Watching these types of videos warm my heart every time. Me being a black male friends with Mexicans, worked with them, and just all around being closed, some of the best people I been around. I remembered going to my first Mexican party I felt nervous since I was the only black person there, but never felt unwanted. received nothing but love and have nothing but love and respect for the Mexican community.
lol don’t get so comfortable. Not every Mexican is the same. Not all Mexicans dress like this or talk like this. Not every Mexican acts the same. You still need to look out for yourself just like with any person. Just because someone is Mexican it doesn’t necessarily mean they will always be nice to you.
Being a black man born and raised in Dallas, I've always loved and been apart of Mexican culture. Rich history, beautiful women, great food and alot of good people.

Awesome episode, Peter! These people and their passions are so worth our attention and respect. I love how they took you in and so freely shared their lifestyle. I also respect your process, you asked 3 or 4 times in this episode if it was okay to include a scene and/or was it okay to have your kids in this video. Well done. Oh my, I love so many of these cars! As a kid who grew up in the 1950s and 60s, I saw several I remember new, when they came out.
Peter your work is truly fascinating. Your content is better then 95% of the crap on television, and the diversity of different cultures keeps the viewer interested. Take a bow!!!!
Sandy just radiates a different type of energy. A real down to earth Humble Queen with an edge. Thank you for inspiring so many people older and younger ,myself included🤎
Being from the East Coast I love the lifestyle they have. Absolutely beautiful cars , motorcycles, bicycles. These people definitely have style and talent
You know what... I smiled the entire time. I had preconceived notions about the area you showed me and the people within it. I was wrong. These people all seem so nice and warm to you. Thanks again for what you do!
What many don’t realize is. It takes lots of money to create a Lowrider, it’s classy, it takes discipline, education in finance or a Good Job you enjoy working hard at!! Low riders are the Trophy!
You bring out the raw reality of street cultures: it's beauty and the human side of bonding on shared passions. These people inspire us through your content. For instance the term "gang member" is actually universal to people. "Representing my neighborhood" and the social control that goes with it.
Growing up. We're going to the culture. I lived in a postwar project. Out west we stood up and managed in the 70's. I'm changing to my eurogenic mix, and the spirits of Polo and Magellan are up and coming back. We're the Gen X-2k bridge.
@James Bond i'm a bit of a 'iffy when it comes to grammar. I might suggest that I understood you from a condescending perspective. Think of a Bradford in the council houses.
So they for open borders but they will protect their neighborhood if you come into it? But if usa treats its border like that they are racist. These are just grown ups playing dress up who never grew up.
Nothing is male dominated. Women just have to put in more effort, and be outspoken when they know the industry you are talking about (i see this term overused in every industry I work in, tech and weed now and its untrue and I can prove it) You just dont see females trying to dominate industry or make business moves like men do because men are the breadwinners and competitive types.
Grew up in Echo Park in the 1970s and graduated Belmont High School. These were my neighbors and classmates. Lovely women and beautiful cars. I had left Echo Park for college back in 1978 and never returned as I served in the army after college, then moved around for work. Brings back memories.

Old School LA will never Die, I'm glad that the youngsters are holding on and taking over this beautiful culture. We are a rare breed that bleed just like you, it's a hard knock life growing up in the streets, we keep it going by fighting for our needs, it's not easy but really what is, we embrace what god has given to us, if you try to taketh away, we will not let you, we work too damn hard to get what we got and ain't nobody gonna try and stop us from exceeding excelling succeeding and accomplishing whatever it is we want for our future, family, and culture. God bless to all the cholas and cholos who do what they need to do to survive. I could only hope for the violence against each other, neighborhoods and territories to stop and hope that one day, we can all come together as one and get over who runs who and what and have a sick ass huge party and nothing but good times. wow! amazing the level of journalism of this youtuber. he captures the chicano culture well and makes it the more interesting and entertaining to watch. most people know nothing about this topic, myself included. his questions are right on point and they allow for persons to open up and speak freely about themselves, their lifestyles, ideas, feelings and why they are chicanos. here in this video we get a view into the lives of chicanas, a subject that has remained relatively shadowed by commercial tv and other mass media communication companies. the chicanas are nice people, quite friendly and fun women, many of whom were born or raised in the usa. mass media never shows this about chicana culture. usually only the negative violent stuff is mentioned and shown in mass media channels. so yes a very interesting educational and entertaining original content. the interviewer should be a professional journalist in my view and he deserves a medal for best journalist work on the subject. thanks

As a Socal'er, to any person outside of California, or South-Western US, I'd like to give my insight over my 30 years of living along side our Latino/Latina neighbors and friends. The Hispanic people are the most open, caring and approachable out of our melting pot of a country. It's 100% correct that if you approach them with respect, you'll get it back and more. I'm German descent, and I understand the pride they have for their culture, but they're happy to be here, and raise their families here. I'm glad to have them as neighbors and friends.
We Mexicans always merging west coast hood lifestyle or lowriders with Mexican culture !! They always put Mexican flags, Aztec murals, Mexican flag blankets, Mexican toys or anything that’s from they Mexican ethnicity into lowriders. Growing up on the other side of the world and only ever seeing these cars in film clips ect I always thought they were ridiculous, despite the beautiful restoration and paintwork. But seeing now the culture that surrounds it, and the identity it gives the participants, you can see it is really special. These folks have created something genuinely unique that represents their community and their background in Mexico. Kudos to Peter for allowing us to see this.
I love Mexicans so much. Coming from a Honduran and Colombian women, I see the difference in family culture and it’s so beautiful and comforting. Y’all are so cool
It’s also important to keep in mind, that just because someone is Mexican… they are not always expected to be like this. This is Chicano culture not Mexican culture in general. I got told I wasn’t Mexican because I don’t speak like “Chicanos” do. I dress normally. That just forces a stereotype to people. This is just Chicano culture. This doesn’t represent the identity of all Mexicans. Not all of us are part of this..
@@mysticqro950 I’m smart enough to know that obviously chicanos don’t represent all Mexicans, and that not all Mexicans are the Chicano “stereotype” as you say. I’ve been around a lot of Mexican people and they have been very nice and accommodating to me.

Growing up in ELA, there was a sub culture that came from the low rider. As many of our families grew up watching low riders, many of us were into mini trucks and lowered VW’s. I had both. We weren’t cholos and cholas, we were more into the nightclub disco scene. We also cruised Whittier Bl. Just a different section. Would love to see you do a video on this subject. Thanks, keep up the good work.
Yeah that was a big scene. In general car culture is popular in LA/so cal. 4x4s, motorcycle clubs, custom rods/hot rods, paisa truckin clubs, Asian import car clubs, etc.
That would be awesome. Mini trucks , cha-cha girls, 80s disco was definitely a movement in the late 80s that's sadly overlooked. I grew up in Whittier and though I was too young to partake....it definitely was something essential, cruising on Whittier boulevard also before the violence in the 90s put an end to it.
I LOVED those mini-trucks. I wished Toyota and "Datsun" (Nissan) still made that sized mini-trucks - they were a great size, got much better MPG, and were tons of fun.
Thank you for this video. As a first generation Mexican American, I had a few Tia y Tio that would embrace this culture and I also embraced when I was young ,but as a I got older, I was always stereotyped as a gang member/uneducated/violent/ghetoo etc which made me distance from the Chicano culture. This video seeing the female engineer in her chicana style really put a smile on my face, that I should have never listen to other people's thoughts about my culture. At the age of 27, that works in the operating room, I will start embracing my chicana heritage. Going to start getting some outfits now and gotta find me some hoops lol. Thank you for this video.
We're the Gen X-2k bridge.

wow! amazing the level of journalism of this youtuber. he captures the chicano culture well and makes it the more interesting and entertaining to watch. most people know nothing about this topic, myself included. his questions are right on point and they allow for persons to open up and speak freely about themselves, their lifestyles, ideas, feelings and why they are chicanos. here in this video we get a view into the lives of chicanas, a subject that has remained relatively shadowed by commercial tv and other mass media communication companies. the chicanas are nice people, quite friendly and fun women, many of whom were born or raised in the usa. mass media never shows this about chicana culture. usually only the negative violent stuff is mentioned and shown in mass media channels. so yes a very interesting educational and entertaining original content. the interviewer should be a professional journalist in my view and he deserves a medal for best journalist work on the subject. thanks

Made me feel like a kid again going to cat shows with my family. Viva mexico y ameica siempre 🇺🇸❤️🇲🇽
lol what the fuck is a "MEXICAN AMERICAN"?? you know that MEXICO is in the America Continent dont you??.
O sos Mexicano o sos Estadounidense, dejense de pelotudeces de "African american , mexican american" bla bla bla , parecen idiotas que no saben que quieren ser en la vida.

@@ChagossianCheetahwell we can't all be tall thin model types...sheesh..😮
One of the major reasons why I love California man is this right here collecting Lowrider magazines since I was a young kid and I still have the magazines always wanted to build one love the culture
From LA all the way to the bay too, I live close to the bay and there’s always been a huge lowrider culture in NorCal as well since I was a child especially in San Jose where all my family is from.
The Bay Area scene is dope because of the low riders but also the sideshows. Not to mention the truck scene bikers too
I'm in the East coast but got family in L.A Oxnard Pasadena and Glendale
I was born and raised in Las Vegas in the 80s. My dad and all my family were from Los Angeles. We had a small neighborhood in Vegas just like this but tiny in numbers.
I had a good childhood that a lot of people don’t get to have. After living in other cities/states my experience as a kid made me feel stronger anywhere I went.
I love everything about this, the people, the cars, the family togetherness, the unity, respect, everything.
i hate everything about this.
@@idontknow93960its ok to be wrong
