Been going to meets in San Diego for a decade and they had this car there for a long time just to check on the meets. I had an SDPD officer abuse there power openly he blinded me with his spotlight on a 2 lane dark road I could’ve been severely hurt there focused on the wrong thing definitely we need to reel it in this is not protecting or serving this is a waste of resources we need reeducation not low riders
while the grappler would see more direct results as far as capture rate etc., this is actually way more useful to the department. with this they get the same press they could get from the grappler as a curiosity piece, but get to twist it into cop propaganda to humanize their officers. the lawrider is obviously useless for actual police chases etc., but it's the perfect excuse for the PD to insert themselves into car meets, where stuff sometimes goes down(fights, stolen cars, drunk and disorderly, possible gang presence, etc.), without first being called over something or seeming like they are guard dogging the event. think of it like this, they're gonna send a unit regardless just to make sure idiots don't idiot, but now instead of people seeing the squad car and going "Shit, it's 5-0." they'll say "wait, did that cop just drop the back?? that's sick." much like wearing an animal suit to get close to a group of said animal to study it from up close, this car gives the cops an excuse to be there that is less likely to cause discomfort, and serves as a costume of sorts that is more likely to "blend in with the natives", so to speak. additionally, people will be more likely to approach the "Cool" cop. it's a smart attempt to understand or at least mimic the social culture they are trying to infiltrate and police within the community. plus they can always retire it and use it as a parade car or even debadge it into an undercover for the narc unit. i would never suspect an undercover narc to be cool enough, nor their department willing to fund the bill, to have hydraulics. that alone would throw me off, for sure.
Pretty soon you won't be able to distinguish law enforcement from the criminals. I see more tattoos on cops than accountants. I often wonder if some are gang tattoos. Pretty sure some are.

I still don't know how the guy got away with it one of the cops somehow managed to get a custom stereo snuck into his squad car was kind of a local known joke in one of the areas down here about a cop who had a window rattler in a squad car and was known for playing cop killer rap at night LOL. There were even a few noise complaints about loud music that turned out to be the cop car. Was two or three years when I was in high school guy used to be on night Patrol and would often play rap music in the squad car at night haven't even thought about it in years till I seen this about the lowrider.
This car was completed 10yrs ago. The homie Oscar in Spring Valley did the paint and graffics. MRJ did the murals. All the numbers on the car are fallen officers' badge numbers.
Police forces should be required to have at least one positive officer that makes people happy and not scared. I would definitely make a donation to that. And would feel a lot happier about seeing that on my taxes. Good job guys
