing shooting but target shooting as well while duck hunting. We all do it bro. Those ppl who give you shit for it on UA-cam aren't the ones who actualy go out and duck hunt. If they had a gun in their hand and a duck in front of them, on the water or in the air, they would shoot. No questions asked.
i will ground swat ducks because if you get them to land in your spread then that means that you outsmarted the duck which is what you are trying to do anyway.
I will shoot on the water all day if I have a recipe in mind. But I don’t get many opportunities now anyway. Duck hunting has dried up because the birds aren’t showing up as far south (Florida here) and we have idiots spraying the plants we need. Plus duck dynasty put all the pressure on the birds. And we hunt divers mostly. :/
Love The Public land hunts and also the small farm ponds and I am from Texas near Dallas in East Texas where there is some really good Public land .... So Is Kansas is easy to get hunting licence and waterfowl Stamp and how much would that cost ... also does the License cover Public Land or is there a separate charge??... Hope the season is great will continue to watch ... I also Have a NUCANOE kayak its pretty cool also. Thanks Aaron
Good going but for me that water is too still you need to use a mother line attached to a bungee cord to pull on it to give some movement on that water when the ducks are coming in
Crazy how different parts of the states want mallards but I would kill for gadwall and teal late season and all we shoot are mallards and divers but good shoot dude!
Water swats don’t bother me. I do it. Way I look at it is, ducks are free range, and if they land in my decoys I’ve done my part and fooled the duck. It had a chance.
If you have done your part to convince that duck that landing in your spread is the right thing to do then in my opinion it’s perfectly fine to water swat
Love this content i as well hunt public land but im in north texas and mallards are scarce out here but good luch this season and keep bringing great content!!
Well suprisingly we have seen alot more gaddys, widgeon and redheads but were always cleaning up on ringnecks like this last weekend was 7 ringnecks 3 redheads at 2 gaddys just all the other birds would flare from the champion callers across the lake or sky busters. Honestly if you cant hit em with 3in shells they are too far
how do you keep your gopro from dying when your hunting? I run into this problem a lot. I used to carry extra batteries for the older Go Pros. I can see your wire running from your camera but I can't tell what it does or what it is connected to. I'm guessing this is a way to keep your camera charged?
Outdoor Limits its fair chase they had the chance to pick you out before they got into the decoys shooting them on the water just means you were hid good enough to get them to fully commit
I've been wanting to do that, but I just haven't had a good opportunity to get out and do it. Maybe something to do this spring so i'm not freezing my tail off for no reason
Step 1. Buy a Tanglefree panel blind. Step 2. Set blind wherever you want. Step 3. Shoot ducks. Really though they’re the best blind the market has seen in years.
Marc Johnston Do you do anything for overhead cover with the panel blind? I like the way they look and the light weight and portability, but I’m a big fan of overhead cover.
I was duck shooting this morning , I shot 2 Teal and 6 Mallard all on the wing . At one point I had 5 teal bunched up and another 3 Mallard bunched up on the water , Ripe for swatting , I didn't my bag would have been twice as large if I had . Whats the point its not sporting and that's why we are out doing this .Suit yourself but its not for me.
Water swatting is fine but i feel like you tear up the bird when you do it. If they are far enough away though you better believe im gonna shoot him on the water
I'd water swat that all day. People say it's not fair to the bird or whatever.... After spending hundreds of dollars on my equipment and trudging through sloughs in the cold and setting up an awesome spread to fool the ducks into landing, they're dead

MALLARDS BRO 🦆🦆🦆🦆
I shot my first goose last weekand
Damn! How do you afford the sitka gear?
He gets paid for doing videos
@@kashleywalker5918 gotcha. Now that you say that I feel dumb.

It was a fun one!
No shame in shooting them on the water. It’s hunting. They live on water. I was more worried you’d hit the mojo next to it if you shot it on the water.
Water swat all the way...
Bro, if they land that's their own fault if they get smoked.
Not gonna lie I would have rolled that teal on the water 😂
I knew you would!
Same
Yeah, I'd probably waterswat that teal. They always come in so low and fast. Shooting them on the water isn't my preferred way to shoot a duck, but even less preferred is shooting at the backside of a duck, which happens a lot when scaring them up.
“Let’s dust these”
“I suck”
Lmao 😂

If I jump up and they don't jump they get water swatted😂
I think that’s a good way to go about it
BIG FACTS
exactly man lol just shoot em if they dont jump
If you’re good enough to get em to land in your spread, you can water swat em.
If you can get a duck to land in your decoys you did everything right. That’s a win. Take it.
Dead is dead . No matter if it's on the water or flying . Keep up the great videos.

3:50, shoots duck, gun goes on the shoulder... love it! Mallards bro!
I would have water swatted the crap out of that teal @outdoor limits

Absolutely my favorite channel on UA-cam period bud. #mallardsbro
Thanks for the support!

That’s what we talking bout Mallards Bro !!!
Water swat of course. I don't jump deer to shoot them on the run. Meat is meat.

If they're landing on the water in your spread, you're doing something right!!
True that!
Man looks like the ducks are down I wanna come out there
i wish the ducks where i hunt flew as slow as that single 😂
The duck doesn't give a crap where you shoot it.
Water swattin’ fosho 😂
If you think I would've water swatted that greenwing... you are absolutely CORRECT!
I always say when you stand up and yell, if that birds doesnt get up, hit them on the water!
Good video guys and good hunting....
The only time I don’t water swat is if there is a decoy before or behind the duck

It woulda been hello darlin for tht teal on the water lol
Are the dux goose and duck calls really as good as they seem-you should make a calling video with them soon
I like them a lot actually. I was very surprised with how it blows
Great hunt bro
Thanks!
I would have water swatted that teal😉. Great video josh keep up the good work!
Lovin these videos ! Good to see you’re hammering em, doin the same here in Co but we need snow!
It feels good to have such a good start to the season. I can't wait to see what all happens in the coming months.
Outdoor Limits Good luck this season ! I’ll be sticking with ya and watchin every upload.
Nice video sir....I like urr oll videos gud & i like hunting
i am watching the video at 2 am.and iam getting ready to go duck hunting.

Nice hunt
I LOVE THE CHANNEL
NTS Gaming same
I would had water swatted it! 1) saves shells 2) mission complete, he is in the decoys so shoot em in the face
The quality of the hunt is never measured in terms of the number of ducks shot. You need to keep that in mind.
I've had over 25 ducks so far hit the decoys that I didnt shoot. If they make it to the floaters they win and get to fly away
You called that water swat correctly .... though I think you're off by a bit when you said 90% ... I think it's closer to 98%
Good going but for me that water is too still you need to use a mother line attached to a bungee cord to pull on it to give some movement on that water when the ducks are coming in
Crazy how different parts of the states want mallards but I would kill for gadwall and teal late season and all we shoot are mallards and divers but good shoot dude!
Doesn't get any better than mallards!
water swat all day! killed 3 teal in one shot yesterday on the water!
Awesome hunt still been super slow over where I’m at only got one mallard rest are buffleheads and a handful of geese
Buffs are pretty cool!
What do you jam in their head to finish them off? Does it work better than breaking their neck?
Love the videos!
Water swats don’t bother me. I do it. Way I look at it is, ducks are free range, and if they land in my decoys I’ve done my part and fooled the duck. It had a chance.
Meat is meat my dude
Omg I love ur channel so much dude season bout to come in this Saturday on Arkansas cold fronts have been pushing them in dude ahh man can’t wait
Pond swat away buddy. If I know I’m not shooting at my decoys or in someone’s direction I’ll take what I can get.
100% water swat...get a GoPro remote off of Ebay and both GoPros will record and stop at the same time.
Woulda water swatted the teal 😂
they sure are hard to lead when they are on the water!
Do you ever feel like you were overshooting his lane?
It depends if your hunting for meat or for fun
If you have done your part to convince that duck that landing in your spread is the right thing to do then in my opinion it’s perfectly fine to water swat
Love this content i as well hunt public land but im in north texas and mallards are scarce out here but good luch this season and keep bringing great content!!
With the way this year is going, you might be getting more mallards than your'e used to!
Hoping lol...
I bet you get a bunch of gaddies and lessers down there
Well suprisingly we have seen alot more gaddys, widgeon and redheads but were always cleaning up on ringnecks like this last weekend was 7 ringnecks 3 redheads at 2 gaddys just all the other birds would flare from the champion callers across the lake or sky busters. Is that a ring neck? You didn't say so.
Splash bang once in awhile is all good. Ha

Fair chase to the animal I guess. Gives them a chance to get away
Rather hit the head or back than the breasts
Outdoor Limits its fair chase they had the chance to pick you out before they got into the decoys shooting them on the water just means you were hid good enough to get them to fully commit
@@andrewparisotto2631
Exactly.
When you duck hunting with your GoPro do you record the whole hunt or do you stop and start
What Sitka layers do you have under the dove oven? Also is this public land?
Is that an external battery pack for you go pro? If so, which one?
Dead duck is a dead duck man! I have no issues water swatting
I’ve got no problem swatting birds
They taste the same shot off the water as out of the air. His bad, you gave him a chance to try and split.
F***in right. Lol water swat in
Get some motion on water it’s really glassy they might decoys better
Water swat em all day lol
Cheech and chong intro bruh😂
Well, 9 months later, I normally try to jump them up but if I get up and they dont get up then they never get up lol
review on how the Roger's 3 in 1 are doing?
Love them!
@@OutdoorLimits will you do a video reviewing them? i just got a pair looking forward to usin them
Ida water swatted him just bc if you get a duck to land in the spread you did your job and they could have seen one thing off and been gone
What go pro are you running. What is that plugged into. I have been trying to figure it out and can. If you don’t mine telling me
Wow!
I still have to wait until Saturday before I can hunt here in Arkansas
The wait will be over very soon!
Good meat run
If a duck lands in my decoys, I'm swatting it. If it's a long shot on the water and all you do is wound it and it swims off, then nah.
Please go over the calls you are currently using.
Even though it seems straight forward, a how to build a blind video would be awesome.
I've been wanting to do that, but I just haven't had a good opportunity to get out and do it. Maybe something to do this spring so i'm not freezing my tail off for no reason

If they’re giving one sweep and going away it’s because they’re seeing your faces in that sun.
maybe. There was also a bunch of live ducks around the corner in more open water that they were going to.
I was duck shooting this morning , I shot 2 Teal and 6 Mallard all on the wing .
