Great video guys. Just found your channel and I’m super impressed. Good job picking drakes in tough lighting conditions. Definitely the right call to have the dog in the truck there. Can’t recommend enough that the owner tether him down when shooting. Can save a lot of heartbreak.

@@Turfnbirds thanks for the info and tips. I am coming there this year and I didn’t know whether I should purchase landowner maps or iHunter app or both?
@@Braxw3 my personal choice would be buying the maps on iHunter. It’s so much easier to use while scouting; for the simple reason it tracks your location. You don’t have to scan google maps to find road numbers and triangulate your position. Saves a lot of time. Only down side is you may go into bad service areas where the maps don’t load. The version I have didn’t work offline, but I had screenshots of the maps on my phone for those occasions.
@@Turfnbirds thanks so much. You are the man. I appreciate the information. I make UA-cam duck hunting videos if you’re looking to watch any but I’m new to UA-cam. Check it out at Wannamaker Outdoors if you want. Thanks for all the information man. I really do appreciate it. If you’re willing to answer one last question, would oct 18th-27th be a good time to hunt up there as far as weather?
its awesome to see so many of them committing to yall but try to hold off from shooting into the big flocks all it does is educate all the others and with hunting a loaf pond they are going there to rest up after a morning feed and getting blown out by shooting.
Thanks for the comment my friend. We did hold off on the majority of big waves, but sometimes when your picking out drakes it’s harder to pass up shots. Cheer brother!
This hunt was not a good one for him with us shooting low on the water. Notice he disappeared to the truck after 7:13. That being said, some guys like their dogs to go early and have hunted with them for years.
The pintail weren’t fully plumed out at this point and the mallards were, so we decided to pick out drake mallards. If nothing else came in we would have haha.
No sir, if it was a roost there would have been birds on it when we showed up in the dark. But there wasn’t. This was a loafing pond these birds only used for one week because it was near the field where they were feeding. They roosted on the big water in the area.
You are lucky man that you got such place which got plenty of drakes. I wish I can hunt in such place. By the way nice shooting. Highly admired
You said it, We are very blessed to hunt where we do! Appreciate the comment.👊🏼

Yes, my personal preference would always be having the pup stay steady till the shootings over.

He should probably watch the dogs when you're shooting low shots
Now I see why ducks are educated when they get to Arkansas… glad I don’t worry about duck hunting anymore
Di negaramu sangat banyak burung saya sangat senang melihatnya
Soooo we not going to talk about dogs breaking and vehicles across the pong 😑 what is safety?
How do you find land owners to get permission?
Knocking on doors usually and purchasing municipal landowner maps. In MB the iHunter app is a great resource with all the landowner maps available.

What month is this?
October
why were you using a net for the birds lol
Came in handy to reach out further into the pond when birds were floating away.
Often I didn’t need it, but just used it because it was in my hands.
@@Turfnbirds Ah okay i see, sometimes when we are hunting without our boat we’ll use rods rigged with like jerk rigs

Matter of time before that dog gets shot breaking like that.

Looks like they were shooting a roost. Hunting water in the prairie provinces is a no no. No kudos from me.
