I have a 7.3 with 30,000 miles on it. It's a 2021 model that I purchased new. The truck is used primarily to tow my 31' 5th wheel or 23' boat. After a long trip to Idaho from West Virginia this past summer I did an oil change and sent a sample of my used oil to Blackstone Labs for testing. The results came back very positive with results showing below normal in all areas of testing. Thus I assume i'm not having any lifter issues. I have always used Motorcraft Synthetic Blend motor oil. I had traded a 5.9 Cummins in on this truck and I have been extremely pleased with every aspect of towing, mpg and any other area to compare. The 10 speed transmission along with the torque of this engine gives me practically the same power and mpg I usually logged on the Dodge 5.9.
Hi! Considering a 7.3 to tow our 36' 5th wheel with (on the lighter side at 10.2k dry / 12k loaded). I live in VA and am curious to hear how your 7.3 does in the mountains. Appreciate any feedback/insight you might offer!

I have had 2 oil analysts done on my 2022 f350 with the 7.3 . First at 10 k and just now after turning 20 k . All is still normal according to Blackstone . I pull the same 5 th wheel as you do . Love the 7.3 . Still on the Motorcraft oil . Great video. !
My 22 f350 has 79k miles on it and I have changed the oil every 5k and use AmsOil 5w-30 with no problems. Also you don’t need to pre fill your filter. You just hold down the gas peddle when you go to start it and it will crank the motor over with out starting the engine which will prime the oil system and filter and you crank it and few times then you take your foot off the gas and turn the key and it starts right up.
I also am ready for my first oil change. Rather than take the chance on the warranty, I will have the dealership do it and pay the hundred dollars. I’m of the same mind as far as having the Ford dealer do the oil changes. I didn’t know the oil analysis was a thing for oil from a truck engine. Expensive?
I learned the hard way to always do my own oil changes. I bought a new F350 diesel, when the first change was due I dropped it off a block from my office, picked it up on my lunch hour. Came out after work to find a giant pool of oil under the truck. Reached under and grabbed the giant oil filter and it was rocking back and fourth about to fall off. Nicely done ! your intro gave me a fright ! I have a '21 F350, 7.3L gasser & tow a 30' tt. I only tow with it. Currently has 13k miles on it. I've always changed my own oil. Change it every 3500-4000 miles with Mobil 1. I insure its well drained by warming it up and then letting it drain for 30 minutes (eating lunch while waiting). I've used a Fomoto valve for ~7 years on two different trucks. They are well worth the price. I do the same thing with the filter, but I use the old plastic bread bag. If you watch the Costco adds they will run $10 off Mobil oil now & then. Rather than a potential mess of pre-filling my oil filter I just spin it on dry & then when its time to start; hold the gas pedal to the floor and turn the key. The motor will turn over but not start. I wait until I have full pressure and then start it up. Last week I was talking to the service mgr at a large dealership. I asked about the lifter issue. He said he has seen very few & extremely few the last 12 months. He indicated most of the issues were people not changing their oil often enough and / or using very poor grades of gas. .
Change oil a bit to often. Once a year or when the light comes on. Any more often your wasting money and could make things worse with detergent build up. It's not rocket science but it's not 1975 either.
@@Nowayjose-z2r I will respectfully disagree.. 55+ years ago, dad told me, “oil is cheaper than iron “. I’ve subscribed to this theory for 55 years and will continue for at least another 10-15. I’ve not had an engine issue in that time period, spread between numerous vehicles and getting at least 100k miles without issue. Even if I am over doing, it’s pretty cheap insurance
@@herb7877 Agreed. Manufacturers are now advertising cost of ownership numbers - fewer oil changes means cheaper cost of ownership. The manufacturers recommended oil change interval is a combination of engineering and marketing. What's the fewest number of oil changes that can be done with a reasonable expectation of the engine lasting through the warranty. They could care less what the engine is running like at 100K+ miles - nolonger their liability. Anything engine (foreign or domestic) using the motor oil as part of the variable timing system should be changed at 3000 miles. Saw it in the Chevy 3.6, Ford 4.6, 5.4, and most Dodge engines need all the help they can get.
I’m curious what issues are caused possibly by poor quality gas? I have my 7.3 in the shop currently for a misfire they haven’t figured out yet and for some time now I’ve been buying all my fuel from a Loves which is selling gas for 30 cent cheaper than everyone else for some reason
Lol intro got me. Just take care of it like you are and you will be fine. Millions of these on the road by now with a very small amount of issues. Plenty out there with over 100k miles on the truck forums with no issues.
It is very important to fill your new oil filter before installing. Your initial engine start after your oil change the engine is running dry until that filter is filled. I like the drain valve and will get one for my 6.7 Powerstroke.
2022 started tapping 33k, started knocking and missing at 38k. Dealer says engines are back ordered due to high demand till February. Its in a rollback that earns $1000 a day, so running it every day as is, at 42095 now, sounds like it’s gonna shell any minute but been that way for 4000 miles.
It's not just the 7.3 that Ford is having lifter problems , my 6.0psd had a lifter failure after 288,000 mile and took out the entire engine. There are other videos of Fords lifter problems. In my travels I've run across others who are having the same problem with Ford lifters in their engines.
Not a fan of click bait ,but I can appreciate your opening for the video. Great job. I have the 6.8 in a F350 ; no negative about it because no one even acknowledges that it exists, lol.
You wouldn’t believe all the 7.3 hate comments I got on the last oil change video about how it’s just going to blow up, they act like it’s 100 percent failure rate 🤦♂️🤷♂️. That was for them.
Have run similar drain valves in my semis for millions of miles and never had one fail or come open. I would fill that oil filter up at least 3/4 before installing to prevent dry start up. Great video
Very nice trick with the valve and plastic bag. I might be doing that. I highly recommend filling the oil filter with oil before putting the new one on. This cuts down or eliminates the time that the oil pump is sucking air. I'm a trained and experienced auto tech (but not anymore) and I've worked on cars and trucks for 42 years. I also use only Motorcraft oil filters on my Fords. They have excellent backflow prevention so you don't get the clacking at start-up. I have a 2012 Ford Focus (manual transmission) with 158,000 miles on it and it still runs like new. My coworker has a 2014 Focus with 280,000 miles on it, also still running great.
I drive a 22 F550 service truck with the 7.3 and have lifter failure at 49000 miles. Being worked on now. Oil changes done at 30% on the oil life counter at the dealer.
I had purchased back in December of 2020 a new f250 lariat ultimate with the 7.3. After 2.5 years with 20k miles of nothing but issues and being at the dealer for repairs just about every other month it was time to part ways with the truck. I ended up going back to a diesel as I have had the best luck with them. I had great expectations for the truck and unfortunately I got a bad one. I do think ford has the best gas engine for the HD trucks for sure, and I’m Hoping they fix the issues they have with better quality parts.
I learned something today, i dont need an oil drain pan, which i have taking too much room. I can use those Walmart gallons after drinking water. Another one, use plastic bag on that filter, that is a life saver now. That drain plug, i might try it. It will make things simple as well
The plastic bag and the valve are good ideas. Doing it. I do 6500 to 7000 mile change intervals. I have a drain pan with all the tools and extra filters, towels, etc. It takes me less time to drain and fill bt myself, than to drive to the Nit Wit Jiffy Lube that stripped my drain plug in my Z06 Corvette aluminum oil pan.
No. Buy two 5 QT jugs. The Mobil1 jugs have a sight glass near the handle for visual oil level. So you have 2 qts left over. ------ Next oil chg buy 2 more jugs, dump one in, Use the sight glass to get one jug with 3 quarts, dump it in. ------ Next oil change, rinse and repeat. ------ Now you are pouring in 2 jugs instead of 4, every oil change. Which is cheaper, and easier?
I have a 21 Ford bronco first edition with the v6 twin turbo. 10k no issues so far. I also traded my 22 Toyota 4 runner trd pro for a 24 f250 with the 7.3 gas. I would never buy a vehicle from GM or jeep. Any company that needed a bailout years ago was because they make crap vehicles amd people weren't buying them. Ford, Toyota and Honda didn't need a bailout
Haters are also called Dipsticks😂 You just keep doing what your doing and dont worry about the Dipsticks. They are just mad your in Florida fishing and they are not!
Motorcraft synthetic blend is fine or full synthetic is fine , if you prefer to use Mobil 1 or Pennzoil that is fine too as long as they meet today's automakers specs , myself I have used motorcraft synthetic blend forever and never had an issue
Thanks. . . You scared the crap out of me. I have a '20 F250 7.3L. Yes I'm worried about lifter failure. I have 48K of problemless miles. 12K more and I'll be out of warranty. So no more scares please.
I have heard its more prevalent in service trucks that idle due to a variable oil pump that puts the oil pressure down to around 7psi at idle which does not lubricate the front of the engine enough.
I've used Mobil 1 for decades. I recently switched over to pennzoil platinum. Call me crazy but I think Mobil 1 has gone downhill in the last couple of years. I ran Mobile 1 in my f150 5.0 for 80,000 miles. 2 years ago I started to hear more and more vavle train noise. After switching to the Pennzoil it's much quieter. After that happened I started using the ultra platinum in my Mustang. The bag tip is a good idea. On a vertical mounted filter I use a small punch and put a small hole in the bottom of the filter and let it drain out. It works great on the big filters on my tractors and semi's.
I am not a fanboy for any truck. I just purchased a 2023 F250 to pull my 28ft Airstream. I have now 14,000 miles pulling coast to coast and I am very happy with the Godzilla and 10-speed tranny. I chose the F250 because the 7.3 gasser has a very flat torque curve coupled with the same 10-speed that the Diesel version has. The engine is naturally aspirated with roller lifters and is essentially old school design that should provide the reliability that I want. I get 12 mpg average pulling the trailer coast to coast. Of course, the gas mileage is based on the Ford "Lier meter." I think Ford is building the best truck for my application and the UA-cam hysteria is not a concern to me because it is most likely over-blown. I think turbos and superchargers are more of a concern than lifter failure. I had an F350 diesel that I traded for the F250 because I didn't need the torque of the diesel that I used to pull an 18,000 lb 5th wheel. The diesel is not as reliable as the gas because of the EPA crap they have put on trucks these days. Derated diesel engines are my concern. BTY thanks for the video. I used the Fumo valve on my Caterpillar C-9 engine it made things much easier and cleaner.
I’ve got a ‘22 I bought in nov 21. 36,000 miles with lots of RV towing miles that I bought it for. I use royal purple oil and change 6-7,000miles. Been flawless so far
Just out of curiosity, if you do your own oil changes, should you keep record? Just in case? Because If you go to the dealer it would then be on record. I would bet you could request for them to use full synthetic for the change? Just curious on your thoughts..??
Loved my 7.3 but in the shop now at 59,000 miles. Sounds like lifters are done. It misfires in cylinder 1 and has a knock through out the rpm range. F250 500 hrs of idle, 3000 total engine hours. Full synthetic oil at prompted intelligent maintenance monitoring intervals.
I read all of the hype before just buying mine couple of days ago; (Dec 2023). Got a great deal being end of year. I did some research and the failure rate is very similar to all other brands of trucks and vehicles, roughly around the same. Oh well, bought it because it meets my needs towing my camper, boat and tractor without spending a ton on a diesel plus the added fuel cost.
That mobile 1 oil is probably better for that motor than motorcraft. Ford recommends that to make money off it but there are better oils for that motor in my opinion. For the oil filter i still use mobile 1 on my ford sedan along with mobile 1 oil which i am sure exceeds ford recommendation. My sedan runs like a champ.
Thanks for the great tip. I have a 2023 Tremor Lariat 7.3, and the drain plug is recessed about 1.5". I tried to install the Fumoto and it would not screw in due to the recession in the pan. Fumoto has an extender adapter, but their site says "out of stock". I am not able to find one anywhere. I do want to get this to work because when I removed the drain plug the oil stream hit a cooler and splattered all over. What a mess. That adapter looks like a standard brass extender though.
@@saltytrips Fumoto has that adapter back in stock. While I was at it, I found a different solution from Stahlbus, which is a M12x1.75. I wasn't able to get one from the Stahlbus website, but I found one on eBay. I am tending to go towards the Stahlbus solution because the Fumoto has that adapter, then a brass valve, both horizontally configured. I don't know how bumps and bounces would affect that over time. The Stahlbus is simple and looks like it does the same job.
I am using Chevron Supreme syn blend 5-30 at 5K change intervals, it also meets the Ford spec, 2021 F250 Tremor, Started Blackstone eval at 20K, report was great. I have towed an 8K enclosed cargo trailer at least 30% of the time.
Forgot to mention on my post; When I bought my last truck (2019 Ram 2500 6.4 4x4) there all kind of hater posts on that how it was destined to fail with engine problems. Well, put over 50k on it with out a problem.
The lifter failures in these engines are not related to the quality of the oil. It's a part material quality issue. This is a well known problem and there is a lot of information about it out. Changing the oil brand will not stop the failures.
@@saltytrips The entire point of your video was lifter failure and changing the oil so you won't have it again, So I guess I totally missed the point of your video. Either way, oil is not the issue with this problem.
I see that Fumoto states that their "1/2" ADAPTER FOR M12-1.75 VALVES (ADP-137) may be needed. Did you need an adapter to get your Fumoto valve to seat properly?
Thank you SO MUCH for this video! I'm in the process of purchasing a 2020 F250 with the 7.3 and was getting cold feet. It's like reading reviews on Amazon... only the people with problems make them. How many 7.3's out there will be problem free the entire life of the truck. Just curious if you have heard of any high mile success stories?
I own a 2008 5.4 L I have had it from new and now has 190,000 on it and have never used anything but motorcraft 5-20 and have never had a problem but I also change it at 4000 interval
Who the heck uses recommended oil from Ford or Harley. They can't keep you from using any oil that meets or exceeds the recommendations. Let me tell you what to use. Ams-oil or Cheveron full synthetic oil but and a huge but the last quart you should add is Lucas Pure synthetic oil stablizer additive. Coming from a trucker and mechanic, trust me. I have gone to many oil seminars and haul oil.
I'm at 32k and I've yet to see a failure, rough idle, ect... and that's using Castrol edge 5W-30 Full synth. I do however use a Mobile1 20k filter and change at 5000-7500 intervals. I also tow, but not super heavy, just often.
Anyone ever use a lucas additive loke the synthetic additive. I use it always in my 7.3 powerstroke and can tell a differnece. It quites down the injectors. Might help with the lifter oiling. Who knows.
For the folks hating on the 7.3L.......just......why? If you don't like that engine for whatever reason.....why would you WANT for someone's engine to fail. That crap is crazy. Bunch of dummies.
Agreed. When the manufacturer is looking for an excuse not to pay that will be the first thing they request. Almost need to make a video of you doing it.
Err Dodge ? The last time I checked the last time Dodge made a truck was nearly 14 years ago. The RAM production was moved to Chrysler production plants in 2010 when Dodge and RAM split into two completely seperate brands and manufacturer’s. Common knowledge
We recently made a video about the change we're making with our 7.3 - from Motorcraft to Amsoil. I considered Mobil 1, but decided the Amsoil was a better solution for our situation (lots of towing, idling, etc.)
THANSK NO HATE NO HATER HERE PURELY ADMIRER I AM CONSIDERING A 7.3 GAS OVER THAT DEF DIESEL . HANG IN THERE THE 7.3 GAS WILL GET BETTER .PROMISE SIGNED WILD BILL BOSTON MASS .
Good video bro. My 7.3 takes 8.75 quarts, not 8 quarts. I buy Costco full synthetic when 10 quarts is on sale for $30 and I get Motorcraft OEM filters at Meijer for $5. I bought the Valvomax instead of the Fumoto and I find it much better.
I’ve always bought and drove Chevy and I’m not bias but ford sucks. Lol. Jk. It’s cool bro don’t let people get in your head. It’s your money spend it how you want. All these new motors all got some sort of issues anyway.
I don’t really care, I have no brand loyalty because none of these companies have any customer loyalty, they’re solely beholden to their shareholders. I just think it’s funny how people root for things to fail and so loyal to product in which the company cares nothing for them.
People, READ the OWNERS MANUAL, it clearly states that if you are towing, stop and go, dusty conditions it may be better to use a higher viscosity oil and to change the oil sooner. You want the best oil get HPL no VII 5w40 and you can thank me later.
That crap is the minimum requirement, not what you should be using! It’s the cheapest base stock and additive package available. Either way your lifters are going to fail no matter what you do. I’d run Pennzoil platinum ultra not Mobil 1. My 3.5 ecoboost can do everything your asking of the 7.3L, 12000 lbs is cute ,about what I pulled with the f150 uneventfully. You aren’t asking anything special of the 7.3l . Just use it and do 4-5 k oil changes
Then don’t use shitty oil or 0W 16 use something like a 20 W 50 Or this is just a bunch of fake news because there’s a bunch of people who don’t like Ford vehicles
Fact oil is synthetic or not absolutely doesn't mean it's better. Just means more chemicals and less actual crude oil. As long as it meets the manufacturer's requirements you are fine. Lot of comments about how often you all change oil. STICK to the manufacturer's recommendation or time (once a year). Changing oil to often leads to detergent build up and causes more friction as the detergents will clean the lubrication off thus causing more issues than you think your preventing. Proiven 100% fact if you use the google machine and get out of 1975 and the 3 month 3,000 mile recommendation for oil change places to make more money. Ram had/has the turning lifter in the hemi issue and it was either lack of or to many oil changes. Ever put Seafoam in an old engine? Spin a rod or drop a lifter with in a 1,000 miles? Cleaned the film of oil off for to long.
Just curious - anything to back up the claim "detergents build up and cause more friction"? I have NEVER heard of detergents building up on metal surfaces to the point they "Cause Friction".
Synthetic oil is better. It's the reason that manufacturers are even able to allow once a year oil changes. Also, those recommendations are not made in the best interest of the engine, they are made to reduce oil usage by the population. Not to mention that the once a year is never the severe usage, which most people fall under.
It's stupid to play the Ford lotto. Even if you don't get the lifter issue, why buy something that has know isues from a manufacturer that has always had engine issues, and pretend it's fine. And pay $100,000 to do so. If that's hate sign me up as a hater. Guess you can't play victim if you dont.

Exactly, seems to be a a few people on the internet where the sky is always falling.
It is very important to fill your new oil filter before installing. Your initial engine start after your oil change the engine is running dry until that filter is filled.
I like the drain valve and will get one for my 6.7 Powerstroke.
No it isn't
Tell that to your cam bearings for that 4-5 seconds it takes to fill that filter assy.
Ouch, thanks for the input, keep us updated when you get it fixed!
Think about it, is 20 more horse power and 40 pounds of torque worth a thousand dollars
My 21 had 51000 miles had oil pump gear issues and then lifter failure . Got a new long block . Hopefully problems are gone because i love this truck
I learned something today, i dont need an oil drain pan, which i have taking too much room. I can use those Walmart gallons after drinking water. Another one, use plastic bag on that filter, that is a life saver now. That drain plug, i might try it. It will make things simple as well
@@nature10879 definitely makes it a lot easier and cleaner
Haters are also called Dipsticks😂
You just keep doing what your doing and dont worry about the Dipsticks. They are just mad your in Florida fishing and they are not!
Mobile one has the highest zinc level rating over all other oils. Thats why i run it in everything from generators, mowers, cars and sxs
Thanks for the input 👍
Motorcraft synthetic blend is fine or full synthetic is fine , if you prefer to use Mobil 1 or Pennzoil that is fine too as long as they meet today's automakers specs , myself I have used motorcraft synthetic blend forever and never had an issue
AWESOME VIDEO! GREAT tips, thank You for taking the time to share it with us, PLEASE stay healthy and safe out there!
Thanks. . . You scared the crap out of me. I have a '20 F250 7.3L. Yes I'm worried about lifter failure. I have 48K of problemless miles. 12K more and I'll be out of warranty. So no more scares please.
Good luck, i think its pretty rare , hope for the best 👍
I have heard its more prevalent in service trucks that idle due to a variable oil pump that puts the oil pressure down to around 7psi at idle which does not lubricate the front of the engine enough.
Thats what I’ve been hearing too, i idle quite a bit hopefully I don’t have issues 🤞🤞
Thanks for the input
Awesome, thanks for the input 👍
She’s going to blow!! LOL Nice truck Chris and good idea on the value. Couldn’t get the links to work. Tight lines!
🤣… thanks I for got to add them, i fixed it now, thanks for letting me know.
Like the camera angels for the oil change. Nice job! I think I'm going to get one of those Fomoto Valves.
… makes oil changes so much easier and less messy, definitely worth it 👍
Do you plan on using an oil analysis service like Blackstone? Good for spotting unusual wear before it becomes a problem.
… probably not, if we have issues we’ll cross that bridge as it comes .
Great video and I’m with you on the 7.3, been good so far and loving it.

I've been using Fomoto valves for a decade. They are worth every penny.
I recently heard about this lifter issue. I'm switching my truck over to Amsoil full synthetic.
I’ve got a ‘22 I bought in nov 21. 36,000 miles with lots of RV towing miles that I bought it for. I use royal purple oil and change 6-7,000miles. Been flawless so far
Good to hear 👍, lets hope its stays that way 🤞🤞
Just out of curiosity, if you do your own oil changes, should you keep record? Just in case? Because If you go to the dealer it would then be on record. I would bet you could request for them to use full synthetic for the change? Just curious on your thoughts..??
@@michaelerickson3626 we have recorded on Amazon of every time we bought oil and filters, easy to show receipts
Wow , sorry to hear, thats pretty high idle time. Thanks for sharing, good luck, let us know if Ford takes care of you.

@@cjzambito1 ouch, keep us posted if and when Ford comes through, we are all interested in the process if this happens to the rest of us.
Exactly, it really just a boogeyman
The diesel mileage towing will be better. You have to do a lot of towing and plan to keep it awhile though to recoup the price difference, for sure.
@@Bwanar1 takes about 12-13 years to break even on the price difference between the two.
I drive an F750 with a 26 foot box on it and it has the 7.3L engine. it seems to do pretty good, even with all that weight. thanks for the video

I’ve always been an Amsoil fanboy. It’s never done me wrong
Thats strange they changed the oil pan from 22’ to 23’ it’s the same engine. Hopefully the extenders come back in stock.

I have a 2020 with 50 k miles and been running mobil 1 from first oil change and no problems.
Forgot to mention on my post; When I bought my last truck (2019 Ram 2500 6.4 4x4) there all kind of hater posts on that how it was destined to fail with engine problems. Well, put over 50k on it with out a problem.
I have never used anything but Mobil 1 for my Gas vehicles (all the way back to my 1971 Torino GT). My 2007 F 250 Powerstroke get Rotella T6!!
The lifter failures in these engines are not related to the quality of the oil. It's a part material quality issue. This is a well known problem and there is a lot of information about it out. Changing the oil brand will not stop the failures.
When did I say it would 🤔?
@@saltytrips The entire point of your video was lifter failure and changing the oil so you won't have it again, So I guess I totally missed the point of your video. Either way, oil is not the issue with this problem.

They put lead acid wet batteries in them versus the AGM Battery ?😮
I see that Fumoto states that their "1/2" ADAPTER FOR M12-1.75 VALVES (ADP-137) may be needed. Did you need an adapter to get your Fumoto valve to seat properly?

Thank you SO MUCH for this video! I'm in the process of purchasing a 2020 F250 with the 7.3 and was getting cold feet. It's like reading reviews on Amazon... only the people with problems make them. How many 7.3's out there will be problem free the entire life of the truck. Just curious if you have heard of any high mile success stories?
Hundreds of thousands of these on the road with no issues.
Got me good on the intro. Appreciate it, though!
Its just crazy how many are rooting for these to fail, had to troll them a bit 😁
@saltytrips I'm getting either Godzilla or the baby-zilla. Not sure yet, but one of them for sure.
Use the PENNZOIL FULL SYNTHETIC it's better. 😊
Yes, tested and proven through actual oil analysis, not “well I use this oil and never had a problem…”
The bad engines were only found in box trucks. The pick ups have no lifter problems

Nice intelligent oil change.
Doing my homework, have Cummins 6.7, thinking of getting class b with 7.3. Worried the headache I might get later on.

From what I have been seeing the idle oil pressure from the factory is set too low and starving the upper half of the engine of oil.
42K so far and no issues.
Love my 7.3 Godzilla!

So was the engine covered under warranty?
Covered for what?
7.3 is junk. I’m on my 11th long block. Towing 400lb wife every day.
Maybe the truck isn’t your problem then 😂
These engine failures are apparently sue to bad batches of parts from suppliers
I use Rotella t6 full synthetic
I'm at 32k and I've yet to see a failure, rough idle, ect... and that's using Castrol edge 5W-30 Full synth. I do however use a Mobile1 20k filter and change at 5000-7500 intervals. I also tow, but not super heavy, just often.
Right on, keep us posted of its progress 👍, great motor.
Thats social media these days, sad but just have to ignore those people.
Well u got 3x more miles than i did on mine

Left field 👀 🤷♂️
Just watch Lake speed juniors videos about oil.👍🏽
We recently made a video about the change we're making with our 7.3 - from Motorcraft to Amsoil. I considered Mobil 1, but decided the Amsoil was a better solution for our situation (lots of towing, idling, etc.)

Not for the 7.3. I looked in the manual myself, for the 7.3 it only recommends 5w-30 and in colder temps 0w-30.
Looks like u was down about 2 quarts
I got 30700 on mine no problems
That crap is the minimum requirement, not what you should be using! It’s the cheapest base stock and additive package available. Either way your lifters are going to fail no matter what you do. I’d run Pennzoil platinum ultra not Mobil 1. My 3.5 ecoboost can do everything your asking of the 7.3L, 12000 lbs is cute ,about what I pulled with the f150 uneventfully. You aren’t asking anything special of the 7.3l . Just use it and do 4-5 k oil changes

Why do you think you are having lifter failure ?
its the oil pump i heard a mechanic say...they keep the oil pressure down to help mpg's
waranty?
What about it?
If I have to debate what oil to put in my new truck engine to stop a lifter failure that truck ain't worth buying....
I’m not worried about lifter failure, some people just seemed obsessed with a boogie man, that was the point.
almost all trucks out there now have lifter issues of some sort, so pick your poison.
Not to mention that the once a year is never the severe usage, which most people fall under.
lol, yeah the dude is full of shit...@@HockeyGoon939
It's stupid to play the Ford lotto. Even if you don't get the lifter issue, why buy something that has know isues from a manufacturer that has always had engine issues, and pretend it's fine. And pay $100,000 to do so. If that's hate sign me up as a hater. Guess you can't play victim if you dont.
The Motorcraft oil is ILSAC GF-5. Mobil 1 is ILSAC GF-6. Look up the difference.
