I was there! My man Stu let me hand out flyers for the show that afternoon, then snuck me into an empty seat ON THE FLOOR. To see Keith Richards in such a small theater was amazing, the charisma blew the roof off.

The release in "How I Wish" is one of the things that separates Keith from all others. Its also what Keith is about, have a listen to how nasty that turn around is, only Keith can come up with that kind of change, and this is just one of the many he's done. BTW, I heard Ivan Neville saying working with Keith, he felt like he was working with the true heart of Rock n Roll, its so deep inside of him he hardly knows where it comes from, but its there. In this show, he's so on point, while I've never heard him sing better.

Aside from how brilliant this clip is, it shows that Keith can certainly hold his own without Brenda, his and the bands nickname for "Mick", he carries himself, and moves so gracefully, he can front a band as well as anybody. Onto his vocals, he sounds like he's been working on his voice big time, for he's hitting everything, and doing it very comfortably. One of the finest clips on this platform.

Sean McDonald, well, I wouldn’t go quite that far. But I definitely know what you mean by Steve Jordan’s drumming. I think he can swing though if he wanted to. He definitely has soul though and his soulful yet not so swingin style I think compliments with Richards loose and swingy guitar riffs and style. I think it’s a great sound, especially on “you will but you won’t” on this particular performance is a good example. It’s definitely more of a drive beat but then again Charlie Watts has quite a drive style as well but he has jazz roots in there that show in his playing. I think Keith must have been inspired by Steve Jordans rhythm enough to write and put out some pretty fuckin good grooves. The studio recordings of these songs I think work better. It’s a good solid and straight backbeat that sorta holds together the extremely loose guitar work, even straighter than Charlie. But damn Charlie Watts is one very interesting drummer in my opinion. Keeps you on your seat... happy new year everybody.
