This has been added as a preset in SD3 under the Metal/Heavy Rock Category labeled as Man of Sand. Looks to be the exact preset built here in the video. That being said, understanding the why behind each effect and mic properties, bleed settings as touched upon in this video is much much more valuable as it "teaches a man to fish". Simply pulling up the preset saved within SD3 is simply a fish. Thanks to Toontrack for a great overview of how to build this kit.

I would love to see a video where you nail the drum sound from the selftitled Mötley Crue album. That is really where Bob Rock made his most impressive drum sound.

Wow! SUPREME!!! Sounds Unbelievably AWESOME!!! I am in love with those toms!!! I am a Ezdrummer2 user......if this preset was available in Superior Drummer 3, I would WITHOUT HESITATION "cross-over" to Superior Drummer 3!!!

This is a great video. You guys have done a ton of work making SD3 - I think you would benefit from more "Here's how to make this sound" videos going into depth like the mixer and envelope settings and why you pick different drums/toms/snares/etc - A view of top down and bottom up sound selection.

goin off the Man of Sand preset.. its a good overall sound.. to my ears though.. adding a ludwig black beauty onto the snare stack..(i use the NY v3 6.5x14 1982) gives it more of that snappy crack.. in comparison to the isolated drum tracks. its almost identical..
I know you're not taking requests, so I'll present it as a challenge. Can you get the sound of the drums of Sean Kinney of Alice In Chains? Specifically for the song "A Looking In View" from the Black Gives Way To Blue album. It's one of the biggest drum sounds I've ever heard, and one of my all-time favorites. Although I'm trying to learn how, I just don't have the skills to decode it for myself.
dude ... not many people know what is really good ;) Drums on ALITV are Killer couse Randy Staub did just supreme job. They could do some update for this kind of preset for ROCK WAREHOUSE but there are many samples in this Alice in chains song, so there would be a lot of stacking, but maybe a preset for owners ROCK WAREHOUSE and SD3 would be a massive killer ;)

Even the same producer/band/gear might not be able to reproduce the same results as the Black album as it was a different time and feel that magically came together...sounds great though !

Yes. Superior Drummer 3 has 16 Stereo outputs that can be easily routed to channels in your DAW.

To all those asking for this preset, I spent some time more or less copying what I could see from the video, and just tweaked and estimated the settings I couldn't see. I just picked up Superior Drummer 3 a few days ago and this was a cool little crash course in how to use the software 👍

Hi Keith! There are plenty of presets included in Superior Drummer 3 (by Bob Rock, George Massenburg, Andy Sneap and others). Feel free to use any of those as a starting point!

hi, i need some help. im using superior drummer 3 with my electronic drum kit medeli, but when im playing and i try to stop the symbal with my hand this two cymbal keep sounding like im still holding with my fingers, someone can help me with this trouble, sorry i dont speak english very well.

One thing that would help is a bigger room, can you do that in superior 3?
Yes, it would be possible with SD3. Superior 3 was recorded in Galaxy studios in Belgium. It is the largest live room in all of Europe (330 square meters). We used 9 different sets of mics to capture this room. So to answer your question, yes there are bigger room mic sounds available in SD3. I believe the sound designer chose these channels because of their tonal qualities.
Toontrack awesome, I looked up the studio they recorded their album in, and it’s 1000 square feet smaller than Galaxy Studios, so I bet it can sound even bigger!

What’s the difference between ez drummer vs superior drummer

Thank you for your message! And sorry for the late reply.
EZdrummer 2 is made to be easy to use straight out of the box with great sounding presets etc. There are plenty of great songwriting features, including Tap2Find and Edit Play Style, however you have limited options when it comes to mapping the sounds to Midi controllers/e-drums, routing options for the mixer, and there are no included effects plugins to insert in the EZD2 Mixer
Superior Drummer 3, while still easy to get started, is a complete production tool that can do everything EZD2 can plus more with the extra features included in SD3.
It allows you to customize every aspect of your drums. There are many more features included in SD3 that are not included in EZD2. You have different options to shape the sound of each individual sample, as well as stack multiple samples together. You can also import your own audio samples to work with in SD3 to create your own unique kits. SD3 also supports custom Midi mapping, so you can adjust which sounds are triggered on your Midi controller or e-drum set.
SD3 also includes Tracker, which will analyze your recorded audio files of your drums and turn that into Midi, which you can use to further edit with the sounds of SD3.

Not “claiming”. But it is lol. Lars uses samples of his kits like crazy now to fill in parts.
Samples? Not a chance. Multiple takes with a lot of cut and paste production? Sure.
I much prefer the Bob Rock expansion pack.

pretty close, actuakl sounds a little less "clicky" than the original
To me it sounds very flat in dynamics and totally splashed. I would never hear it and say, yeah its real performance. It sounds amazingly recorderd, and extremely usable for mixing, but so far i never heard drum samples that sounds as good as real performance. It will need to pass few decades till that became reallity i`m afraid. Overal huge step up from SD2.
I wonder why everyone try to make their drum sounds like Black Album.

After updating the software the older libraries I had don't load anymore... what a junk!!! :(
