How interesting is that! Yeah, creepy eyeballs - what is that all about????? This is a treasure trove of antique advertising,
Victorian is one of my favorite airs the pictures the graphics I just love everything about it I even like a good day women and they’re beautiful gowns since I was not on acid free paper if I wanted to prolong it and keep it all together for the history, I would take the pictures out and put in a new book and you could create a cover and add to it. That would be really neat.
Interesting ideas for me to ponder. I appreciate your suggestions. I have to do something to preserve it. I agree with the acid free paper too. Thank you 😊 Debra.

A lot of the cards with the big-headed ladies and at the beginning there was an ad, are anti-feminist propaganda from when women sufferage began in America and before we had the right to vote.

THE CARD WITH EYES ON THE BACK ,HOLD THEM UP TO THE LIGHT AND YOU CAN SEE THERE EYES OPEN. LOVE THE EYES ONE. I DON'T HAVE ANY OF THEM.
I learned that later from a viewer. There's many of them in this book so strange a little bit creepy but cool!

On the eyes, if you held the card to the light, the eyes would show through the paper and appear open. I think it was the Victorians that had a thing for altering “closed” eyes to appear open, even on Memento Mori in some cases. You’ll see the eye area the deceased in the picture have been painted to appear open. Usually it was the only photo they had of the person, and while the gesture is understandable, the result is always creepy looking to me.
I've seen altered photos but the advertisements - are something I've never seen before until those in my scrapbook. THANK YOU M Orr. 📜 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
