Hi all, so today I went to Dunsfold Aerodrome, a new airfield for me, with the intention of catching one of British Airways' last remaining 747s, G-BNLY land for the final time. This particular aircraft sports the iconic Landor retro scheme which was used by BA between 1984 and 1997. Fortunately with the help of a small group of aviation enthusiasts she was able to be saved and sent here to Dunsfold for preservation rather than getting scrapped as originally planned.
I found a fairly decent spot where I could witness this iconic and sad event. It was a real lovely touch for the crew og G-BNLY to perform a fly past over Dunsfold before landing. That was great to see.
From now on she will be used here at Dunsfold for film and TV purposes as well as educational needs as well. In my opinion a great outcome for this iconic aircraft.
The last retro aircraft of BA's, G-BYGC (BOAC Livery) is set to leave the fleet next Friday the 11th December and is bound for St Athan where she will also be preserved - With eCube solutions.
Anyway a great day to see this aircraft once more. Landor will definitely be missed by loads. If you enjoyed this video then feel free to leave a like and comment below and subscribe to my channel if you are new
Thanks for watching and take care

That plane in that livery was why I fell in love w/aviation. The 1st time my Dad took me out to Greater Pittsburgh (Pennsylvania if you're reading this & not from the States), it was to see THAT PLANE. I was 7yrs old & from that point on I was hooked!! BA had 1 flight per week out of KPIT...7pm departure on Sat. Due to my proximity to the airport, I knew when it (at least SHOULD) fly over. I'd lay on the ground in my backyard & wait for it the same way I'd wait for the Goody-Goody (ice-cream man, lol) to drive by, ha. I always knew when it was comin' cuz of the distinctive low rumble of the Rolls Royce engines...no other plane sounded like that at the time. Urgh, she'll be missed. Hopefully we can find a way or reason to save one here & there. Enjoyed the vid as always. 😉👍👍👉

Even though I'm from America, I feel that color scheme on THAT AIRCRAFT just SCREAMS Great Britain!! Don't ask why...I myself don't know, ha. It's such a beautiful livery. I hope BA finds a way to keep it.

It's still there in parked mode. I wonder which company does the parking checks or whether BA does the parking checks themselves. I know during covid the Airbus A320 family must have had a single flight once every 3 months I accordance with aviation regs. If this hasn't had engine runs or taken to the skies then it is going to be used as a spare Christmas tree where every component that can be verified serviceable with form one issued against it
Shame really, 4 engine aircraft will become a thing of the past.
