I agree 100 %. I can't think of a better drum sound than his on A night at the opera. You're my best friend and sweet lady, hard to top. I beat the hell out of drums when I play them. He seems to get this incredible sound with the lightest touch. Hits the snare then rests the stick on the snare head until the next upbeat. And often accentuates the snare sound with a "pshhhht" sound on the hi hat. One of my favorite drummers. Not the most flashy, but a solid and stylish drummer and an absolute hell of a singer.
Maybe because we all knew how incredible he is on the drums. But this song shows that he also has a fantastic Voice, something that maybe not everyone knew before.. just a guess
There is a declaration from Brian or Roger that after Freddie's tribute concert they asked George Michael to sing with them but he answered them that their power of sound was too much foor him. Great drummer, Great guitarist, Great bass player and Great Singer and Great pianist . I love all of them and the power of their music
I mean, for Christ's sake, when your drummer can even sound good enough to front an entire band but your main man is Freddie _fucking_ Mercury... you're unequivocal. you're *_QUEEN_*
I absolutely agree! Roger could have fronted any band, and he has a very successful solo career. Him and Brian are doing one last tour toward the end of the year. Of course Adam Lambert is no Freddie, but he doesn't try to be, and is a great singer. #QueenIsForever 🎸👑🔥🎤🎹🥁♥️
Tge way he hits the drums and sings is amazing, we all praise freddie for his talented voice (because it deserves praise) but roger's range is utter beauty aswell
john is jumpin around, having so much fun playing iilwmc freddie is just like "lets keep going were doing good" and i have a feeling, brian in his head is just like "why"
Can't get over the fact that Roger does not look like that voice should come out of his mouth. He's a great singer, just he doesn't look like he would have that voice.
The other members thought this was a bit of a funny tune but you can see Freddie genuinely happy there looking over to see Roger loving every second. Just wow 🤩
Sounding better than Rod Stewart while being one of the best drummers in history and being in the greatest rock band in history, I think Roger can be very proud..
God i fucking love Roger so much he's so cute for some reason?? like he looks so adorable all the time haha. And his voice is...just fucking incredible i mean. The biggest vocal stretch ive ever seen in anyone. Hitting notes near the 7th octave, and dropping all the way to the 1st. It's crazy. I love him
In the video commentary for this, the banter between Roger and Brian on this song is hilarious. Roger says, at the 1:00 mark, you can see that Freddie was really enjoying that he wasn’t the one having to work the hardest and was laughing at Roger’s plight.
I agree! My favorite performance is Somebody To Love. Phenomenal performance by the whole band. They were so tight and just locked in with the chemistry. Roger slayed in the drums and vocals. Wembley 86 was also incredible. Four world class musicians coming together and always gave it there all ♥️👑🔥
INSANE how he can be such a powerhouse both vocally and on the drums at the same time. Both sound so full and magnificent! The drums so full, punchy and round and his voice, like if rod stewart was even better... you get roger taylor here. I've probably watched this a few thousand times.
When I said to my padawan twins, that my favourite Queen's song is not actually sang by Freddie Mercury, they look at me like I'm from another planet. It really is my Queen's favourite song.
For me, at that time Roger was a tornado of musical fire!! Absolute energy. One of the famous musicians I admire the most. Chief Mouse: Thank you very much for uploading the video! Greetings! (comment translated with Google Translate)
Damn! incredible voice and drumming like a swiss watch. Roger could have done a Phil Collins thing and totally nail it. But really the lot of them together are just a massive bonfire of talent. Freddie deservedly gets a lot of the optics but every one of those guys is a 1K% pro music master. Superb performance from all hands right here
Queen is so unique, they got Freddie who's a master in piano yet at the same time could sing in very high voice, and they got Roger who's a master in drums and he also could sing in very high voice. Imagine the difficult. They're not human.
Roger Tailor has a great husky Rock voice. He could easily be the lead singer in any band...except Queen where he would be upstaged by the very talented Operatic singer Farook Bulsara...better known as Freddie Mercury. And that power drumming is excellent. Underrated musician.
Operatic? No! Freddie didn't have an operatic voice, his voice was made for rock music and ballads and that's exactly what it was, the middle of bohemian rhapsody, not opera, it's mock opera... Barcelona album, only person singing opera on that was Montserrat
Ill never forget listening to this the first time I got drunk at 15, my older brother left me some tequila in a glass starbucks Frappuccino bottle 😂 I remember head banging to this and being in heaven!
The incomparable Roger Taylor! Ranked 8th out of 100 best drummers. His vocals are perfect for rock. Of course Freddie is phenomenal, but his voice to me is more universal. Of course Sir Brian and Deaky are so amazing. The whole band was just tight and had such incredible chemistry. Rest In Paradise beautiful Freddie ♥️🥁🎹🎤🔥👑🎸
Very few drummers can also sing while playing-- let alone sing the lead! But man he really lets loose in this song and Brian, too...every time I hear this song I dig it more. Freddie got a few minutes to rest his vocal chords when they did this, too. Rog probably wrote it for that very reason I bet 😍

Real shame that this dudes solo career never took off. His voice is killer.

Sadly you're not wrong either.
