@CamoMatrix I'm trying to decide which pattern to get and came across your site. Great stuff and very unique approach. There is the age old debate for rifle hunters as to whether camo is really beneficial. It would be interesting to add a solid color like Ash or Grey as a comparison against the camo patterns to see how much better (or not) the camo is compared to solid.
Thanks for reaching out. What are you trying to decide between? And what areas are you hunting? I do have some of their solids that can be run vs a pattern. My current hunting trip is ending tomorrow. Are you looking at valo and verde?
@CamoMatrix I hunt in Idaho for deer and elk, exclusively rifle so I don't have any close encounters. I was debating between all three of Kuiu's patterns. I've come full circle and am now thinking I may go with a solid color. My rationale is that I'll be more likely to wear the gear out of season, more versatile to wear with other brands and colors, and at 200yds plus I'm not sure that camo gives any benefit. Having said all that, camo patterns and analysis is fun stuff. There seems to be no end to the time and money one can spend on hunting clothing.
@boockholdt yes, at 200 plus, any macro patterns will blob out and really at 20 plus, all the details on micro and mimicry patterns will wash out and just look like macro patterns. For a solid, maybe brown or grey (as long as blue isn’t in the grey). I will run some for you this week. I lived in the Big Woods River valley (many years ago) and visit Idaho still for hunting.
Im really liking Valo in this simulation. Verde did disappear in some instances, and Vias sis in a couple. I own Valo, and have owned some Vias. I can say that the lighter colors of both seem to take on the surrounding color, tinting it towards that color. It’s too bad there is no simulation for that yet. These are great videos that you do and thank you for your time and sharing them!
Valo seems really versatile especially as brown as most of my seasons in Texas are. Have some bow hunting in evergreens coming up next month and been trying to avoid adding some verde pieces. Seems like valo can hold its own in all green environments but verde seems to edge it out in some specific situations.

@@CamoMatrix Thanks for the quick replies. I'm leaning towards the Ash color. Hope your hunt is a successful one!
@ i do have this older one with Kuiu ash on 14 backgrounds. I did the other solids too. ua-cam.com/video/HskRBF-oSUw/v-deo.htmlsi=wlfiw_Nqp3GwL2wG
Wyoming high plains here... at foot of medicine bow forest. So mostly between Valo and Verde. Either has its place
Love that area! And I would agree about the pattern choices.
I hunt in Mississippi and I think that verde will work best here

Yes, i wish i could capture how the patterns change in certain settings. It is just hard to simulate. I will keep trying.

Then again I bet my Sitka sub alpine will fill that niche just fine and save me more Kuiu fanboy bucks.
Valo and SubAlpine might have almost everything covered. I have worn Valo in eastern fall leaves to Rocky Mt high desert. Same goes for SubAlpine.
Valo is on point for me in Kansas and Texas. I like all 3 though
I will be rocking it in Montana
Think you could do the Tusx Omni Veil in this new layout.
I will get on it soon. Not many have been done with the new 24 background format so many more can be redone if anyone requests it.
