Glacier Express winter snow season, matterhorn
They should have separate space for family’s with kids and separate space for people with no kids.
Beautiful train and service - yes, and also the landscape!
I was increasingly mesmerized with the tiny details around the seat, like how milimetrically the folding table was designed to achieve maximum size, the different power sockets, individual tablets with an app showing the current location, food presentation, gosh!
It's a hefty price, but it seems an excellent money for value ratio, for sure.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Listening to that kid on the train would have drove me crazy.
Agree!
me too....i don´t know, why there are not more adults only facilities.....eg on airplanes, trains, cruise ships.....the can do a kid train ride, but i want an adults only ride too...
Being a foodie & home chef I would go just for the food alone! The scenery is a blessed xtra. Astonishing views!
Beautiful journey, no music and no narration! Thank you for sharing!
The Swiss really know how to orchestrate things correctly.we should envy and learn from them.❤
800 usd for 5 hour trip? ok=)
@@albert8997 To relax and see one of the most beautiful countrysides in the world? Sure. Flying the same distance in the USA between states could easily cost you the same (e.g. First class on Delta from houston texas to LA, California), you would be tied to an airplane seat, crappy food and unable to stretch your legs. Let's not mention what is there to see at 30,000 feet? Not much. Conlusion of the matter: 800 USD for a premium luxury train ride across the Swiss landscape is a no brainer.
@@JuniorShepherd It depends, 800$ might not be as much money in the States as it is in most of Europe, it is certainly a lot in western Europe. I took a similar train from Andermatt standard class, also in the Alps, and it was around 70$. The train was nice and the seats comfortable, same views as the luxury class :D. It depends on each individuals' economical situation. I remember spending over 700$ back in 2015 in just 3 days in food and drinks and I didn't even pay for the accommodation.
If you think orchestrating a meal is impressive, you should try to imagine orchestrating man's first flight to the moon! Or the Normandy invasion to liberate the Europeans who couldn't liberate themselves.
In Switzerland I believe teachers are paid 100k .. here in the U.K. 20k so we see the Swiss are loaded
Great trip. That's huge window with breathtaking scenery.
Zermatt for skiing is a top one in the world. During my business trip to Zurich I took 2 days off from corpo and went to Zermatt by train. I reserved a student hostel with a very good price and spent all day skiing in June. I was there with only 2 other skiers. Greetings from Poland.
I'm sitting here eating a bowl of Ramen Noodles while watching this. There's no justice in the world!
Why is there no justice? Have you done anything for it?
You've really exhausted the entire package. 😁👍 You tried/showed so many things, i love videos like this. You get an insight into a world that a normal earner never sees. The ride was breathtaking. Thanks for your insight, very good video!
Within a few minutes, I spotted the first bored Russians with a whining kid on board! ;-) Very nice trip, thank you for uploading!
unbelievable....this lady with the kid can ruin the whole trip.....
Normally, I do not like trains, but this one I like. It is very beautiful. I love the windows
Glad you like it!
Thank you! That was a very pleasant experience, as if I were there with you. Views are beautiful. Food looks so good, now I need a second breakfast :) Amazing, how they managed to build the railway so high up there
Thank you for this video. Such lovely scenery.
Nice video, beautiful, best scenery, excellent, super like, wonderful sharing my friend 😊
Great video. I will be taking the Glacier Express in August Excellence Class. Looking forward to it.
Switzerland seems like a heaven 😍❤️
It's like a hell if you have no money even swiss income cannot afford it
That was awesome! I loved the tunnel near the end.
I seem to remember that, on the run down from Zermatt in 1987, we had to wait for a few seconds while Private Federer finished loosing off his 10 rounds at the Swiss Army Rifle Range that spanned the valley and tracks! 😱😬
Stunning trip though through the early Spring snow.😉
I've documented the whole journey too as a silent traveller 😂 But its so nice from a different view, thank you!
thank you soooo much for this 🙏🔥
This was an experience for all us as well 🙏
Delightful journey with out leaving home! Thank you for posting
Thank you for the kind comment
Very nice snow, i love this travel. have a blessed week my friend! 💚✨
Wonderful video. I’ll have to save my money to someday book this train trip. It will be my first time to Switzerland.
Thank you for an honest video without narration, music or drama.
It could be a memorable journey, like many others, but depending on your point of view, it's either good or not so good. Stunning scenery and fabulous food is good, having to spend time in the company of fellow travellers with irritating habits is not so good. It's always worth considering your point of view before committing. 8:52
Of course. A longer journey is always a risk. What is so special about the 8:52 timestamp? I didn't see anything in particular. Just a guy taking video. These days, that is hardly annoying anymore...
@@JackieBaisa sorry I don't understand why 8.52 appears on my comment.
agree on being stuck around inconsiderate people - but at 800$ a head, i'd think that would weed out those people. one thing that i did notice on this trip video was how you could hear everyone talking - if kids get loud or there are older people who are "loud talkers" - that could also be very annoying........you make a good point.
I could barely sit through an hour for Church Mass as a kid. And I know I excelled at it as opposed to all the other kids. Now put a kid on a 7+ hour train trip. I think inconsiderate is not even the right word. Earplugs always recommended when commuting. Especially on this tour.
Stunning.
Should have a separate car for families. Something for them to do on a long ride.
We all need to work together to protect this beautiful environment
This train looks and seems really nice ❤
This is really spectacular!!
Nice.. I will try this summer riding this train.
God.... those kids never shut up!!!!!! This is horror class....
LOL, I agree
What fantastic views! The restaurant train is excellent too!
Thank you for an honest video without narration)
The wine service is excellent!
Looks like some kind of heaven on earth 😮
Yes it's sure one nice trip those with the train. I hav been only on S.Moritz
Gee...Next time I watch this video, I'm gonna pour a glass of wine and enjoy the ride right along with you! What a great video! What a great car! What a great meal(s)! What a great view! I take the American Amtrak long distance train journeys every year. NOTHING like this on Amtrak!
This is not a train but a tourist attraction on wheels. :)
Uauuu, quel délice...J'adore!!!
Merci beaucoup 😋
can't believe they let kids in, that is so annoying if you pay 800 CHF for a ticket and have to listen to that!
Also there are empty rows, why did they put you next to someone else instead of the empty rows behind?
If ever you travel to North America especially in Canada and in winter, you should take the “Canadian train” travelling from Toronto to Vancouver and stopping throughout the country while watching magnificent views for about 4 days.
Thanks for the suggestion
Great comment! This video is definitely about travel in Canada.
I hope I can do the trip someday.
Wonderful landscapes but awful food
Beautiful video 👌
Very leisurely relaxing
The most nerve racking experience I've had in mountain ranges was, after hiking for 8 days on the Haute route, from Chamonix to somewhere in Switzerland, I was descending the mountain roads in a small bus. Heart was in my mouth for a big part of the journey looking over the steep edges of those roads. Although the driver obviously knew how to handle the roads, things felt much safer when I was on my own two feet; my fear reactions to looking over the edge of roads was a complete surprise to me. I'd love to take this train ride, but would probably have my eyes shut at this point of the journey 00:35 😆
Anyway, it's an understatement to say that this whole area is 'stunning', really messed with my ideas of what this planet we live on is like.
none cares

Super nice standard train
Nice view 👍
beautiful scenery, although they'd have to carry me out of the train from all the drinks i'd have
Wow, do they push the booze lol.
The view, quality of service & food is definitely worth the price.
Thanks for sharing your experience.
amazing journey
paid so much and then the whole trip a child who can't keep his mouth shut. 😉
Coffee on a moving train,i like that !!! 😁
What a great trip the scenery around the trip was so beautiful
TAKE NOTE GLACIER EXPRESS: The majority of people who commented and wish to come on this trip, do not want to have to hear kids loud in the background! I am one of them. What about offering adult-only trip, or car, or both?
Excellent video, really well-made. I wished that for that price, in such a luxury context, you wouldn't have to deal with noisy kids and parents who have lost all sense of discipline, boundaries and good manners.
I felt like I was going there with you. I had a feeling that I touched those clouds which are hugging the horizon
I took the Glacier Express the day after riding the Bernina Express to Tirano Italy and back and the Glacier Epxress, while nice because I love all Swiss trains it was disappointing and for a very good reason. The Bernina express spirals through mountainsides in tunnels and has jaw dropping accents and descents still today. However the Glacier Express did at one time earn the title of Glacier Express when it went up and over through an icy wonderland. Since then they improved it with a long tunnel to go through the most impressive peak and while it makes excellent sense transportation wise. As a wonder of Switzerland it is knocked down a few notches.
Much like if San Francisco were to replace their cable cars with electric self driving trollies that are better in every way. All the magic and uniqueness of what a Cable Car is thought to be seems gone. To be clear, I would not hesitate to go on the Glacier Express again but anyone travelling to Switzerland for the first time or who need to economize or choose what to do and not to do need to know this so they can make up their own mind. ITs still a great trip.
Thank you
You mean when it went up the Furka pass? You can still take the steam heritage train over the pass. The Glacier Express is clearly overpriced and takes too long, better to spend the money on shorter but even more amazing train journeys, like from Zermatt to Gornergrat or from Lauterbrunnen to Jungfraujoch.
That is a great idea. And I love steam trains. There is nothing wrong with the Glacier Express it just isn't what I expected and as you mentioned it is expensive. BTW the Jungfrau is also very expensive especially when you get to the top and it is all fogged/clouded with no view. Thats nature and the luck of the draw I guess but something to consider for a person only there for a day and they can see its cloudy. Its like flying to Paris but not leaving the airport. @@wyqtor
@guidedmeditation2396 You couldn't have done this journey during winter times with the former Furka pass rail route owing to the fact that this part of the journey was closed during winter. That's one of the reason why they build the Furka rail tunnel, which also used for car transport
First class video. Liked 👍
Great video…. Too bad I couldn’t finished watching as the kids are “scratching my nerves” …
I agree. I would have been thinking in my head "shut the he'll up"
Dreams Come True.
89 hours with meals isn't a bad deal. however, once the trip ends, can you take it back to where you started?
Being an Indian and knowing that this can't be possible in India hurts me. Well, Switz more power to you.
Well, India has a lot of problems and yet it wants to be the global main economic player with more pollution and ruined infrastructure to show for.
It is perhaps your mindset that you don´t take criticism well.
@@Siranoxz Constructive criticism is accepted but stereotypes and misinformation won't be tolerated. India is no where close to Japan or Germany but it definitely not a country which western media and influencers portrays. India is quite complex to understand.
Gread video! Thank you very mach! 💛
Amazing views!! May I know when was this shot? We are still deciding when to visit and take this train ☺️☺️
early Feb
@@SilentTraveler1 Thank you! 🙏🏼 🙏🏼
I’ve skied in Switzerland and love all the villages. Soo much different than here in the US! I love the sound only but it would be nice to know what meals you were having, how long the journey was etc. on the screen or in the additional information text.
I believe the pamphlet and iPad they provide both have information on the trip, and you have a menu.
Amazing clip. Like it
J adore la Suisse en train 😁😁😄
The scenery is beautiful and the train has large windows to take it all in. Shame about all that screechy noise from the tracks though.
The design of the car can feel a little bit too open and the other guests feel a bit too close for comfort. It can get noisy in the cabin, especially with kids onboard.
A bit more soundproofing and interesting design on the car for ex plants or curtains would go a long way.
Hope someday when the rail system in Europe becomes so interconnected that we can see this type of service all over the continent for far travel, like train hotel-restaurant.
Imagine this on a Christmas trip in Europe.

Edit: I was so happy to find a non-blabbing channel that I didn’t even notice, you actually said the price, at the start of the title, without dancing around the question
Youre doing a public service with this channel; thank you
Wowww awesome amezing view in the train 👍👍👍👌👌👍👍

Hi there, really informative travel vlogs. Can I use your channel as a case study for my students at my college? If you have no issues, please let me know thanks.
Good idea having the iPads in case you get bored with the view.
Amazing shot at 8:15 - Loved seeing the snowy mountain before you went into the tiny tunnel :)

For $800, parents with small children should have their own car.
Unbelievable! I would have certainly complained

We did this precovid with a Swiss Rail first class pass. Total cost for 7 days travel was €300 plus a supplement for Glacier Express of €100 and €120 for Jungfrau. Well worth the cost. Prices per person.

Haha it was a soup. A delicious one
It is peas and served cold...
The other guy replied that it was delicious! Not too sure about cold pea soup! A secret with peas that not many people know! If you boil them for a long time, like 3 hours they will go grey in colour, the taste is the best!
On the menue it's listed as pea mint soup: ua-cam.com/video/aX_DlUUXOGk/v-deo.html
