Awesome video Josh, completely agree with you on the solo kayak hunts. For me the connection I have with my surroundings is at it's highest when I'm hunting out of a kayak and that's why I enjoy it so much. Watched the video sitting at terminal B33 in Atlanta, see y'all soon!
I use a kayak to get to my spots, and shoot almost exclusively laying down (coffin blind). Something I noticed in the video is that most of your shots were taken right off of the front of the kayak.(12 o'clock) You do not have much swing (Left to Right) remaining available to you at that point. So you tend to stop which puts you behind the birds. Consider moving the front of your kayak to 2ish o'clock. That means you will be taking your shots at 10o'clock and have more opportunity for a smooth follow through and I would be willing to bet it improves your kayak shooting performance. Try it out you might like it. Love those fully plumed Gaddies. Nice hunt.
Ha-ray for Hollywood... Always a good day with a limit. I told you the other day that front was coming. Mallards are showing up in big numbers up here in Nebraska.
Take some closest poles sharpen them to an almost point then take some 2 inch pvc in like 4 to 5 inch sections and bolt it to the side of the kayak the stick the poles though the pvc and into the ground makes it pretty solid to shoot out of I’m on my way to Kansas for 4 days here in a few weeks for pheasant opener and I’m going to try to get on some ducks wile I’m there this is year #15 in a row! Been watching you since the Kansas fisherman days this is by far my Favorite Chanel to watch
Outdoor Limits amen! It’s for sure the coffee. I keep a roll of TP in my truck and blind bag. Put it in a gallon ziplock though. Wet TP is a disaster lol.
Black clouds either drop birds like stones or let em get away. Had a beauty greenhead last year that absolutely dropped like a rock with black cloud. Shooting the same shells last week, hit a bird 3 times, feathers flying, and he just kept on flying. Keep up the good videos and cheers from Ontario
I use a product from Tetra Gun, it’s rated -100 to +700 degrees. I had a trigger freeze while hunting the mountains of Utah. Just a little goes a long ways, give it a try.! Nice video.!
I had the same shit happen to me yesterday when a 6 back of fresh fat Canadian green heads cupped into the decoys at shooting light . Couldn’t get the safety off after the yak ride in 19 degree weather never leaving the case in the truck again
I really enjoy your duck hunting videos. This video was good in that I could almost feel how cold you were. I am thinking about getting into video taping my hunts with a GoPro set up like yours. Could you please tell me where to get the green camera mono pod that you are using. I saw it in several of your videos and in this video it is shown at 8:44. Thanks Josh and keep those cool videos coming.
About 3 weeks ago up here in MN we had a BIG cold front with snow come through. Most of what I saw were gadwalls and green wing teal. Awesome hunt. I love it when ya shoot your last 1-2 birds after a good day of hunting. The only thing you can say is "That's a limit!"
Way to persist and overcome the early shooting frustration. Got a question for ya. Have you dabbled with drones at all? I realize you haven’t put any drone clips in your vids, but just thought I’d ask. I’m contemplating getting one to see my spreads and my hides.
Can’t blame you for missing the water swat attempt. I’m sure you didn’t want to shoot your decoys and you didn’t have a lot of room on that swat attempt. So I’m gonna go ahead and say the decoys were in your way that’s why you missed the swat attempt
Next time you hunt that same spot, go stand by the large tree to your right side. The birds are coming in from the center/left, and exiting to the right...easy pickins' Nice hunt by the way.
Why don’t you get out of the boat and make a little blind? Or just wear some bottomland and sit by a tree. Hands down you shoot better all year long from the A frame. I’m curious. Great vid!
Tyler T I respect what you’re saying for sure, but I’ve found that using a crosswind can help if the hide isn’t super badass and the sun is your face, like this hunt. Crosswind puts the birds eyes on their LZ and they are less likely to see something unnatural.
Not sure why all these guys are so afraid to water swat holy sh*t the fuck finished in your decoys and did exactly what you wanted it to do reward yourself with a easy kill and on to the next bud.
Exactly,, Ive always said the same thing! Anyone who doesnt water swat a duck in the decoys is an unethical hunter. Id rather kill a duck than put BBs in it and let it fly away.

Great videos dude! Really glad you don't edit out the missed shots and fumbles. Everyone has those. Cheers!
That morning move! I had to quit drinking coffee before hunts 😂
Mike S preach!
never related to anything more😂
I can’t stop the coffee
Outdoor Limits amen! It’s for sure the coffee. I keep a roll of TP in my truck and blind bag. Put it in a gallon ziplock though. Wet TP is a disaster lol.
Said no one ! That and the Mountain Dew keeps the hunt going .
Watching you shoot makes me feel good about myself
12:53 “shovelers”😂 they drop in great and they make a limit!
The solo kayak public land hunts are my favorite
So glad the yak vids are back. Thank you for the time and effort you put into your videos you are awesome Josh.
Loved how when he got that second gadwall he didn’t see that big group of ducks what just flew right in front of him
Luke Babb 😂😂😂
Happens
I love how he says “shooting on point”😂😂😂
“Hopefully these black clouds do the job” 2 clean misses😂
Can’t blame the shells for a bad shot 🤷♂️
Outdoor Limits no hate just thought it was ironic😂🤷♂️
Baby wipes work wonders in the blind bag for the morning movement
Noted!
Josh - we spoke at about 5:00 when I was loading my boat up on Wednesday at the boat ramp. Glad the morning hunt worked out for you!
Worked great! Thanks for the scoop!
Cannot wait for next weekend for our season to open in Missouri! First dime waterfowl hunting for me. 🦆
None of y’all can lie... the night before a duck hunt, is like Christmas Eve and you just can’t sleep because it’s almost Christmas morning!!😂😂
Insane hunt, I can only hope to have this good of luck this year hunting public
Rule #1 for my buddies and I always have toilet paper in the truck and in the backpack haha
Just so you know Kicks states that the High Flyer chokes shouldn't be used with Black Cloud. Just a FYI.
ALWAYS ALWAYS KEEP TP WITH YOU! I knew a guy that wiped with cat tails. He was not impressed by it.
Great hunt...I enjoyed the narration while birds were working lol. Keep em coming
lol the flock that flies by at 8:20
Fun lookin shoot man. You’re giving me the itch to put together a kayak setup and go on some solo adventurous hunts
Awesome video.... Glad to see some birds showing up. Looking forward to the Flyway videos
If you were in the Central Valley of California, if you want to have fun, you have to shoot spoonies, some days that’s all that comes in😂
Great video....so glad the yak is back...also give fluid film a try on your gun should keep it from freezing and will protect it to boot
TP in the Blindbag at all times !
they are all going to come in from left to right with the way the wind is looking
Great hunt as always, good luck with the boys this weekend.
Arkansas duck season can’t come fast enough loved the video wish I was right beside you
Not wearing glooves? You're a tough man. Hat's off
I use a product from Tetra Gun, it’s rated -100 to +700 degrees. I had a trigger freeze while hunting the mountains of Utah. Just a little goes a long ways, give it a try.! Nice video.!
Does it help with water getting in the trigger and then freezing?
Anyone else see that group buzz by @8:22 when holding the gadwall.
8:36 missed a nice group
Brayden Robinson shit happens
Brayden Robinson you mean 8:22 lol
It happens. Still shot my limits though!
Outdoor Limits 😂 Ik ik
Having issues shooting out of the kayak and the mud is to soft to stand in? Steal yourself a bread crate to stand on. Works great!!
Great hunt man caint wait to see some field hunting
Great solo kayak hunt thanks for sharing
It’s funny how some areas shoot certain ducks. Here in Oregon I’d almost would shoot a coot before spoonies
Someone needs to head out to the skeet/trap range and do some practice lol
Clay Turpin damn he’s not the only one I couldn’t hit shit yesterday
Christ sakes😂 he just needs to put a clay pigeon up on a stake and try to shoot it😂😂
Some days are better than others. I think the early morning excitement gets to me. I settled in later in the hunt.
If you sit upwind of the decoys you can get some closer shots on the big bodies of water when they don't always want to decoy right in close
These birds decoyed within 25 yards. I think it worked great
I had the same shit happen to me yesterday when a 6 back of fresh fat Canadian green heads cupped into the decoys at shooting light . Couldn’t get the safety off after the yak ride in 19 degree weather never leaving the case in the truck again
Awesome camera angle and quality!
thank you for being one of the few that show what you shot! no other youtubers do it and the end of vid and im glad you do thank you!
Half these people saying you need shooting lesoons cant even shoot keep up the work!
Any day when you limit you "recovered pretty well!"
Nice bunch of birds
I really enjoy your duck hunting videos. This video was good in that I could almost feel how cold you were. I am thinking about getting into video taping my hunts with a GoPro set up like yours. Hollywood!!!!!!! Great video.
Dude. You got that kayak loaded up and looking like an ocean-going container ship🤣
Awesome vid! Thx for the content, brother!

That Gadwall is a mounter!
I saw you shoot two teal in that group I think you lost one and that’s ok to show if that’s what hapoensd
Way to persist and overcome the early shooting frustration. Got a question for ya. Have you dabbled with drones at all? I realize you haven’t put any drone clips in your vids, but just thought I’d ask. I’m contemplating getting one to see my spreads and my hides.
Josh I told you man....the TP in the blind bag is a necessity. Also what’s that head lamp you’re running?
Nice Gadwell!
Froze up, is that what you young fellers call "forgetting to load your gun"?
Lol
Can’t blame you for missing the water swat attempt. I’m sure you didn’t want to shoot your decoys and you didn’t have a lot of room on that swat attempt. So I’m gonna go ahead and say the decoys were in your way that’s why you missed the swat attempt
Shooting out of them yaks definitely takes an adjustment period. Still not the most confident shooting out of mine. Great hunt!
What time you normally get out on public?how does your public land work? First come first serve?
Hopefully they will be down here in North Mississippi before long. Is that a 250cm paddle you use?
Great video my man
Cool hunt man! Not sure if I'll get out with yak this year or not.
Wicked solo hunt, saw ducks unlimited posted a cold front they're coming my way now 👍
They’re both great, but the quack yak is better for this situation
Austin what state you from brother
@@tomwikum7001 Ontario lad
Oh shit didnt know you were living in canada I'm in montana
Your trigger wouldn’t have froze if you still had a benelli
Next time you hunt that same spot, go stand by the large tree to your right side. The birds are coming in from the center/left, and exiting to the right...easy pickins'
Nice hunt by the way.
Laying in that kayak when you don’t really have too looks ruff. Why not just stand in the buck brush and make it easier.
Wasn’t sure about how that hide would be
What hearing protection do you use?? I see you had some in your ears. Thanks.
Why don’t you get out of the boat and make a little blind? Or just wear some bottomland and sit by a tree. Hands down you shoot better all year long from the A frame. I’m curious. Great vid!
You need some shooting lessons! Lol! but Good to know you’re doing good out there, We killing it here in Colorado
I settled in after the first light excitement. Shooting from a kayak can be difficult sometimes
Really enjoying the quack yak videos!
How do you put all the decoys on your kyak
Great video
What Yak blind do you have, I wanna get one because of your videos
How do you keep your reeds from freezing and sticking
Do you use the 60 or 90 series tetra hearing?
Have you tried boss shot she’ll?
What choke do you use and what kind of gun do you have
What blind do you use for your kayak
Why don’t you make wind direction more of a priority? Those ducks would have come straight in rather than swooping in from the sides.
Tyler T I respect what you’re saying for sure, but I’ve found that using a crosswind can help if the hide isn’t super badass and the sun is your face, like this hunt. Crosswind puts the birds eyes on their LZ and they are less likely to see something unnatural.
What he said. Also, there was no better place to put the kayak
what map app is baseline to track where u have gone in the past?
When using black cloud you hav to hav total open choke In the barrel.
Not anymore. They have a new wad that works in every choke
Okay. We only hav the Olde one's in Denmark. I hav only bad results whit them.
Wich caller do you use?
I’m gonna go watch bobby guy films
What lake where you hunting?
good job dear
What happened to the discover 110?
What a hunt bro
What state are you in brother? Nice shoot btw!
Hey brotha what head lamp is that?
Where do you hunt what state??
did anyone else see the flock of about 15 birds at 8:25?
Rule #2 of duck camp: Don't shoot the shoveler!
8:21 you missed a big group top left.
The title I’ve been waiting for
8:22 did he see that group fly over
how is shooting into the sun?
Not sure why all these guys are so afraid to water swat holy sh*t the fuck finished in your decoys and did exactly what you wanted it to do reward yourself with a easy kill and on to the next bud.
