This is the performance through which I found Aurora's music a few months ago.
Actually, I was just killing some time and clicking through songs by Wardruna on UA-cam that night because I heard a song by the band in the series Vikings and I really liked it.
When I clicked on the video and read in the title that Aurora was part of it, I had no particular expectations and wasn't expecting anything special.
But the very first moment Aurora started singing, I was immediately captivated and mesmerised by her. I must have watched the video 10 times in a row and especially repeated the beginning several times, because it was so enchanting (the whole song really). I usually only listen to rock music, punk rock, alternative and some metal. Since then, I listen to nothing as much as Aurora's live music.
Hi from germany, this is a very old song from nordic germanic history, Odin and his Raven watching and knowing evrything because he gave his eye to be all knowing and it tells you how to get to Helheim ( Hel ) the place of the daughter of Loki, you have to cross the bridge over Gjöll ( the river of the dead ) which is the border river from the human world Midgard to the underworld of Helheim it is guarded by the giant Móðguðr, she belongs to the Jötun. If you reach the entry to Helheim the door is guarded by the hellhound Garm, which lets pass all who didnt die in battle, all who are convicted of murder, cheating or to bear false witness are going to the part of Helheim which is called Náströnd, It all is part of the Edda (nordic, germanic saga)

Great reaction, love this collaboration. It is through this song that I found Kalandra, they have a phenomenal version of this song. Might I recommend Songleikr and their song Ulvetime performed by Maria Franz and Christopher Juul of Heilung.

I love this song, and in this particular song they sing in Norwegian.
Einar Selvik plays several self-made instruments with roots from the same period in addition to being the main composer. Several of Wardruna's and Selvik's songs have been used in the TV series Vikings.
He also had small roles in the series 😍🤘
Hel isn’t the same as hell as many seems to think.
In Norse mythology, Hel is an underground realm of the dead where it was believed that most people ended up when they died. In Norse cosmology, the north is the direction of cold and death. Therefore, it is understandable that Hel is cold and unpleasant, and that the road there leads "north and down"

Totally agree with the point that shes the kind of supporting part of the song. What i recognized for myself that from the first time i heard this song where i got the feeling she got pretty much overpowered by his voice, the more times i listened to the track, the more i could hear out aurora. It helps when the camera points on her then her volume seems to increase in my perception and the balance between the two or inbetween them sounds more fitting.

I had the privilege to see Eluveitie live in 2011 or 2012, along with Amon Amarth, Ensiferum, and at least a few other Celtic/Nordic "Folk Metal" bands. I'll always remember it. I miss Anna Murphy's vocals, but love Fabienne's vocals as well. Aurora's vocals in this performance are unreal. I want this played at my funeral.
Most moving experience out of Scandanavia in the last ten years. Both Wardruna and Aurora are true gems. IMHO Wardunda are the leader in modern folk/Pagan/Metal and Aurora is Scandinavia's modern reincarnation of Jenny Lind. World class in EVERY aspect.The production is amazing for a live recording.

When they where singing they used old school “New Norwegian”, but when he was chanting at the end it was old Norse (kind of Viking language).

This concert was at Bergenhus Fortress, in Aurora's home town Bergen. She probably walked to the venue :-)

I personally think Aurora was laying back to be a back up vocalist as she has the power to drown out all around her. I think she respectfully sang with the band than over them. I think she was being incredibly respectful.
has nothing to do with that at all, she like every other musician up there has one role and has to fill that one role only, she was lead in the beginning and backup the rest as was the very intended arrangement they settled on lol.

Hell yeah, this was awesome. I agree about her voice needing to be a little louder. Also, I think it's pretty killer that you and your daughter are able to bond over and enjoy music together! My kids used to be open to some of the stuff I listen to, but for the most part, they have gone their own way with music and it's a lot of stuff that I just can't get into for extended periods (I try, though). Does your Mjolnir neckless have your name engraved on the back too? My mum bought mine for my 18th as an official entrance into my adulthood. The rest of my family have their names engraved in runes but idk if it's something you get personalised or if they just have them with pre-engraved common Scandi names.
