Just gets better and better.. When we get to see Mike delving into Tool and using this beast it really makes you wonder whether there is anything that he can't play!

I love my 1976 wine red Les Paul Custom. And I got it from an old gentleman for $ 875. Awesome condition. The score of a lifetime.
That tobacco is almost iced tea burst which is my fav! Great demo, Lemmo.
Every Gibson Lemmo has touched in the past couple videos has that “fretless wonder vibe” .. aka the frets are worn down.
But LP Customs come stock with low frets.
The frets were so low on the les Pauls of the 50s that they were dubbed fretless wonders, NOT because they were worn down.
For sale ... Les Paul Custom with a now broken pickup selector switch :P
And also can’t stay in tune.
Lol..still awesome though...my les Paul has no tuning issues,but so many folks claim they do,I've never had a problem
Comes with hard shell case and a guy who is now deaf in one ear.

I just noticed lemmo's fingers kind of bend backwards at the first joint. A nice little mutation for the guitar playin.

Been reading a Vintage Guitar mag from Oct '15 and a story covers 'conversion', LP's,
PF's being the first noted but some examples were Gold Tops with glorious flame tops.
Some, well off center joins. Its Opaque, Right ?
Heres an original with a 3 piece top or at least off center seam.

This is where rarity overcomes rightness.

Got a 78 tobacco sunburst custom, heavy as fuck but the sweetest guitar I've ever played
in the tool shed with a classic LP thru marshall stack wide open and rippin , now that's what I'm talkin bout , Lemmo rocks.

Hey Lemmo and Jen, Great job on these Guitar of the day videos I really enjoy your work.! I have this exact 1976 Les Paul Tobacco Sunburst Ser #00112966 which I bought at Many's Music in NYC in 1977. Mine does not have those knobs though. Mine has the cheap looking black knobs and the tip of my 3 way switch was white which has now yellowed. It has great patina, still sounds awesome. I have played it a lot over the decades, but it is in great shape. Why would mine not have the right knobs on it? I really enjoy watching the videos every day and wow today you actually did a video on one of the exact guitars that I own. What is this guitar work (general range?)
It originally came with black knobs some people changed it to speed knobs

How is a fretless wonder type Les Paul on bends Lemo?
Ray...I had a '76 wine red Custom and it was easy to bend strings. I have large hands so I keep my action at about 5/64 to be able to get under the strings and also do slide playing. As far as leads go, being 'fretless' makes it so much easier.
@@john564holloway Thanks John I've always wondered if you were still able to make full bends on one never had an opportunity to play around with one.
@@raywalters243 Yeh, it's too bad Gibson doesn't still do fretless. I guess it's not for everybody. Do check it out, tho, when you get a chance.

Love the Zilla shirt! 15 years ago my former guitarist offered me his 76 Black LP Custom and I passed! The one that got away! Fortunately landed a 78 Cherry Sunburst LP Standard that's actually nicer and has a better tone but it was triple the price of what he offered me it for so........ inflation lol!!!!

If ya listen to them long enough you'll dig'm....I dont listen to them much anymore, but I used to a lot back in the 90s

Are those speed knobs correct on that?
Nope. They first showed up in '78, on the anniversary edition models. Became standard on '79 LPC's. Proper knobs would have been gold foil tops.
tiny b yeah I didn’t think so. I learned to play on my uncles 76 custom and it had foil tops with the finger bleeders. Thank you man

The vast majority of Lemmo's GOTD are Fenders so I'm not complaining!
Fenders are awesome....but oh well,I still enjoyed it!
