All the 911 you need in all honesty . Great to see you “investing” in refreshing bits , rather than just flogging it. Looking to more content with this … bit of roof down action 😛
Tom I know you're a busy guy, but so glad you're still churning...love the content, always a great watch in my down time. One of the few real ones left in this space
997.1 Turbo's are literally the best car in terms of true classic design and performance. I think they are today absolutely timeless and added age now only enhances its appeal. I'd be surprised if the down trend in car prices hits these.
What a car I thought you might have gone all out and changed the exhaust and suspension. Friends green Porsche have done a great video on expected work for a 997 turbo and they covered pretty much the work you have had done. Coolant pipes, bump stops, front top mounts, coffin arms front and rear. These cars in America are now selling for over $150k 😮 manual with low mileage
I love a Porsche update Mr E. hope all going well sir. In my opinion no one does self deprecation with the right hint of arrogance better !!! (In case of doubt, that was a complement)
I really like the GT3 Touring, looks so much better without the boy racer wings on the back, my friend currently has a grey one sans rear seats, his first Porche was in the 80's a 924 Turbo, he called for me and we went down to London and back in one night for a meal and drink, and we live in Warwickshire, love that wrist watch too Great colour.👍👍👍👍👍👍
I’m sure it’s just my eyesight or an illusion but just after you mentioned that it’s had 4 wheel alignment and we see the car outside the steering wheel seems way to the left and the front wheels are relatively straight?
@@TGEAsk your specialist. This is the main cause of bore scoring, and the Mezger Turbo is not immune. You're overfueling the cylinders when cold, which washes away the oil lubrication and dilutes the oil with fuel, more and more over time. Combine that with the two-year 20k miles service intervals and that's a recipe for potential disaster. Warm up the car by driving it carefully until all temps and pressures are as they should be, before driving it hard. And if you want to preserve the engine, ignore the service schedule. Change the engine oil at least every 5k miles or every year irrespective of mileage, or after every track day. Also note that low mileage cars, cars that do mainly journeys of less than 20 miles, and cars that are infrequently driven are the most susceptible. It pains me every time I see owners doing this, and when people do videos of their cars for sale with the engine running it makes me wonder if they always do it. While many people do this, it's not a good idea with any car, but it is particularly bad news for flat engines, and these water-cooled Porsches in particular. The only engine type that benefits from this routine is the rotary. It is also worth noting that many of the Porsche engines can suffer bore scoring for various reasons, and that although the newer cars have fewer issues, as they age there are ongoing reports of a small percentage of failures. Idling to warm the engine up is simply one of the most mechanically unsympathetic routines that owners have. Hopefully, everything is okay, but do yourself a favour and stop this habit.

Don't leave a flat 6 idling to warm it up!
Is that true?!
