@@4exgold yeah you are right, I was over Hitler there. Think not fixed and open mobiles should be a ban, easy to show drivers use so no argument really. It takes a split second for the road to change but the pavement is constantly changing.
This is disgraceful, he's playing games on his phone then trying to take your camera, what would have happened if the witnesses weren't there to intervene? This man seems dangerous, mentally unstable, shouldn't be working with the public, very concerning that black cabs have criminal drivers like this.
The cabby's behaviour is disgraceful. Even more so is the lack of action from the police. They're quick to prosecute for phone use when the evidence is presented to them on a plate. But they ignore this. Obviously only interested in the low hanging fruit.
**Police reading this** Please deal with this guy seriously, the fact he was fully aware he could lose his career the second he was caught, means he knowingly committed the offence. He was clearly willing to use violence if others hadn't arrived, he's dangerous!!

@@ftw1540no it's to make the streets safer. I personally think the law is too harsh for people using phones when stuck in traffic, a fine should be enough. But if you're driving then a 6 point penalty sounds reasonable.
Crazy that the police didn't prosecute this guy really doesn't send a good message. Why on earth that guy thought it was a good idea to try and steal your camera is beyond me, but clearly he shouldn't be a taxi driver.
Police use the spirit of the law and not the letter of the law when carrying out their duty. Why would they want to give someone who probably has a clean record a criminal offense?
Use your phone whilst driving = nothing happens = nothing happens = nothing happens = something happens & now someone is badly hurt or dead. 100% avoidable collision. Find somewhere to park if you need to use your phone or wait until you get home.
Definite case of assault, just because he was in the wrong over phone use. Throw the book at him. How on earth he's trusted in a car with passengers is beyond me.

CyclingMikey harassed the taxi driver by telling him he was going to get his licence taken away. If he had just reported the taxi driver then the assault wouldn't have happened. Therefore CyclingMikey caused the assault.
Multiple cameras, two eye witnesses and he says you're lying, you couldn't make it up. The last time I saw something like this there was a little guy shouting The Plane, The Plane!
Pleasing to see passers-by willing to assist.👍 Very concerning that the police do not appear to be treating this attempt to stealing your camera (with its evidence of the driver’s law-breaking thereon) as constituting an attempt to obstruct (if not pervert) the course of justice (notwithstanding the assault, theft and potential for criminal damage to your bicycle).😮 I would not want to be a passenger in a cab driven by such an aggressive individual. CyclingMikey illegally harassed the taxi driver by repeatedly saying how he was going to harm his career. When a cabbie suddenly realises that there's such a thing called accountability. Does the law need to be underlined for people to take notice? Shameful behaviour indeed.
I’m sure given his behaviour he has gotten away with more. Being a cab driver he has good knowledge of all the speed cameras and red light cameras so he can flaunt the law and get away with it. This is why camera cyclists are so good because they essentially send the message to motorists that there is an omnipresent camera watching them and no amount of knowledge of the area can help you evade the law.
My favourite thing about this video is at 9:44 when a guy cycles along in the background, no hands, using his phone. This is going to enrage so many people.

Stationary phone drivers are still dangerous for many reasons: 1) The people using their phones when stationary are often the same people using them when moving. Being caught whilst stationary is a co-incidence, not a defence. It's easier for me to catch them when stopped, but so many were also seen using their phones when moving. 2) They are entirely unaware of people crossing the road around them. Even if you're only using the phone in each traffic queue at each junction (which is highly unlikely), then you're constantly topping up your mental distraction and are basically as disabled as a drunk driver. 5) Phone driving is worse than drink driving for distraction rates, and that's why it's part of the #Fatal4 behaviours that police target heavily. 6) Here's a police officer telling you that he has been on the scene for 3 fatal RTCs involving drivers who were stationary whilst using their phones, and then moved off and caused a collision: twitter.com/markandcharlie/status/1604073330751197184?s=20&t=uj8sgu7spu4cTyDqqqds2g 7) Policing phone drivers will help them stop other traffic offences too - it's vanishingly rare that someone only breaks a single traffic law like mobile phone use. 8) Parliament recently chose to strengthen the mobile phone law around stationary phone use because it's dangerous and the science supports this. I'm really not interested in this nonsense of "it's not dangerous when stationary, because it clearly is and it's clearly still very appropriate to catch these drivers.
A few days ago I watched a video where a police inspector was arguing with an auditor. The police inspector was not happy that the auditor was not responding to his commands, so he arrested him on the grounds he was causing Alarm, Distress and Harassment. At no point did the auditor touch the police inspector yet he was still arrested. This taxi driver physically attacked Mikey and tried to steal his property and the police did nothing. No wonder most of the citizens of this country have lost respect for the police service. Clearly this driver should be prosecuted for his actions and lose his taxi licence for his use of the phone. I’m surprised the cabbies, out of all drivers who are literally known to have to do 100s of hours of studying to become a cab driver do not know the phone law and its implications. I’m starting to think this goes beyond just phone driving and drivers acknowledging the law, but rather CM is unintentionally bringing light to us a bigger problem with our society and culture: our unhealthy addiction to looking at our phone screens. I think we should be asking ourselves as a society why we feel the need to look at the screen so much regardless of if we are in a car or at home.

Wow, from using his phone whilst driving, to street robbery, assault, what a tool. You must report this attempted robbery, if he had of got that camera off you, he would have been gone, you would never have seen it again,

They send four to seven police for a man with a camera because someone feels uncomfortable, being recorded in public, and police don't want to turn up when a man commits an assorted and attempted robbery. Typical of the police.
Taxis should not be treated as if they are somehow far superior to cars. Sure, they can carry a few more people and do not need to be parked, but they still generate a lot of traffic due to their poor space efficiency and pollute a lot too. Even electric taxis still pollute with particles from brake-pads and wheels. Trains, trams, bikes and buses are the future of urban mobility.

The worst thing about this is that this dangerous and violent individual is still out there without punishment. If the police won't punish him surely TFL should remove his taxi licence? If it hasn't been reported to them Icertainly am going to. I don't want that guy driving me around town.
Mikey, I really appreciate what you do, but as soon as you agreed to stop and chat to the taxi driver I thought that was a big mistake (as it unfortunately turned out to be). No it’s not. You can interact with the cars infotainment systems (traditional buttons or touchscreen), but you have to do it safely and with “due care & attention”. You can interact with a phone in a cradle as a satnav with the same caveats. The offence is having/holding it in your hand.
His estimate of how long he was on the phone varied, from not at all, two seconds, a minute, and two minutes. If he would lose his license for the phone use for 6 months, then for what else happened I should be permanent.

Would you still feel sorry for him if he ran over your parents/partner/child whilst playing with his phone. You wouldn’t, so his illegally behaviour needs to be reported. The consequences will forever remind him never to do it again.

I think the law is wrong re.phone usage. It should ban the use of a phone while the vehicle is in montion, not stationary.
Stationary phone drivers are still dangerous for many reasons:
1) The people using their phones when stationary are often the same people using them when moving. Being caught whilst stationary is a co-incidence, not a defence. It's easier for me to catch them when stopped, but so many were also seen using their phones when moving.
2) They are entirely unaware of people crossing the road around them. See here where a phone driver almost hits someone in the queue

3) They are entirely unaware of filtering cyclists and motorcyclists, despite the Highway Code requiring us to be aware of this.
4) Phone distraction lasts for a good time after you put the phone away.
6) Here's a police officer telling you that he has been on the scene for 3 fatal RTCs involving drivers who were stationary whilst using their phones, and then moved off and caused a collision: twitter.com/markandcharlie/status/1604073330751197184?s=20&t=uj8sgu7spu4cTyDqqqds2g

8) Parliament recently chose to strengthen the mobile phone law around stationary phone use because it's dangerous and the science supports this.
I'm really not interested in this nonsense of "it's not dangerous when stationary, because it clearly is and it's clearly still very appropriate to catch these drivers.

Well well well, he took the." knowledge" to pass his taxi examination, yet doesn't possess the knowledge to realise he can't use his phone 😮 I think he's the type who's previously done the same sort of thing by his attitude and he's got his just dessert, YEE HAR, cowboys yesterday and attempted robbery today Mikey, what are you posting tomorrow....👽👾🔭📡
So, he got away with it. Too bad, he deserved to be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. I'm glad that the pedestrians came to your aid. As a victim of violence, I am not happy that this person is able to go about their life as if nothing happened. Can you legally carry and use paper spray? Thank you, Mikey.
Mikey in the case of this happening again. Do you live stream to a cloud/channel ? In case one of these drivers delete the recording
He probably has an app that will automatically upload to the cloud when you start recording, I heard him say that he did have another camera so even if the thug cab driver had have got the phone it wouldn’t have made much difference, it’s just a shame the 🐷 didn’t do their job properly!
@@TheReverendJones-lv5bz I see, great to hear!
@@TheReverendJones-lv5bz no need for that. Remember there are thousands less of them than there used to be and the tory hostile environment, stoking hatred and encouraging law breaking, as well as the decimation of mental healthcare and social services, makes their job a lot harder than it used to be. They are people doing a job and trying to help within set confines. What do you do to try and help others?
I've said it before, I will never be convinced that a driver who has a switched on phone in their lap ready to use at any time, does not use it while moving.
I wouldn't have gone over to 'chat' with him. He deserves to lose his licence. Cabbies, more than anyone, should follow the rules. He was on his phone while driving, end of. He repeatedly admitted it. As for the assault, he should have been charged for that, along with attempted robbery.
This is what you get when you try to be fair. Just press charges with everything.
Mikey an anarchist? 😂😂😂😂😂
This taxi driver is aping tory mp behaviour - breaking the law, lying despite obvious irrefutable evidence, calling decent people 'anarchists'... it's absolutely frightening to see what the right wing have done to the UK over the last 14 years.
@@thebrowns5337Yeah it’s same here in the US but it’s always Antifa. At least we’ve had elections and a chance to vote them out.
I'd say it is a mistake to engage with a driver who is outside the vehicle. Especially if they have turned around to come and find you.
This bloke is a nutcase. He isn't sorry at all. Trying to blame Mikey and then attacking him. Unstable freak. Even after trying to steal the camera, he returns and still tries to plead his case and blame Mikey. I've never seen anything like it.
It wasn't me, and if it was it was not my fault! The new British mantra!! Do you use a first or second class stamp if you need the police?
Whichever you use your case will be ignored as the tories need to convince people cutting tens of thoushands of Police officers and staff actually reduced crime. Sadly there are many folk like this cabbie, i imagine, that will believe them.
The taxi driver committed attempted robbery (as well as the driving offence). If the taxi driver wasn’t at least prosecuted for the driving offence then that is absolutely outrageous and in your position I would also make a formal complaint to the police and TFl. I wouldn’t trust getting in his taxi as he unhinged☹
As soon as the guy chose to do a U-turn and follow Mikey, the situation had escalated. No surprises the bloke got physical when he realised events were out of his control.
@@borderlands6606 Agree. And when he stopped talking and started pacing it was a clear sign of escalation. When people are screaming and shouting it usually means they're trying to persuade you something. When they stop means they've decided to go down another route.
Yeah: say "pull ahead into that bay" and then just cycle across the park ASAP
one day this mikey guy will pick on the wrong guy...i fully understand the taxi drivers anger..
His anger at being caught breaking the law? Mikey didn't do anything to him, he did it to himself when he decided playing a mobile game was more important than concentrating on the road.
your not above the law taxi driver
yeah either is CyclingMikey. criminal harassment
1) gather evidence of minor lawbreaking e.g. driving briefly on the pavement
2) inform the victim that he's got dirt on them & try to make them feel that they are going to lose their licence & job
3) then bait them into trying to steal the evidence
4) then put the video on YT for clicks & ad revenue (thus humiliating & stirring hatred)
5) possibly also demands money & sexual favours
All the new EV cars have touchscreens so is it illegal to turn your AC on or whatever function is now on the touchscreen?
No it’s not.
You can interact with the cars infotainment systems (traditional buttons or touchscreen), but you have to do it safely and with “due care & attention”.
You can interact with a phone in a cradle as a satnav with the same caveats.
The offence is having/holding it in your hand.
His estimate of how long he was on the phone varied, from not at all, two seconds, a minute, and two minutes. If he would lose his license for the phone use for 6 months, then for what else happened I should be permanent.
In this case, I actually feel sorry for the cab driver. I believe he'd learnt his lesson after being caught. If his livelihood is being threatened, then it's understandable that he would have felt a degree of panic. Surely not every case needs to be reported, does it?
The cabbie deserves jail time for trying to tamper with evidence.
" I believe he'd learnt his lesson after being caught."
He doesn't look the sort that would learn from it.
"Surely not every case needs to be reported"
🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@Saranda4787 I imagine you'd snitch on everyone for the slightest thing.
Would you still feel sorry for him if he ran over your parents/partner/child whilst playing with his phone. You wouldn’t, so his illegally behaviour needs to be reported. The consequences will forever remind him never to do it again.
Utterly disgusting behaviour,
He even lied when u had it all on camera.
Hope he looses his licence, he should not be on the roads with mentality’s.
Hope your ok Miley, I imagine you were a little shaken up x
Love to watch where a human's mind goes when they KNOW they are wrong, but REALLY, REALLY don't want to face the consequences. Fascinating.
The camera never lies 10:33
Might be wise to avoid any further conflict next time, he obviously felt desperate, you never know what someone can be carrying these days. As soon as he'd doubled back, I'd have turned again and left him in the queue.
Disgraceful....should be prosecuted for phone use while driving and for assault...It's not your fault he was using his phone and probably does use it regularly...Deserves to lose his taxi licence immediately.
I wouldn't talk to him you never know what people might do
drama gets more views, thats why
100% Agree , Mikey is a little bit too trusting on many occasions, some would call that being stupid !!! The guy turned aggressive , he knows he can lose his livelihood , at that moment he may just do anything !!!
Great job to the people who stopped, a real credit, really well done, great couple ❤️❤️❤️
HI Mikey, I have been watching your video's for a couple of years now, and I do think you are doing the right thing in reporting these phone drivers etc, but I strongly feel it would be much better for everyone if you declined from getting into conversation with them. If you say nothing, there won't be any repercussions . Safety first Mikey!
But that is a big part of what makes these videos, as you say you been watching for a couple of years, you would not be returning if there was no interaction.
@@leaveourstatuesalone.3378 don't judge other's interest in videos by what interests you, then you can avoid spouting nonsense like that.
@@damionlee7658 I’ll judge how and when I like Damion, so shut your trap 👍🏿
@@leaveourstatuesalone.3378 ohhh, there's a real tough guy in front of your keyboard... Muppet.
HI , I fully understand your point about the entertainment value of Mikey's videos, but up to now, although he has had some near-misses, nothing serious has happened yet. Maybe if he gets involved with the wrong person (there are some very dangerous people out there) and he is badly injured or worse, then our "entertainment value" might not be as important. As you may know, just the wrong look at some people can cause a bad reaction, never mind about telling people your going to report them to the police, It only takes one bad one! Take care Mikey.@@leaveourstatuesalone.3378
Wow, that turned nasty quickly. Just don't use a phone while driving, it's that simple.
Keep up the great work.
Wow, you really have to go on hold for an emergency police call? And then it takes so long to get them to speak or get you help.
Wait till you try to get an ambulance
Broken tory Britain
Yes, I was on hold for several minutes at around 7am one weekday. I was astounded.
@@zed351 found the local fire brigade good for call-outs. Ambulance: took over half an hour when I had a seizure in august. As for A&E, that’s an experience steveloughran.blogspot.com/2021/11/achievement-unlocked-collarbones.html
Shout out to the tourists for stoping to help.I suppose that this can be alearning event for anyone who informs an illegal and dangerous phone driver that they are breaking the law and will be reported that no matter how reasonable they appear you must treat them as though they will lie/cheat/steal/attack to prevent the evidence reaching the police. Good work Mikey, take good care and keep stacking them up.
Mikey stop trying to tear down the fabric of the establishment by reporting phone drivers man! You're such an anarchist! You know how some people are smart enough to know what they don't know? This guy doesn't seem smart enough to know what he already knows. hahaha
