    My truck has been great so far as well. I have the 4.30 in mine I probably lose gas mileage because of that. We didn't buy it for gas mileage we bought it for what it does. Great video

      I have the 6.7 diesel which I love to death got a killer deal on. It was a custom order that was back out on because the guy said he hated the color. I originally got the truck thinking I was going to get a dump trailer to tow around not sure that will happen anytime soon and with the emissions on the diesel and all the short trips wondering if the 7.3 would be the better truck for my needs. Just need a dealer not to screw me on my trade and try to steal my diesel from me. Thanks for the video!!

Idk why guys get so hung up and try compensating or convincing themselves of what would be the right decision. The 6.7 is absolutely better in every way...all the broke dudes just need to quit the pointless droning on about which one and why

    Just pulled my 18.3k tiny home from DFW to Myrtle Beach, 6 mpg hurts but it did it fine. Never overheated the transmission or burned any oil on the 1300 mile trip. Exhaust brake is about the only thing that really miss out on. Regular Cab dually with 7k payload (rig is gooseneck at 5k).

    I have a 2021 XLT 7.3 Supercrew long bed with 4.30 gears. I put on air bags to help with the squat, that seemed to really help when pulling our GD momentum 353G with the reese gooseneck @ around 12-13k lbs, no more having people flash their lights at me. I recently put on a ranchhand front bumper so that probably would also help with squat.

    You would definitely be better served with the additional overload spring on the 350 with that tongue weight. Good vid.

    Have a new 23 F250 XLT Tremor with the 7.3. I’ve been shocked at how effortlessly it tows so far. We tow a 7,000 lb travel trailer, so definitely a lighter load, but have pulled it through as much of mountains as we have here in the northeast without issue. We travel with 5 people and a 100lb dog in the truck along with gear, so even though the trailer is on the light side the 3/4 ton was a must. With the 4.30 gears and big tires I’m getting 13mpg average empty and 9mpg towing- and I tow at 70mph. While the unloaded fuel economy suffers, I’m getting around 1mpg better towing than I did towing the same trailer with my 21 F150 3.5 ecoboost. As you mentioned I’ve also never seen anything above 4000 rpm and really only exceed 3000 on long steep grades. I was honestly worried coming from the ecoboost that I would see high rpms and have the engine roaring all the time with the big v8, as that was the case in a previous gas hd I owned. Not at all the case with the godzilla, which sits nicely at 1800 rpm most of the time. I’m not sure if changes were made in 23 that affect ride quality but mine rides fantastic even unloaded- absolutely love the truck!

      Your comment probably has had the biggest effect on me wanting to upgrade my '17 F350 to a GZ. Really want that 10sp....and clear screen. LOL Curious what the numbers are on a the same as yours with 3.73 gears. I'm getting 8-10mpg with my 6.2 towing less than 7k.

      Nice review. I'm considering the same move from 150 to 250/350. Biggest concern is giving up my 3.5 EB, pulls like a champ and good mileage when not towing.

    Good video! I’ve got a 2023 F250 CCSB STX FX4 7.3L 3.73 gears. I tow a 8,500# Grand Design TT all through the hills of TN and surrounding states. The truck is a beast. Just returned last night from a 1,200 mile trip down to Grayton Beach State Park in FL. It was a great trip. I installed Timbrens last year and have been very happy with them. There is still play in them when traveling down the road. They don’t totally bottom out the truck. Next add on is an air horn. Lol

    very happy with our ‘21 F350 SRW Lariat CC LB FX4 7.3L Zilla w/ 3:73 diff; about 27k miles, primarily for towing 5th wheel, 12k x 36’ . Love the 48gal tank that’s std with the Long bed, fewer refueling stops. Have traversed the Rockies, no complaints; engine has plenty of power to spare. Towing a 5th wheel is like pulling a billboard WITH a parachute . . . windy /crosswind conditions aren’t fun ! Thanks for your video, and your perspective.

    i really like my 22 f350 srw 7.3. I put timbrens on because i put my goldwing motorcycle in the bed, then hook up my travel trailer. It really does get the job done. only thing i dont like is driving around empty. The 10 speed shifts to early, so every time you come up to a tiny hill its shifting like a mad man looking for the right gear. But in tow mode with a load its just right.

    Good review. I believe that as long as you stay in Florida, where it's relatively flat, you'll be all right. I've found that the mountains test you're really towing capacity!

    I've got a 22 F350 CCLB XLT 4WD 4:30 gears, 7.3L, 11,900 GVWR Package, Camper Package, HD Brake package
    We went with the long bed for two big reasons.. the HUGE gas tank. 48 gallons is nice except for when you have to fill it! LOL Second was the half ton (or more) of payload capacity you get compared to a standard bed. In my XLT, it's about 1100# more than the same set up in a CCSB.
    My towing impressions are much like yours.. towing a 18' box trailer, the truck pulls without even realizing it's there, squat was less than 1/2". Never got over 2600 RPM's towing it, even up towards 65. Mileage over several hundred miles with it was 12.2MPG measured.
    Towing our Sanibel 3702WB at 13,800#, on a Goosebox, the truck barely ever get's over 3500 RPM's, towing up and down the rolling hills of Northern Indiana. Truck squats just over an inch. About 600 miles so far, and averaging 10.8MPG measured, not the "lie o meter".. lol Normally tow it around 55-60mph, I'm not in a rush.
    Flat out.. the engine doesn't even break a sweat pulling either trailer, the truck and suspension are tight, but loaded she's smooth. Like you, I have decided NOT to go with the Timbren's on the truck, but I am going with Sumo Springs on the Fifthwheel, just to keep it smoother with the rear kitchen. People are probably going to get on you over the gas vs. diesel debate.. sorry, but for the extra 11k in cost, I'll replace this 7.3L three times and save the money upfront, and not worry about the more expensive maintenance. One thing people say over and over is that the 7.3L doesn't get the engine brake that you get with the diesel.. and their absolutely correct. However.. if you LEARN to drive the 10 speed transmission, getting the truck to drop 4 or 5 gears to really control your descent is rather easy. Yeah, your going to buzz up to 4000 RPM.. but guess what? That's where the 7.3L's power band is at! So you listen to an engine wind out for a couple of minutes.. it's built to go way over those RPM's.

      I ordered mine Jan 7th 22.. they delivered it on Dec 23rd 22.
      Up here in farm country Michigan, you couldn't find a HD truck of any flavor, and if you did, it was an order some dealer got a customer to skip out on, and priced wayyyy over MSRP.

    i am possibly on my last truck, time will tell.. i have had several trucks with tall gears like you have.. experience says to get the highest numerical gears offered.. my 355 f350's were fine, but they all ended up with transmission problems and lots of shifting under load. it will be fine, but.. if you can always get the deepest they offer, as that is the least stress on engine and transmission

    My son's 2021 F250 with 7.3 is bumper pulling a 15,000 lb. dump trailer. pulls good on the hills and coming down from rock quarry is 7% grade and transmission and brakes hold well. Does squat so needs air bags.

    Great video! I have the same truck but as a 350 srw and the 4.30s towing around 14k fifth wheel. It is doing good for us, even to Smoky Mountains last winter. You have a nice set up, enjoy!

      I just order a 24’ f350 SRW King ranch with 430’s to tow a 42ft 5’er weighing 14.5 dry. Payload should be closed to 4K according to the chart. Dry pin weight is roughly 2900.
      Coming from a ram 2500. Hoping to love this truck as much as I luv my ram.

    2023 F-350 SRW, Lariat, 7.3L, 3.55 gears. We are pulling a Grand Design Reflection 341 RDS; 37 Feet, 2,000 hitch weight (GEN Y Executive Hitch), approximately 12,500-13,000lbs. Generally no issues towing. It handles the weight of the trailer just fine. It is gasoline so it behaves like a gasoline engine when towing up steep grades ( mostly 4% to 5% grades in East Tennessee). Averages 8 - 8.5 MPG towing the trailer; up to around 16MPG highway unladen. (per the onboard mileage computer)

    I tow a 8400# travel trailer with a '21 F350 XLT. 7.3L Godzilla 3.73 gears. I wanted the 3.73 & not the 3.55 or 4.30. In '21 the 3.73 was only in the F350 not a F250. The only and I mean ONLY difference in a '21 F350 & F250 is one overload leaf spring in the rear & the rear gears. It cost $1700 more for the F350 but you gain 1k # extra load cap. At the price of these new trucks I felt it was worth it for the 3.73 availability + the extra 1k load cap. I tow our rig all over the hills & mtns of the PNW and have made several 'snowbird' trips to the SW. NEVER an issue going up & down all the major passes. I feel I'll have no issues up to 12-13K towing. At that or more I may consider a diesel or 4.30 gears; but for now I can buy a lot of gas for the $10k up charge on the diesel. I average 10.3 mpg towing. Friend with diesel & like trailer is averaging ~1.5 mpg's better on the same 4k mile trip. His fuel ran $0.60 - $1 more plus DEF. I had no issues going up the same hills behind him. rarely went below 3rd gear. Like yourself; I bought it to tow, not mpg's

      Hey Herb, correct me if I am wrong, but on the F250, if you ordered a 430 with ELD you got the one ton rear end with the larger ring gear and thicker tubes than the 373 and below ratio, correct me if I am wrong.

      @@TIREDOFEVIL not sure about after '21 but I know when I was going to order one in 2015 & when I actually did in 2021 the only real difference was the one extra leaf spring. when equipped with the Godzilla 7.3L, In 2016 the 6.2 was the only gasser and you could get that with the 3.73 on a F250. I've heard about the "d-rated" F250's but they were not seen in my local. I understand the newer F250 Raptor or Tremor has the F350 rear though. I just know when I ordered my'21 those were my options so I spent an extra $1700 for the F350.

      you get the over load spring with the 350 and one extra spring with the 350 also. over the 250. and its only 800 dollars more. because it comes with the locker rearend with the 350 standard.@@herb7877

      I have a 24, f250 with the 7.3, with the 3.73 gears. I pull a 9k trailer. This truck does everything my diesel did. I get 16.5 mpg empty.

    Combined weight is a clue. Based on that I would believe the Godzilla engine was designed for medium loads and the diesel engine was designed for heavy loads. Pulling many 5th wheels is considered heavy and travel trailers are considered light to medium loads.

    I have a 2020 F350 XLT CC SRW Short bed with the 7.3L and 3.73 rear end. It was literally only $1500 difference between it and the F250 with the exact same equipment. I did have to order it since none of the trucks the dealer had were the 3.73 rear end, but it only took 8 weeks to get it. And the difference in payload is huge. 4300lbs compared to 2800lbs.

      When we were looking, there wasn’t an F350 within 300 miles under $85,000, or they were F350 dually without a bed. Pretty slim pickings. This F250 has a payload of 3082 lbs which isn’t to shabby, definitely would appreciate a 4,000+ lb payload but its within specs for our rig.

    It still seams like it squats too much, what is the deal with these new leave springs, my 2001 250 squats an inch with a 6213 lbs bobcat on a short trailer. Truck rides pretty smooth without a load.

    The tall gearing is numerically matched for what ever the trannies one to one gear is, usually placing the motor RPM in the sweet spot for proper cam timing and engine mapping… don’t change the gearing

    I bought a 2020 F250 7.3 Godzilla with 3.55 gear ratio and have a 5000 lb travel trailer that I pulled down to La Paz Baja, my average mpg has been 11.5 over the last 1000 miles through mountains. I’m thinking about getting a Lance 825 truck camper and pulling a cargo trailer for toys. Might need sumo springs

      I’m very weary of Sumos or Tembrens because your suspension is no longer absorbing the kinetic energy, now that shock load when you hit bumps is going straight to your load.

    I put sumo springs on my Ram 2500. They are worth every penny. They are not like timbrens. Makes towing my 5th wheel so smooth. Just my experience.....

      Takes up way too much bed room, and heavy to take out. If neither of those are concerns for you then probably work fine.

      I have the demco in my 2020 chevy 2500 ccsb gasser. It's heavy but performs really well. I've had it about 2 years now. My 5vr is only about 10k though. Keep it lubed up and it will last. Happy travels.

    With this truck I plan to tow a 32’ 5th wheel AND haul camper 3000 wet weight. Not at the same time of course. Which rear gears would be best for both applications?

      @@user-me9hn6vw3t 4.30 will give you more towing capacity but less fuel economy, 3.73 seems to be the sweet spot.

    Am i the only one that dont pay attention to payload capacity? i figure if my truck will physically pull it then im good lol i dont tow very much but never considered payload or anything like that. cool video brother love the new big block trucks!!!

      Unfortunately there’s a lot of people out there that don’t know or willfully don’t pay attention to GVWR and sadly see horrible accidents posted all the time. It’s a shame.

      @@saltytrips now when I haul in a commercial dump truck that's different I absolutely know how much weight the truck can legally haul! but on my pickup I don't think I've ever got anywhere near the payload never even thought about it. Modern trucks are so much more capable then the trucks from decades ago so I guess I could see how that could get people in trouble trucks from decades ago they wouldn't hardly pull more than their GVWR but modern ones are packing so much torque they'll pull twice as much or more so I guess I can see what you're getting at

      @@kingrider75 yeah you're right I get what you're saying. I don't tow much anymore but I used to and I'd help people and the weird thing is I've towed things with trucks that I'm 100% certain we were well within the gvwr but the truck did horrible not enough power not enough breaks just not good at Towing and then I towed with other pickup trucks with loads that were probably outside of their gvwr and they did awesome felt like it didn't hardly bother the truck. So I guess I went more by if the truck was mechanically sound and how it behaved versus the weight ratings

    I don’t know how airbags take away from payload, they don’t weigh 50 pds, they the first thing I put on every truck I own, I would think the 3:55gear would be strong behind a 10 speed, I personally like a 3:73, had a v10 with 4:30 and couldn’t pass a gas station

    Looks like you could use an F 350 to have more payload and less squat. Thanks for sharing; great to see others experience. I’m sure the 7.3 has all you need. I just bought a F350 XL STX but with the 6.8. Love it so far but haven’t towed anything yet.

      We are within payload, have a whole other video about that and in today’s truck market we’ll stick with this the F250. Like I said in previous video, when we got this the only F350 available where 100k, didn’t fill like paying 30k for a bigger nav screen that we don’t even use and 50 seat adjustment settings. There was hardly any inventory and the “market adjustment” mark ups were insane. We were lucky to get this F250 at MSRP.

      It rides great as is 👍, it doesn’t really squat that much, almost level. Maybe i’ll give them a try one of these days but i don’t like the idea of bottoming out the suspension way before it’s supposed too. I do have the Air Ride pin box so that does diminish some of the kinetic energy from the truck. Who knows 🤷‍♂️ maybe.

    I didn’t even know you can get enough 250 with anything smaller than 373s, what I tow 12,000 pounds with 355s, no way I see you’re doing it but boy I would get the 430s or the 373 at the very least but great video thank you

      The 10 speed transmission makes the lower gear pretty much irrelevant once you’re moving but it definitely does not struggle to get up to highway speeds at all.

      Nope, the engine is designed to run on 87

    Adding to my previous comment.....I do have a Chevy 3500 for a WORK truck.....but my personal vehicles are 2019 Ford Fusion SPORT 2.7 eco AWD.....and 2017 Ford F150 SPORT 2.7 eco.....and love them both.....FORDS are better for personal use and looking nice and going fast lol.....but Chevy are 100% better for work trucks and work abuse such as plowing snow and towing heavy loads DAILY.....

      Chevy heavy duty trucks have an independent front suspension. They are not nearly as good at plowing as super duties. Fords have a solid front axle and are built way more stout. Chevies are good trucks but they aren’t built as strong as ford, but they do ride better.

      @cliffordmontana4562 we used to run fords.....would get maybe .....maybe one season out of it before requiring major work.....Fords are great for your own driveway.....but with 48hrs of straight plowing like we do in northern mn...my fleet of Chevy maybe one out of the 10 will loose 4 wheel drive because kid drove through multiple snow storms with 4x4 on going 75 on hwy all winter......and when something does break its 1000 times easier to fix and ford's are literally double the price.....for more issues and difficulty under the hood.....fords just look better thats literally it....

    Would hope this can pull 12,000 lbs without issue but for 20,000$ less......my 3500 Chevy with the 6.6 has a 14,500 lb towing capasity.....pulls my 6500lb trailer with 7000 lbs of equipment and supplies with no issues what so ever.....only issue is she does burn oil like most 6.6s but just check it once a week .....usually add 1/2 quart every 2 weeks....and I pull 10 to 12k lbs everyday......have 65k and no issues besides that.....20,000$ less than the comparable ford.....and easier and much cheaper to work on or have fixed by mechanic if above your pay grade lol.....

      Actually, the towing capacity for that truck (I have one) is 18,000# not ur 14,500. Salty Trips was just stating what he was pulling. We pull our Alliance Avenue loaded up and there is no problem. Not 18,000 # but you really don't want to pull the limits on your truck anyways. Oh and not oil burning. Appreciate you are a Chevy fan. IF I was to say anything bad about my truck I was surprised on what I thought was a limited payload (2913), but, I bought the 4x4 FX SWD also
