Professor Tajuddin, it is your most respectful traits being a liberal Malay that people admire, never mind what others say about you. That is exactly make you difference from others. To me, you are great the way as you are. And those being arrogant, disrespectful of others and despise the minorities are anywhere near you.

An academician who speaks his mind without fear or favour. A true blue professor at heart who knows and feels that knowledge will not weaken your religious conviction. A person who sees and tells it as it should. Too bad the majority of his race feels threatened whenever he speaks common sense.

our education system suck, not by coincidence im sure. its global. even in Islamic universities, all their focus was ritualistic aspect of the religion.
Justice, social movements and political Islam have been systematically dismantle by the capitalist west.
where there are oppressions there will be hate. our financial , political and social structure are the tool they use.
all the hate politician should received they cunningly divert to their community. people who love politician are not that bright.😅

Malaysia is the only country in the WORLD that allows full time vernacular schools?
      Is this true?
Is this good sound policy in governing a multi-racial society?
Will this education “freedom” assuredly cement good relationship between the various tribes in the long run.
Think long long and hard hard at the realities and answer please.
Any bright sparks with brilliant suggestions that have been missed out.
Nearer home, nothing is more uplifting than to hear Indonesians of all tribes conversing in their Bahasa Indonesia happily with gusto and pride in every nook and corner of the world.

    Salam Professor.
    These are universal problems.
You are graciously letting your thoughts flow out freely and openly as a Muslim.
It will be interesting though to hear from the other sides, but unfortunately not much is heard from them about why they view things as it is, how do they arrive at their conclusions, or have they given enough thought about the feelings of the majority other side about their views regarding the situation and their positioning.
This shall lead to a huge discussion.
By the way there is no such thing as a liberal Muslim.
    A Muslim is a Muslim.
There are of course misfits and the misguided in Islam and in all other religions for that matter.
An accurate analysis would have to take into consideration and the account of history, numbers, circumstances, political expediency, taking advantage of situations, greed for wealth and power, primordial feelings, dynamics of race relations, superiority uppity complex, opportunism, herd instinct and other factors.
And of course stupid irresponsible leaders.
Undoubtedly the main cause of all these issues around the world is the insatiable self-centered greed of man.
Just look around, it’s an incurable disease.

Educate and instil in the children good behaviour and manner and integrity. Professing to adhere to a religion should have made a person to be a kind, compassionate and benevolent person. Lying is wrong, cheating is wrong, hurting others is wrong and murdering is wrong; in religion these are sins. Having said this, Malaysians should be the model citizens for other nations to emulate.

We respect each individual. Malaysia is a multicultural nation. Hence the freedom in religious belief and practising own culture is covered in our Federal Constitution. Our education is basically secular in substance. While we respect all religions, I think it's up to individual to adopt or follow. Any religion should make a person good. You can't have a good religion to produce so many bad people. Good religion won't instigate people to kill or/and decimate non believers. Suppressing others for own advantage is never a good teaching or practice.

The result of the process depends on the "quality" of the input to the process. Otherwise, it's GIGO - "Garbage In, Garbage Out." Malaysia certainly needs more people like you. On the subject of "religion", you might perhaps like to encourage more Malaysians (Muslims and non-Muslims alike) to read an enlightening poem "Abou Ben Adhem", written by a 19th century English poet, Leigh Hunt.

There's no question that there should be more people like Tajuddin who espouses pursue of truth. For truth to prevail in any subject or belief there should be no compulsion as imposing compulsion is fear of unveiling truth as rightly pointed out here. Should have more podcast (and open discussion) like this.

I agree with the majority of what Prof Tajudin shared here.
At the same time Prof should learn some humility in expressing his opinions. There's a strong hint of intellectual arrogance in his words.
One can never change another person's way of thinking if one choose the way of humiliating and belittling the other's intellect.
And it's an irony, since Prof preach so passionately about humility in understanding and practising one's religion
Having said that, i really hope more moderate and enlightened muslims wud be given air time in popular podcast like yours

People often times misunderstood liberal and neoliberal, the economic woes we endure today originated from neoliberalism, US under Reagan started loosening control & regulation on corporate, since then nations all around the world have been emulating corporate friendly policies, resulting hunting for the cheapest labor the world can offer, destroying labor right all over the world, including the phenomenon we saw on our education, masuk universiti untuk grad dan jadi cork in the machine.

What I learned since young that the Malay don’t take criticism lightly. This is their culture.
What I don’t understand why learning of the math and science is being an objection. I will ask what others learning is needed to support it. Like a rocket you need a launching pad.
I would ask Prof. what are Malaysia education that will create the launching pad for Malaysian. Personally I would keep religion as a personal choice and only distill out what is good for a personal wellbeing from all corners and make it Malaysian. This is what I personally feel there is a lacking from Prof.

Religious practice has to be guided . Religious institutions are there to provide guidance for the followers. Intellectual discourse and understanding about religion depends on the intellectual capacity of followers which is subjected to the preachers inundation and the upbringing of the family.

There is no antidote for ego and greed, incurable diseases of mankind since the beginning of time. Most are elevating themselves as experts giving their two cents worth and capricious opinions, unfortunately. Good luck to all in your individual search for the meaning of existence and the understanding of what’s going on around you.

Is a utopia possible or impossible?
A friend told me they believe it is possible to achieve a perfect society while I said it's nearly impossible (at least in this realm and reality).
I was thinking about how even some plants try to protect themselves from being eaten and how most living things are parasitic to each other. Suffering is inevitable here so I'm not sure how a utopia would work here.
I know humans created the concept of heaven but I'm not sure what that would look like realistically.

Mr Prof trying to show that is Islam is very easy by giving example choice of "Wali".To get married,we need a wali.Yes..A father can be a wali..no problem!?
Our dear professor leave just at that...a good learned professor cannot gave a bad view to those who don't understand as it will make them confuse. Yes a father can be a wali, but he still need to have certain criteria which is very important before he be a wali.

"Never will the Jews or Christians be pleased with you, until you follow their faith. Say, “Allah’s guidance is the only ˹true˺ guidance.” And if you were to follow their desires after ˹all˺ the knowledge that has come to you, there would be none to protect or help you against Allah."
    Al-Baqarah 120-121
I always found it amusing that some Malaysian non-muslims thinks that muslims who drink alcohol and not praying 5 times a day a good and exemplary muslims 😂hello, all the things that you don't like us Muslims do like not drinking alcohol, wearing hijab, praying 5 times a day are the requirements of our religion. There's no two way about it.

Honestly dude, nobody cares what you do in your own personal space. The entire problem starts when you think your religion/race (and the specific interpretations as such) is the best way to govern a multicultural, multiethnic diverse country like Malaysia. i know plenty of muslims who dont drinking alcohol and praying 5 times who love Malaysia as it is. And i know muslims who would drink, party and smoke like a chimney then go back to their home towns and vote the greenest party cause "kita nak isle".

That is not true for all non Muslim. To me everyone should follow their religion. However, you shall not enforce yr belief onto others and then condemn others. We need to respect each other. Pork is non- halal for Muslim but so is beef to Buddhist. But why then if eating pork in front of Muslim is disrespect but eating beef in front of a Buddhist is ok. Don’t misunderstand this is only one example. To me eating anything in front of me is ok because even is non halal to me I won’t be influenced just because someone did something non halal in front of me. Respect is mutual not one way street
