- Are there any words that you write the same but pronounce differently?
Especially names can sound very funny to each other when you say it with an accent. 😝
We had so much fun recording this! It’s one of my most popular videos on TikTok, so I thought you may enjoy it too!

This is not an accent, this is the Hungarian Language!

These words do not originate from Hungary tho, they are loan words from other languages from the modern world. So no, it is not the Hungarian language. We just 'megmagyarosítottuk'.
@@noraheist Yepp, and according to my knowledge (source: hungarian grammar book) there are less than 1000 "hungarian" words. When I say hungarian words I mean the words that weren't in any way influenced/changed by other languages and cultures throughout the centuries of language evolution.
@@ol4yosh436 That is true to most Indo-European languages though, most of them only kept 800 of them. Hungarian is doing pretty well with 1000
@@ol4yosh436 However, I gotta add that linguists don't know for sure about the number of Hungarian words out there, and all of them says different estimates from about 1000 words to 60,000. So I wouldn't jump to conclusions.

the emphasis on parts of words and kind of breaking it into syllables is so similar to korean 😮 I've been learning korean for quite awhile now and planning to move to Hungary for med school... this is just perfect

@@Fkindo-europeanarechaotic yes we know it's uralic, but it took a lot of important vocabulary from Indo-Iranian tribes like tehén, hús, vásár...look them up in Wiktionary

@@federicoalcaraz2993 yes, that's true, Hungarian has many Turkic languages, but it also had equally as much Uralic words.
@@noraheist I guess you should go back to school to learn maths.... because the 9.5% turkic words in hungarian and the 21% Uralic words in hungarian are not even close in amount.
Hungarian accent sounds pretty much like finnish accent for me.
I am Hungarian and we have the same linguistical roots as the Finnish. As long as I can remember our history, our tribes split around 1100 years ago and we (Hungarians) travelled westwards, while them (Finnish) travelled northwards. We pretty much think on each others as brothers and sisters.
As an Estonian it was so close to how I would pronounce it with like half of the words, its crazy, like Vitamin is literally one-to-one, noone would distinguish it being a hungarian pronounciation. I knew about the Finno-Ugric connection and how we only share some root words, and I've heard once how finnish being spoken in slovakia got misunderstood as hungarian, but I didn't think it would be THIS close.

@gaborszadai1992 the first time I heard this was our landlord... I'd just arrived a day prior and apparently my sister had told them I'm good with technology. So Basci comes up and starts asking me in very fast Hungarian how to fix it! I was barely conversational at best and my sister was at work😂 he just kept saying "wifi! Wifi!" And I was so confused...thinking it was a word I'd never learned. Finally he just dragged me downstairs, literally by my arm 😂and gestured at his computer and router. I immediately realize! Ohhhh. The wifi is out and he wants me to fix it. I did, after grabbing my phone for translation and telling him what to do... I'll say that was probably the most hilarious language barrier I've ever dealt with 😂😂😂❤

No. We say usually foci. The formal way to say football in hungatian is labdarugás. We never use the futball word.

@@adiii36445 Actually, all three words are used, it is up to the speaker how to say football, if you say labdarúgás, foci or futball(phonetically) everybody understand what you mean.
