Kara, Nate, next time try the Bernina express from Tirano, Italy to St. Moritz, IN THE WINTER !!! the greenery in your video looks good, but in winter everything is white, covered with snow and even more beautiful. BTW it was hot in the train even in winter 🤷🏽♂️
Indeed, I took the Bernina Express in June this year. It was absolutely stunning and the most beautiful train route I've been so far - and totally worth it. I think everyone should experience it
First tip: there is a pass who gives "free travelling" during your journey in Swizerland and Liechtentein it cost $580.20 for 15 days in second class and it is only for travelers from a broad. Second tip: the 2nd class in Switzerland is really good like first class in some other country
Thank you both so much for sharing what I see as a great love story. What makes your videos stand out is the fact that you're both simply being yourselves. So happy you included the info about discounts at the end! We rode the Glacier Express in December 2018 (temperatures were more favorable inside the train lol). We were traveling by train through France and Switzerland and ended up getting the 2-Country Eurail Pass which also covers the Glacier Express. We just had to pay the reservation fee. The Eurail isn't perfect for everyone's itinerary because it is quite expensive on it's own, but if anyone is riding several "premium" trains during their Euro-trip it really can save you a lot of money. Also, if anyone just wants a "taste" of the Glacier Express they can just ride a segment of it. We just rode the segment between Chur and St Moritz and it was only 13CHF per person.
I took the Bernina express on my interrail this year and loved every second! It took a similar route (I took it from Tirano to Chur) I'm so glad you guys have been able to experience this!! Id strongly recommed it to everyone!!
I was in Switzerland nearly three years ago and I took the glacier express train also. It is totally worth it!!! I absolutely 100% would recommend this!
So beautiful! ❤️ Those views were gorgeous. But somehow my first thought with anything to do with glaciers would be quite cold...and you guys had to sweat it out...lol 😁 But I love how you approach everything and I’m glad you had the experience ☺️ And thank you Nate for the tip on how we can avail the offer for all the Swiss Rails; that was very thoughtful of you 🙂 And I loved Kara’s smile and support of you sharing all the info with us at the end ☺️ You guys are the best 🤗
I live just 3km from the train tracks. Many years I saw the train passing by and a couple years ago I decided to ride the train all the way from St.Moritz to Zermatt for a few days of Skiing. With my Swiss half fare card I got a good discount and ordered that 3 course meal in advance. Food was great and I had a happy trip with amazing views. As a local I can say that it is absolutely worth the money. Just try to avoid peak times in July and August. Sometimes they even got a good discount on tickets. Just look it up on the glacier express page. At least a one night stay in Zermatt or St.Moritz is a must. Please note that there are some stops along the way where you can board the train. there are sections of the journey for all budgets.
Hello! I am not from Switzerland but one of my best friends is. She told me that I’m Switzerland, planes are much cheaper than trains (opposite to here in Canada). She mentioned that trains there are more expensive than any country she’s been too. Idk if this helps anybody who may plan on touring Switzerland but that’s that!
ive actually driven the Oberalp Pass myself by car (and two other passes in switzerland) and i can confirm that anyone who visits switzerland should either ride the glacier express or drive through the alps by car. it is STUNNING!!

Definitely the nicest train bathroom you've toured so far, Kara! Love all the windows in the train, it makes the ride so beautiful when you can see that much of the gorgeous countryside!
For a couple who travel to Europe 60 times a year for work and have for the last 15 years, we grocery store picnic at least half the time in the likes of Italy, France, England, Ireland, Spain and Germany. We try to skip the restaurant and embrace the picnic and enjoy our surroundings.
“This is my first time being outside in 36 hours” - that line from Kara really shocked me when I first saw this. Now, after all the quarantining this year, it seems like nothing 😂😂
This is the first video I ever watch of yours. Randomly searching Switzerland travel videos. I was hooked. Binge watched all your videos and now I re-watch videos to plan my trips! Thank you both!
If you'd ride trains a lot, just go for the Travel Pass. What I love about Travel Pass is that for train rides that don't require seat reservation, you don't have to stop by the ticket office or machine at all. I basically just hop on the train whenever I feel like it, barely 1-2 min before it departs.
Ahh I am so excited to see your videos it makes me so happy because I sadly don’t get to travel as much as I want too but with your videos I feel like I’m traveling with you guys!
Second class will be a lot lot cheaper. Plus tourists usually purchase 4-5 day Swiss Pass that costs 250$+. U can travel unlimited for 4-5 days including Glacier exp (u have to pay only the reservation fee). One more tip- u can do the entire Glacier express route in normal trains as well which do NOT need any reservation fee. Say you will take train from Zermatt to Brig. In next 5 min, Brig to Andermatt, so on. Same beautiful route but different trains and even cheaper.
I'm planning a trip to Switzerland with my daughter to celebrate our 50th and 30th birthdays, and the first thing I'm doing is rewatching your videos. YES NATE, your tips are VERY HELPFUL :-) I don't mind spending money, but I LOVE a bargain, so thanks for the train ticket tip!!

Did this journey a few years back and found that on the GL express we were going too fast to really appreciate the scenery so we quickly left the GL and travelled almost the whole way by local trains, exactly the same route but much slower, stopping at all the stations and getting a much better feel for the country and we could appreciate the scenery a lot better. A lot cheaper as well, in fact with our travel pass it was free. Of course it is not possible to do the whole route in one day so overnight hotels were necessary but this was fine, made it more of a holiday.
I'm so jelous watching this from my boring job! Thanks for letting em see the world thought your lens. And the blooper are my fv part! I don't get why people don't wait for them! jaja
I have friends in Switzerland right now , and have shared this video with their tour guide and your channel. They appreciate the important information and videos you have shared. I also enjoy this channel. Love your videos!☺️♥️
Tip: take the Glacier Express in late May, during the weekday. You get a full four seasons during the trip, and way less people. You can take the Express in either direction but I really like best yours, St. Moritz to Zermatt.
Paul, this trip on my wish list for the biggest part of my life. Have done bits of it many times, but never in first class and never the whole thing. Said to my husband about 1 week before I found this vlog that for our 25 years I'd want to do the 1st class trip with a night in Zermatt or St. Moritz. Know both places well but agree with you that one should either 'catch' a great day in winter or else in the end of spring or middle of autumn season. I took it once in the middle of October for the part in Graubünden and I'll never forget it.
This seems to be such a breathtaking place, I hope I can visit sometime in the future when all this is over. Seeing and sharing places like this is why I love traveling and make videos so much!
Much appreciate your insightful video - yes Switzerland is indeed a very beautiful and scenic country. For years now (except for the last 2 years) my wife and l used to spend 90 days each year during summer with our daughter and her family over there. Never ever get dull with hiking (forest and mountain) and sightseeing of old villages etc etc. Their trains are clean and always punctual. The only issue over in Switzerland is the cost of living - in Switzerland say 100 grams of chicken fillet would cost CHF$3.50 whilst in Australia 1,000 grams (1kg) cost only A$8 - A$12.
I sometimes look at UA-camrs/travelers who go to Switzerland (where I live) and how they usually react is “OMG ITS SO BEAUTIFUL” etc. and what I think I should do (maybe also we,the ones who live in Switzerland) should love switzerland more than they already do. I heard that Switzerland is one of the land that you have to go when you LOVE nature and Landscapes. For me personally I LOVE IT NATURE,but for some reason just don’t see the beauty of Switzerland enough,I don’t see a lot of people seeing the beauty of Switzerland and I think that I should look more of that when I go somewhere else in Switzerland
Great vlog as always. Really enjoyed it and it brought back some nice memories. The Swiss half fare card is a good tip! It's also good to know that the Interrail and Eurail passes include (almost) all the scenic train routes in Switserland, like the Glacier Express, Bernina Express and Golden Pass. This means that you ONLY have to pay for the seat reservation. The seat reservation is also considerably lower during low season (including the beautiful winter months ;)
The notification itself of this channel's video fills me with litres of excitement that it keeps spilling off as I go through your videos! A big fan of your vlogs! Wish to travel the world like you! #lots_of_love
Kara and Nate they are such a cute couple. They are really living their life ,enjoying it by tour. And they really make good videos I like it I'm enjoying it .Thanks for making this videos.
Little precision as a Swiss: the half fare doesn’t give you 50% off. More 30% off. But it’s still useful if you’re planning on taking the train a lot. Otherwise, even better, there are some tickets you can buy for fairly cheap called dégriffés which give you a ticket for a train leaving at a certain time instead of the normal tickets which are valid for 24h.
some trains you should take: between oslo and bergen in norway (said to be one of the most beautiful routes in the world) and the sleeper train form stockholm to narvik (norway) it takes you to above the artic circle and especially the stretch from the swedish/norwegian border to narvik is so beautiful
Dont panic only in big cities loke zurich Luzern bern and so on its expensive outside in the Village its not so expensive. Trusz me only tourist things are
Even the Swiss Travel Pass comes very helpful. With that you just have to pay for the seat reservation for these scenic trains and regular trains, you can just jump in one and occupy any seats available.
Switzerland is so picturesque😲🏔 the train ride was a great way to take in all of its beauty! I always enjoy a good train vlog with y’all, and that bathroom was legit🚽🧼!! *Kara, I know you’re bummed about the microphone but don’t sweet it sister, the video was great🤓 Stay you 😘
Now at 70 I have been a train lover all my life. I like being alone so I never married or had a partner. At the end of the day you are better off by yourself. I also went on the trans Siberian railway all the way to the end and it was great.
Air conditioning is a bit lacking in Switzerland overall. My wife’s company in Zürich are only allowed A/C for the computer rooms. Another tactic for visitors who will do a lot of long train travel days is to get a multi-day Swiss Pass. A 3 day one is 232 CHF I believe, and three second class day passes with the half fare card would be 225, but then you have the 120 for the half fare card so 345 total. (I only know for visitors, as I have a GA pass which is a all year Swiss Pass - most trains, buses, boats, and many mountain trams all for less than 9 CHF per day)
I would definitely recommend Basel as a city. It is so beautiful and it is a mix between modern and old. I have a half fare and it saves me sooooooooo much.

I love your videos keep it up Kara and Nate and have fun!💚💚💙💙
Loving these videos in Switzerland ! Some of my favorites from you guys 😍
Thanks so much Emma! We are loving making them!!!
Kara getting shut in the train door is such a mood going into today 😂 also the DIY charcuterie platter looked so heavenly!
This seems to be such a breathtaking place, I hope I can visit sometime in the future when all this is over. Seeing and sharing places like this is why I love traveling and make videos so much!
it is ....I live there
Much appreciate your insightful video - yes Switzerland is indeed a very beautiful and scenic country. For years now (except for the last 2 years) my wife and l used to spend 90 days each year during summer with our daughter and her family over there.
Never ever get dull with hiking (forest and mountain) and sightseeing of old villages etc etc. Their trains are clean and always punctual.
The only issue over in Switzerland is the cost of living - in Switzerland say 100 grams of chicken fillet would cost CHF$3.50 whilst in Australia 1,000 grams (1kg) cost only A$8 - A$12.
the Swiss - German in the end is so cute! And correct as well ;)
I sometimes look at UA-camrs/travelers who go to Switzerland (where I live) and how they usually react is “OMG ITS SO BEAUTIFUL” etc. and what I think I should do (maybe also we,the ones who live in Switzerland) should love switzerland more than they already do.
Wow you travel around the world and now you are 200km away from my hometown. This is crazy!!!!!!❤❤
Missing my second home spent 20 years living the swiss life , Zermatt and St. Moritz a must!
I’ve been watching you guys for a year now which was when I wasn’t well from there I make sure to watch 5 of your videos a day
The notification itself of this channel's video fills me with litres of excitement that it keeps spilling off as I go through your videos!
A big fan of your vlogs!
Wish to travel the world like you!

...with Keanu Reeves 🎼🎶🎵...
I have done that many times. It never gets old. And it's much better than you think it is.
@@mjordan812 ...with Keanu?...
Ardalan M wow that’s insane 🏍 goodluck hope you get to do it
we love you Nate!
Those views are amazing! I could only watch on my phone for now, but I’ll definitely watch again at home, on a big screen!
Very nice! Switzerland is amazing! and the swiss chocolate😋🤤! You guys are such an inspiration! Thanks for sharing your journey with us💕
ST. MORITY IS MY HOMETOWN! I can’t believe I missed you 🤯😭😭😭
Nico Summer how lucky are you that that’s your home town!!
That episode was ok even with the sound. Good job with the editing Kara!
Without watching, I can say yes. All those views are worth it.
Thank you for making my day with your videos! After a long day it's always nice to watch a new story of you two!!! Thank you Kara and Nate! 😊❤️🗺🧳
Aww great to hear that David! 😁
some trains you should take: between oslo and bergen in norway (said to be one of the most beautiful routes in the world) and the sleeper train form stockholm to narvik (norway) it takes you to above the artic circle and especially the stretch from the swedish/norwegian border to narvik is so beautiful
I plan on studying in Europe this coming spring, and I want to go to Switzerland but I know it so expensive. Thanks for the tips!
Dont panic only in big cities loke zurich Luzern bern and so on its expensive outside in the Village its not so expensive. Trusz me only tourist things are
Taylor Y. It’s not that expensive, it’s quite on par with most of the other euro countries, I found 😊 good luck!
Corona says no
Even the Swiss Travel Pass comes very helpful. With that you just have to pay for the seat reservation for these scenic trains and regular trains, you can just jump in one and occupy any seats available.
I loved the picnic you brought on the train. It looked perfect! 🧀🥨
I love your videos, they are so soothing and it became my relaxing part of the day ! I love you guys
Switzerland is so picturesque😲🏔 the train ride was a great way to take in all of its beauty! I always enjoy a good train vlog with y’all, and that bathroom was legit🚽🧼!!
*Kara, I know you’re bummed about the microphone but don’t sweet it sister, the video was great🤓
Stay you 😘
Vous êtes un couple vraiment mignon et complice. Merci pour vos reportage. Vive la Suisse
Now at 70 I have been a train lover all my life. I like being alone so I never married or had a partner. At the end of the day you are better off by yourself. I also went on the trans Siberian railway all the way to the end and it was great.
Are you lonely
@@elisscaliving5864 No, are you? What a fucked-up dumb question
I like that you were super honest about the food on the train. I also dislike having to buy overpriced food.
They are honestly perfect for each other 😍😍
Air conditioning is a bit lacking in Switzerland overall.
