Ok....I did a page 2day 😁it felt quite heavy..I imagine you encouraging me. Thank you I love paper "crafts of all sorts, and I find myself alone and not quite able to produce what I desire...I did achieve a page..😀🌹
I saved the playlist and have been watching it off and on today. I also listened to your podcast with Beverly, Louise and you. I really enjoyed it. Loved it!!! Thank you again for your videos and everything you do
Sweetie, I love your video. It's so professional yet personal. I'm 81 years old from Florida and have just discovered junk journaling about 10 days ago. Viewing videos on You-tube is a hobby within itself. Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
You are an inspiration to me. I have always been a paper / junk / tag / envelope collector but I never knew I could actually put those items somewhere. I have also loved to doodle, have always loved paint, but always felt so much anxiety because I can't draw a straight line, and I got bad marks in school in Art. But you have allowed me to develop and encouraged me to paint, and draw, and glue... thank you so much and a lot of love from Missouri.
I love, love and love the way you see junk journal! We have to simplified our lifes and you have it! I am a little bit fed up of too much bling, bling on journals. It’s to complicated and to follow you have to be rich because it’s cost a lot at the end! It’s a hobby for me....and I love again the simplicity of the way you do it! Thank you so much! ❤️🦋❤️ sorry for my English I am so French!!! 😂 😂😂
I think not seeking perfection is one of the most important things. This is what has been stopping me from getting started. I think that my work won't be good enough. I have realised in the past few weeks, I have been thinking that I need to just get started and lower my expectations. I have loved watching this tutorial. It's been a great help.
I absolutely LOVE the way you present "junk" journals. You bring a great deal of class to your teaching. I agree with you... it is absorbing and "a thing of joy!!!" I don't even want to call these anymore, "junk journals".... I see them as treasures. I love the passion as much as you do.... I am not a beginner of making these.. but, love your teachings so much that I watch all of your videos.
Loved this. Thank you so much. I am almost 68 and have always thought I haven't a creative bone in my body! Due to Covid I have taken the plunge. I am Loving it, feel such joy from doing it and am so proud of the end results. Your tutorial has given me such a boost, made a difficult time enjoyable. Thank you so much xx
My pleasure Evie. And just let me know if you have a question or I can help with a different video... We're all creative in our own ways, that joy from playing with paper... well, it's amazing!! Happy Tuesday!! Joie 😁💜
Thank you for this video joie I love making tags n pockets and everything to do with paper. I love journals and stationary but I don’t use a journal to write in every day, I just really enjoy making them it might seem silly just to make it to give it away but it’s the creative part I enjoy. I don’t think it matters at all what they’re called maybe we should call them joy journals instead of junk journals ❤️
I like Joy Journal a lot ..a lot better than junk journal.. in fact that sounds like something others could grow in their own joy in life as they focus on what they find joyful. Possibly help with depression etc.
Definitely Suzy we could all do with some joy in our lives especially now. Maybe looking through pages we have made with things that bring us joy, will actually bring us joy in doing so. I really do prefer Joy journals to junk journals ❤️
Oh thank you so much Joie! - I too have been scratching my head and say how the heck do I start. I love your presentation style. Just explanation, no histrionics or false over-exuberance. You have given me so much to think about and try. And your explanation about using found objects is spot on for me. I was having big trouble justifying buying special papers and toppers just to make up a journal. Your style goes back to the sort of things my gran used to make in the 1950s. Apart from glue (which she stole from my Grandad's workshop) she never bought anything - she called it a scrapbook and that's exactly what she made, books out of scraps she had lying around or could cadge off her friends. I think the beauty is by doing it your way. The book / journal means much more - its more about things that mean something to you and show what makes you tick. Again, thank you so much - I've got a lot of thinking to do.
You totally get it John.... Keep me posted, I'm keen to hear how you get on. So much fun to come on your journey! Welcome to my channel, welcome to the family 🤓👍💜
I'm so glad that you didn't just start making journals like everybody else did. Your channel is so important because what you do is not like anyone else and it is absolutely wonderful. I have learned so much by watching you and re-watching. I'm looking forward to the day when you'll be back live again. Prayers of blessings and healings from Albuquerque New Mexico
'scrap'book...i've recently decided to just call it scrapbooking. but it's not the "scrapbook" one thinks of with just photos. it's a junk journal...with scraps..new, old, found, treasured. i think it almost doesn't matter what we call it. as long as we're talking to each other in the community..we know what we're talking about haha!
❤️❤️❤️this confidence-building video. Your twinkling lights at the top of your desk match your styling personality. Thank-you for this descriptive video...
Your video has been inspiring. I've been so overwhelmed by the thought of 3-5 signatures journals that I haven't done any "junk" journaling, just watched video after video! After seeing your one-signature journals, I feel ready to start one of my own. Thanks for such a well presented video.
That warms my heart to read this. Thank you so much for sharing this... and welcome on board. Now you're totally, officially part of the family. Take care, Joie 💜😊
A signature is a collection of papers which form a chapter in a book. It's a really old term dating back to the days here in England when individuals creating the pages of a book literally signed each page. In junk journaling we choose how many of these signatures we want, ie, how thick we want a journal to be.... Does that make sense??👍😀🥰
I love your take on giving a journal a name. I think it puts you in a box. I have just come to call all of my journals, journals. Whether they are truly junk journals, art journals, altered or deconstructed books, digital journals, or paper pack journals. I simply love creating all kinds of journals for all kinds of reasons. So, I stay out of the politics of what journals are. When people start labeling things, it causes division. They are all journals of one kind or another. So for me, I just call all of my works journals and am happy with that. If other people have a problem, that is on them. With all of that being said, Joie, I love your style. It is very organic and very calming. :-)
I love to do all those things/projects with books that you mentioned! I'm not so much an artist as a crafter. And I like to collect little inspiring snippets and ideas. Also pictures of crafts and decor. These go into my books. I don't always do them the same, and I think, like you, that it doesn't really matter what we call them! I really enjoyed being with you this evening! Hugs! Peggy
Thank you so much. I found it very useful. It made me think more about my journey with Journals. I think I got a bit carried away with all the digitals available. Making smaller ones may help and complete them. I have found looking at too many ideas does not help me, because I want to try them all at once. Take care. x Blessings x Mariana UK xx
i call mine chill out books. i see them as storage for my creative work things that give me joy to look at things that make me laugh and encouraging words and memories. thank you for the video and taking time to share your knowledge
Your reference to feeling stuck and confused really resonated with me! Thank you for working so hard to perfect methods to “teach” and share your gift! If you didn’t live across an ocean I’d bring over some cookies 🙂
Thank you so much for this video! I have struggled with making "good" journals. You have certainly helped me realize that whatever my style, it is good. I am ready to express myself my way! You are a great inspiration. God bless you and yours.
Thank you, thank you! I'm a "junk journal" beginner and was getting sooo frustrated and confused. You are me feel so much better about getting started. Thanks again!
You're very welcome Ruth.... My word, it can just be so confusing at the beginning! I remember getting so frustrated too...all those terms! Welcome to my channel, welcome to this happy place. I hope to see you soon! Joie 💜🌿
Thank you so much for this informative video from a journal-creating newbie. Right away I noticed that many junk journals were not made of throw-away junk, but sometimes precious or purchased items! So I appreciate your perspective on various journals and the idea that it doesn’t matter what you call them. The creativity is what is important.
A very nice video, and I'm glad you pointed out that you don't need to buy, buy, buy. I just started Journaling, but have been scrapbooker and carmaker, and I have enough stuff. What I find intriguing is I never know what the end result will be, it just kind of forms as I go along. I'll be watching more of you!
I am so glad you did this video. I was always afraid I would not do a good job. Now I I know I will only do bad if I do nothing. That for the inspiration
Love, love, love your work!!! I’m just beginning but this is closer to what I see in my minds eye. My mistake is I’ve been gathering too much! The video is so very informative! You feel like a trusted friend :)
Welcome on board, welcome to my channel!! Life is simple here, and I try to use mostly basic supplies. Just let me know if you have any questions!! Great to meet you!💜💜
Thankyou! This is just what I need as I start my first journal! I’m not keen on the word ‘junk’ as people who don’t know anything about the hobby would probably consider them rubbish. Although Chantel over on Raven Compendium has just finished a true ‘junk journal’ that is stunning. In fact, I first heard the term ‘junk journal’ and thought ‘what’s the point of that?!! Thanks to some lovely people on UA-cam I now know better and realise they are wonderful works of art. So mine are going to be just ‘journal’ or possibly ‘botanical journal’ etc
So sorry Joie, I thought I had commented yesterday, but obviously just meant to! Lol. What a wonderful introduction to junk journals, I love your style. It’s so nice seeing your pretty face too x
Thank you for this Joie. I started junk journalling after watching all your videos. I love your style. I have since watched so many youtubes, made many journals now, and my style has become my own based on your guidance. There are some wonderful artists out there who make works of art journals and I felt I had to "improve" and it just became too complicated for me. Now, I am back to making journals with lots of writing and creative opportunities, the way I learned from you and am having so much fun. Thank you.
Hello Deborah... how are you doing my dear.. you’re as gorgeous as the moon and stars.. I don’t know you but would wish to know you.. I’m Jef and I live in Tampa Florida.. hope to hear from you, have a blessed evening. 😊😊
This was so easy to understand. Thank you for saying not to compare yourself b/c I know it's something we all struggle with sometimes. This has encouraged me to start one for sure!
as a minimalist, i'm struggling to embrace the idea of me making one of these journals (i always want things that have a purpose), but i enjoyed learning about this hobby. i've made vision boards/books, so it's similar but different. all good!
A useful video, Joie. I can now use it to explain to family and friends why and how I make mine, especially as they may be interested in having a go themselves. For me, it’s an affordable and accessible form of creativity, particularly relevant at this time when so many stores are closed during lockdown. I like your presentation style which is clear, concise and relaxed - I rarely fast forward through your videos to avoid irrelevant chit-chat. You are a constant on my UA-cam playlist. Well done on your success.
What a lovely explanation of this process. It's so important not to compare our work with someone else's. As a beginner I have learned more about my style and preferences by just jumping in and making mistakes.
Thank you so much for the idea and encouragement to get started with a journal that isn't overwhelmingly complicated - a single signature version with cardstock cover. Brilliant! I've seen the exquisitely detailed journals with 3-6 signatures, requiring more durable covering and complex binding methods, and wonder if I'd ever finish even the basic assembly portion, never mind the embellishments and journalling inside! I'm so inspired now to try this, because it feels actually do-able to me. Again, merci!
Merci!!! I have a new video out on Saturday in which I make a simple, single signature junk journal, step by step..... It's a fun one.... It might be helpful for you too ❤️🤓👌👍👍👍
I have been afraid of doing these junk journals but this video has made me feel more excited about trying it. The one signature journal seems less intimidating to start. Thank you ❤️ so much for sharing.
I have been collecting pieces for about a month, I have created a lot of art to go with the pieces, I bought 1856 Charles dickens book for $.50, and I think I’m ready to go. I have to say thank you because you have simplified the process, given very simple instructions that I can understand and follow. I think I’m really ready to go at it!
This was such a helpful video! Determining the direction I would like to go with my current art form through journaling and giving artistic pieces to the page is really exciting! Thank you!
What a great informed definition on junk journals. I don’t use digitals at all. 4 year olds can push print, clip and snip, glue and paste, and call it a junk journal. A lot of people are doing just that and calling them junk journals. I guess it is in the mind of the beholder, but I totally agree with you. A junk journal is a creation of stuff that would be thrown away! My style is like yours..... a little of this, that, paint markers, quotes, things that make me happy. I guess if that is considered a junk journal....so be it, but mine aren’t all trash on paper. Most journals I see on utube should be called vintage journals, digital journals, but to pay for stuff and call it junk??? Confusing to say the least!!!!!! This video is outstanding!! You just hit the nail on the head! Amen!
I think we all have moments when we get stuck Lavinia.... I'm sure that your creative flow will return 😁 Have fun and enjoy your crafty, arty journey! Joie 💜💐
What a wonderful and helpful video this is. I started making journals around two and a half years ago but I always listen to tips that crafters so graciously share with others. There is always something new to learn. Your presentation and examples were excellent. Thank you so much!
Thank you so much I'm 26 and don't have mamy people around me and most videos about junk journal ,although really usefull, make me feel like i have to spend money to by lots of rints and tools and stuff to begin cause i really don't have "the old things already around" or post card or idk thrift shop or anything of this nature! I've been into junk/art/.. journaling for years and neber dared to start them as every video i watch, i don't have most things in them or they don't come out good as i'm bot really an artist or whatever but videos like yours give me courage to try again as you simplify it and don't make a strong niche about them, what they're called or what should be used specially as younger generations just began working so can't really spend much and don't have time on hand either i even have to journal on the go so yeah thank you and all the people like you who share your struggles and thoughts on the beginning and dont gate keep journaling !
I love love love how you talk about starting smaller, finishable projects!! As a creative, it's easy to get carried away will all my "inspirational" ideas, and I have a lot of projects I want to start. Using a one signature journal is a great idea to get you started, but also not overwhelmed. We often feel we want to finish a project, but can get distracted by new ideas. Lol I'll be taking a page out of your book on that one 🥰
Thank you so much for this video. I really liked seeing your journal with one signature. I thought I must include three or four signatures, I was overwhelmed! You make it look like fun.
I find joy in the process of creating a journal whether it’s made of “junk” or other inexpensive, special, or found materials. Let’s share the Joy on this journey!🙏😊💕
I so agree, I have felt the same, I go with my own style now, and I must admit I never felt it was good enough compared to others I have seen! I am now more happy with my style of work! I have always made Junk Journals for family and friends! You have given me the confidence to follow my own ideas! I am on a very tight budget, but doesn't mean I don't have taste! I am going to make a journal for myself
Honey, you are SO very good at this - you have slipped right into this style like... like... 🤔😀 like something that slips right into something else. 😁 Keep it up, woman! 👍 Now, what to call "them". OK, stay with me... I had a box of screws that my friend used to call "itchy biter" screws, and I loved them cuz they always worked the first time for me, usually even without pre-drilling. I can't easily describe them to you, but it doesn't really matter, suffice to say that they were different from all the other screws. My friend was here and I asked him to pass me the box if itchy biters... he looked around and said there was no such box. "Right there... 👉..." "Those aren't itchy biters, those are..." (I don't remember exactly what he said, 🤷♀️ probably the proper name of them, the name somebody might use at the hardware store... 🙁😟🙄 ...yeah, AS IF!!🤦♀️) "THIS is an itchy biter 🔩!!!". So I'd been calling the name HE'd given to something, something else. I was using the dreaded "wrong word". At first I thought "...whatever, I'm gonna call THESE itchy biters..." but then I figured that it was HIS name for that specific screw, I can't steal it for MY special screws. So... I now call my box of what I'd mistakenly called 'itchy biters'... wait for it... I call them... Fred and Ethel!! (Gosh I hope you've seen I Love Lucy!) Yup, Fred and Ethel. The entire box of screws or one individual screw... Fred and Ethel. And everyone around here knows exactly what I mean. They are MY screws, the ones that are my favorites, the ones that never let me down... you get the idea. So call your journals... I don't know... Bert and Ernie, Bonnie and Clyde, Barack and Michelle... I don't think it matters. Call them what you want to, just create them and love them and always return to them cuz they're the best. Whew! What a book, huh? Dare I say, kinda SCREWY?? Ah ha haaa!! 😂🤣 🤦♀️ Have a fabulous weekend and I'll be watching you soon. XOX, MK 💗🌞🌵
This is a great video, with really helpful explanations. I enjoy having a go at your ideas, and am now getting braver at sharing my attempts. Thank you for all your creations! 💕
You are the first person I have found that explains anything. I have only started watching about 2 to 3 weeks ago. I have purchased a journal and glue, etc. I am ready to start and think I will end up in the art/junk journal category. I also have not seen anyone that wasn't a teen or 20-something. I am in my 60's and have time since I retired. I appreciate someone a bit older doing this. I have always loved pretty paper, books, cards, etc. So this is right up my alley. I have colored since I was really young. Anyway, thank you for the encouragement and the videos.
I 100% agree with you beautiful 🙋♀️ I've never left a comment but I've been Subscribe to you forever now 😉📚 you have always kept me inspired even when I wasn't really feeling Creative myself. Thank you soooo for sharing such amazing content ✍📖♥️
I really appreciate your idea of what junk journals are. The joy of crafting for me is how I can escape any stresses of the day, and create beautiful things from bits and pieces. Thank you!
Thank you so much for this video! I have found lots of videos here on youtube, but most of them are either about making huge junk journals with at least four signatures, or about making stuff to put in them, but it's hard to find one about the basics. A journal with one signature sounds so much better to me, thanks!
Thank you for explaining on how to start a journal. You are the only one that I found to say make it easy and try it. Enjoy the adventure of attempting to making something creative. I crochet and need to venture out to something new. Thank you. I am glad I came across the video.
I am new to junk journaling and this video is fantastic. It gives me ideas and some great advice on avoiding the pitfalls, like buying too many supplies up front. Thank you!
What a fabulous video, thank you Joie. At last someone who is talking at my level and not making me feel like I need to be producing these amazing works of art in my journals but I can make my journal for me, just exactly how I like it. I can’t tell you how much I appreciate this. And so lovely to see you ❤️
It took a while but I've finally crept out from behind that camera 😁 . It's so good to hear your story, your thoughts, and we can definitely just do whatever we want. I do know what you mean. I feel it too.... ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
And by the way when I said works of art , you know what I mean I’m sure, those perfectly designed and perfectly drawn and perfectly painted pages. However your pages in your junk journals, your creations of pockets and tags and everything else are true works of art ❤️❤️
I am just starting to make junk journals and have watched many UA-cam videos on journaling and junk journaling. I think what you make is a junk journal and I agree with you that it really doesn’t matter what you call it. I enjoyed your video. Thank you.
I loved this introduction to making journals. I have collected so much ephemera and have made some things to add but haven't actually made a journal to put them in. Probably because I fear the challenge and like you said I think I lack a lot of the tools and they are expensive such as punches, stamps, ink, stickers, cutters. I would love to have a sewing machine. Margreth suggested the doodling in of written stitches. I have become obsessed with finding everything that I start to throw out and look at it as a craft supply and a bit of hoarding ensued. I need to use them!!
I just stumbled onto this junk journal last night and in search of explaining what this is.... your video explained it all so easily. Thank you! I'm starting this journey this week.
This is such a helpful tutorial. I wish I had seen it a year ago when I first started. There are so many wonderful videos on this art, but it can be overwhelming to actually how to start. Your tips were basic, simple with lovely results. Thank you for this and for all your creativity you share with us.
Thank you, I'm rewatching your channel and reigniting my joy of journalling. I fell down the rabbit warren of buy buy buy and saw lots of perfectly presented journals and felt a bit intimidated and felt the need to buy loads of digitals then felt overwhelmed so back to basics for me I think 😊 Hope you are feeling better, you are a joy to watch 💗 💓
Hello... not sure if you will ever see this but "THANK YOU"! I have been sitting the last few days, blank, unable to start on any pages, etc. and just needed a fresh view of how to get started. It is so appreciated!
Hi! I'm new to junk journaling and I was rather intimidated by all the stuff I could buy for it, and your video is a real relief in that it reminded me: these are made out of JUNK! I want to have fun recycling and capture that silly thrifty joy when I was in elementary school and anything could be glued or taped down to something else. Thanks for sharing, really enjoyed watching this and I can tell I'll be rewatching it later in my insecure, self conscious, or over-thinky moments :)
What a lovely tutorial I've been 'trying' to make junk journals for some time and felt I had to buy things to do this, and spent more time watching...then turning off due to feeling I needed more supplies. I couldnt get over I could make something the 'I' wanted . Really enjoyed today's video , thank you
Joie, you have changed my life. I can hardly even believe it! I’m so grateful for you sharing your talent and wisdom with us! I’ve learned SO MUCH since I discovered your channel. Thank you from the bottom of my heart 💓
I really like your style of blending what your have instead of digital based. I enjoy the sewing, painting and drawing you added. Thank you so much. I watch all of your video except for two or three.
This video helped me so much. I'm fairly new at junk journaling and have been very stuck and stressed and have purchased way too many things, thinking I had to have all these things to make my journals look like the youtube journals out there. I will take your advice to heart and try to enjoy the process. Sometimes it's hard work having fun, lol!
Great and so encouraging video. I started last Dec after watching your videos and made my first (collective journal -thats what i call it). From things i had and loved it and how its imperfect. Cos those perfect journals and spreads had me down till i saw the simplicity you present and i knew thats my thing. I enjoy it so much and watch all your videos. I think your style is simple, elegant and pretty in its own way. Love from me. Diana
So True...here I am 3 years later, and feel so relaxed creating my Junk Journals. Felt everything you mentioned. Now I just create. 👍👍it has become a apasiona.
This was really helpful! I’m getting a journal, I was going to use it as a sketchbook, but then I fell into love with Junk journals and scrapbooking! The video was really clear and detailed, thank you!
I really enjoyed this video. I just started getting into junk journaling. I have made 3 haha. I like what you said about having fun and not feeling like you need to be perfect. Also, don't compare yourself to others was great advice. You sure hit the nail on the head with everything you said. Bless u and thank u!
I am just getting started with junk journaling, so can use all the help I can get! I have been a scrapbooker for years, but I am wanting to do some junk journaling now.
Thanks a lot for this video, dear Joie! I really enjoyed listening to you (and seeing you! :) ) and I can totally agree: most, or at least a lot of of the journals we see on YT I guess are not JUNK journals in the original purpose/idea, although they are beautiful, anyway. As you said: the most important point is to find out what makes us happy, no matter whether we can find this particular way in any definition. And your channel shows all the beauty and all the possible ways we can find our own style. 💕
Joie! So nice to see you this evening! I enjoyed your video so much. While I was watching, it dawned on me that I’d never seen anyone use greeting cards in their junk journals. I’ve saved so many cards given to me by family and friends and students. Some are very special and I’ll never part with them, but others will eventually they will be discarded. So now, I’ll be saving all of them and add them to the junk journal fodder.
and here's a Playlist to SAVE and SHARE to get you on your way! ua-cam.com/play/PLqbiR8lE_j3uao0GSCYvoBlcqwR2RJday.html

You're welcome ❤️
I’m still learning, too, and it is a fun process!
I've decided to use the phrase "handmade" journal if I actually put it together myself. Doesn't matter if I use "junk" or other types of supplies. 😊
Makes a lot of sense. I like it. 🥰
It’s an anything goes Journal. A “Whatever” or like you said a hand made Journal. I like that, because my last name is HAND!
Whahay, it's perfect!!😁👍❤️❤️
Totally agree mine take a ton of work and materials. Very little 'junk'. I will never call my ART junk.
I agree. It's custom made, or handmade, so it's okay to call them that.
You are an inspiration to me. I have always been a paper / junk / tag / envelope collector but I never knew I could actually put those items somewhere. I like your idea that it’s your book and it doesn’t need a name or a category. You can do what you like and what makes you happy.
Exactly 😊❤️
Sooo nice to see the face to the beautiful and uplifting voice --- yaaaay! Thank you, Joie!

YES! JOY journals
Perfect! I think the journals give joy in making and giving!
Just got new smart tv, so I got to watch Joie as big as I am! It was like taking a private class. Well done, Joie! Thank you for a lovely jj session.
Ooh, that's kinda scary 🤭🤭❤️❤️❤️
Not at all, Joie. You did a very nice job; were very relaxed.
I'll be back one day 💜💜💜🤗🤗🤗🌹🌹🌹
It's great being able to use things from my scrapbooking days. Somehow we never threw away our scraps.
And quite right too 😊❤️
'scrap'book...i've recently decided to just call it scrapbooking. but it's not the "scrapbook" one thinks of with just photos. it's a junk journal...with scraps..new, old, found, treasured. i think it almost doesn't matter what we call it. as long as we're talking to each other in the community..we know what we're talking about haha!
We do, we definitely do! 😁💜
❤️❤️❤️this confidence-building video. Your twinkling lights at the top of your desk match your styling personality. Thank-you for this descriptive video...
Oooh how about that!!! I love it!!! 🥰🥰 Thanks Mary!!!! ❤️❤️❤️
I'm stuck on the term "signature". What does that mean exactly??
A signature is a collection of papers which form a chapter in a book. It's a really old term dating back to the days here in England when individuals creating the pages of a book literally signed each page. In junk journaling we choose how many of these signatures we want, ie, how thick we want a journal to be.... Does that make sense??👍😀🥰
This was an exceptional video for us beginners! Loved all the encouragement and positivity you bring to this wonderful world of "Junk Journals".
Aww, Linda, thanks so very much 💜💜💜💜
I love your take on giving a journal a name.
Thanks Lenella, very reasonable points. Great to hear these, lovely to meet you. Take care and happy crafting.. Joie 💜
Hugs! Peggy
Fantastic, I enjoyed being with you too ❤️
Thank you so much. I found it very useful. It made me think more about my journey with Journals. I think I got a bit carried away with all the digitals available. Making smaller ones may help and complete them. I have found looking at too many ideas does not help me, because I want to try them all at once. Take care. x Blessings x Mariana UK xx
I totally understand!!💜😁
i call mine chill out books. i see them as storage for my creative work things that give me joy to look at things that make me laugh and encouraging words and memories. thank you for the video and taking time to share your knowledge
That's a great perspective, thanks for sharing!! 😀👍💜
Your reference to feeling stuck and confused really resonated with me! Thank you for working so hard to perfect methods to “teach” and share your gift! If you didn’t live across an ocean I’d bring over some cookies 🙂
I'll put the kettle on 😁👍💜💜💜
Thank you so much for this video! I have struggled with making "good" journals. You have certainly helped me realize that whatever my style, it is good. I am ready to express myself my way! You are a great inspiration. God bless you and yours.
You're definitely good, doing it your way, for yourself 💜💜💜💜
I have been very excited for this video! I'm glad it's finally here :) Thank you for the work you put into your channel! ❤
I totally appreciate your feedback; great to see you here again! 😁🌹
Exactly!! ❤️😁
Fantastic, great to meet you Debra! I totally agree that we can recycle our supplies and we don't always to just buy more, more and more!!😁👍❤️
I am so glad you did this video. I was always afraid I would not do a good job. Now I I know I will only do bad if I do nothing. That for the inspiration
No worries - I throw my 'rejects' into a drawer - and revisit the drawer weeks, or months, or years later - then they don't look so bad. Who knew?!
These can often look like perfect inspiration..👍😁💜
😁💜💜💜
I just love your work I feel really relax when I follow you when I'm crafting your voice is so smoothing Sincerly hugs Liz from ont Canada way to go
Awesome, 😁😁😁🌹🌹❤️
Love, love, love your work!!! I’m just beginning but this is closer to what I see in my minds eye. My mistake is I’ve been gathering too much! The video is so very informative! You feel like a trusted friend :)
Welcome on board, welcome to my channel!! Life is simple here, and I try to use mostly basic supplies. Just let me know if you have any questions!! Great to meet you!💜💜
Great video. Recognised several traits of my own struggles with getting started. You are so positive and encouraging. Thank you. Kathleen
Great to hear this Kathleen 😁💜
Well put!!!🥰👍💜
So sorry Joie, I thought I had commented yesterday, but obviously just meant to! Lol. What a wonderful introduction to junk journals, I love your style. It’s so nice seeing your pretty face too x
Hope it made sense 😁 I think you understand these issues very well!! Always fabulous to see you, thanks so much for popping by to watch ❤️👍😁
So happy to have found your tutorials. Thank you
Lovely to meet you Pat!! Just let me know if you're looking for anything in particular and I'll do my best to help 😁💜
I agree re definition on what kind of journal to call it but enjoying the process of creation should be primary. You make lovely journals
So right, you are spot on 👍👍👍
You are a wonderful presenter and this is a very helpful video. Thank you.
You're very welcome
Thank you for this Joie. I started junk journalling after watching all your videos. I love your style. I have since watched so many youtubes, made many journals now, and my style has become my own based on your guidance. There are some wonderful artists out there who make works of art journals and I felt I had to "improve" and it just became too complicated for me. Now, I am back to making journals with lots of writing and creative opportunities, the way I learned from you and am having so much fun. Thank you.
Just doing it your own way, that's perfect!!
Hello Deborah... how are you doing my dear.. you’re as gorgeous as the moon and stars.. I don’t know you but would wish to know you.. I’m Jef and I live in Tampa Florida.. hope to hear from you, have a blessed evening. 😊😊
I so agree. It is mine too as well as riding my bicycle and admiring the beautiful. things around me and the awsomeness of nature.
This was so easy to understand. Thank you for saying not to compare yourself b/c I know it's something we all struggle with sometimes. This has encouraged me to start one for sure!
That's fantastic Ruthie!! Great to hear and welcome to my channel!😉💜
Your message is coming across as "you do you". So true.
Once l started doing this, Joie, l really started enjoying myself.
Oh that's fabulous!!!!❤️❤️❤️
This is wonderful, informative video! Thank you so much for sharing 🥰
Oooh thanks Rachel🥰🥰🥰 So lovely to see you, hope you are ok, hugs Joie 💜💐
as a minimalist, i'm struggling to embrace the idea of me making one of these journals (i always want things that have a purpose), but i enjoyed learning about this hobby. i've made vision boards/books, so it's similar but different. all good!
Fair point about purpose, thanks for popping by to watch and for sharing this. Joie 💜🌿
Wow, great feedback. Thanks for being so clear, helpful and, well, just lovely on a March Sunday morning!! 💐🥰💜
What a lovely explanation of this process. It's so important not to compare our work with someone else's. As a beginner I have learned more about my style and preferences by just jumping in and making mistakes.
That's a great way to move forward!! 👍😉💕
That's fantastic to hear.... Well done Deb. I like simple too 😁 Welcome to my channel...💜👍
Thank you...I am very interested in starting in making my 1st junk journal. Your encouragement is wonderful. 😍
Glad to be of use! Thanks a lot Andrea 😁❤️👍👍👍
You're absolutely ready to go!!! And you're very welcome!!🥰👍💜💜💜
This was such a helpful video! Determining the direction I would like to go with my current art form through journaling and giving artistic pieces to the page is really exciting! Thank you!
My pleasure Kristin.... you're very welcome! 💜😄
Amen!
Awww, thank you!! And so many wise words from you!!! Thanks so much Kandice 😁💜
Loved your art journal! I started my first one this year and completed a few pages. But have been stuck. I like the idea of adding pockets. 😊
I think we all have moments when we get stuck Lavinia.... I'm sure that your creative flow will return 😁 Have fun and enjoy your crafty, arty journey! Joie 💜💐
Wow! Thank you for the great talk about junk journals. It was awesome. I will be watching you more. Have a great day🌺🌸🌷
You too Cindy!! thanks for popping by to watch 😊❤️👍
What a wonderful and helpful video this is. I started making journals around two and a half years ago but I always listen to tips that crafters so graciously share with others. There is always something new to learn. Your presentation and examples were excellent. Thank you so much!
That's great to hear Eileen!❤️😁
Thank you so much
I'm 26 and don't have mamy people around me and most videos about junk journal ,although really usefull, make me feel like i have to spend money to by lots of rints and tools and stuff to begin cause i really don't have "the old things already around" or post card or idk thrift shop or anything of this nature!
So true!!!! I'm making a single signature journal in Saturday's video.... Simple is good 👌👍😄💐💜💜💜
Thank you so much for this video. I really liked seeing your journal with one signature. I thought I must include three or four signatures, I was overwhelmed! You make it look like fun.
It's definitely fun, and I like simple too. Thanks so much for popping by to watch Carole!!😁💜
I find joy in the process of creating a journal whether it’s made of “junk” or other inexpensive, special, or found materials. Let’s share the Joy on this journey!🙏😊💕
Absolutely!!! Let's do it!!!!! 😁👍💜
Sometimes the constraints of a budget can just make us even more creative and individual with our designs 😁💜
Honey, you are SO very good at this - you have slipped right into this style like... like... 🤔😀 like something that slips right into something else. 😁 Keep it up, woman! 👍
Now, what to call "them".
Have a fabulous weekend and I'll be watching you soon. XOX, MK 💗🌞🌵
Ha, Ha, ha!
How about 'Han and Leia' or 'Luke and Obi-wan' or 'Vader and Yoda'? You guessed it, I'm a Star Wars fan!
You've made me really think now!! My little boxes of Digi cut outs are called Tracie and Andrea 🤣🤣🤣
@@joiedefi ...LOL! Why am I not the least bit surprised that you and I are on the same page.
@@nuvoclassic LOVE it!! Simply LOVE it! MK
thanks for sharing, I have not crafted in years, hoping one of these days to have the time and space for it again
I hope you do too 💜💜
This is a great video, with really helpful explanations. I enjoy having a go at your ideas, and am now getting braver at sharing my attempts. Thank you for all your creations! 💕
It's always fabulous to see your makes!
Thank you. It’s fun to do! 🤗
I totally understand!! I now know that there are plenty of us "older" ones who enjoy this, so welcome on board, welcome to the family!!👍💜😁😁🥰
@@joiedefi Thank you!
I 100% agree with you beautiful 🙋♀️
I've never left a comment but I've been Subscribe to you forever now 😉📚 you have always kept me inspired even when I wasn't really feeling Creative myself. Thank you soooo for sharing such amazing content ✍📖♥️
Aww, thanks, great to see you here Cat!!! 😁👍💜
I really appreciate your idea of what junk journals are. The joy of crafting for me is how I can escape any stresses of the day, and create beautiful things from bits and pieces. Thank you!
I totally understand where you're coming from 🥰👍
I aways feel more like junk journaling when I watch your tutorials thank you
Sounds good to me!! I do the same when I'm playing around at my craft desk.... I put videos on. Lifts the mood👍💜 Happy weekend Sandy! 😁
I feel like using an old book, gives it a second or third life. So that it's never, ever wasted.
Fantastic!!! Let me know if you are interested in anything in particular and I will try to help!! Welcome to my channel!🥰👍💜
I am new to junk journaling and this video is fantastic. It gives me ideas and some great advice on avoiding the pitfalls, like buying too many supplies up front. Thank you!
Thank you for this video, I enjoy watching you. I really don’t think we need to put a name on things, just do what you enjoy, what makes you happy!
Exactly!! 👍😁❤️
A truly spot on video. I personally think that the phrase "junk journal" as evolved to a more of an umbrella term.
That's such a good point, and yes, terminology evolves.... Lovely to see you here, thanks so much for popping by! 👍😁💜
😁😁😁👍
I think they qualify as a junk journal! I appreciate your step-by-step approach as well as your gentle voice.
That's so lovely, thank you Rose 🌹💜
I am just starting to make junk journals and have watched many UA-cam videos on journaling and junk journaling. I think what you make is a junk journal and I agree with you that it really doesn’t matter what you call it. I enjoyed your video. Thank you.
Great to that Kathy, thank you 🥰
You are as wonderful as Margreth said you are,. What kind and supportive person. I'm so happy I found you.
Great to hear!!
This is such a helpful tutorial. I wish I had seen it a year ago when I first started. There are so many wonderful videos on this art, but it can be overwhelming to actually how to start. Your tips were basic, simple with lovely results. Thank you for this and for all your creativity you share with us.
You're very welcome Kat, it's great to meet you!!😁👍💜
Thank you, I'm rewatching your channel and reigniting my joy of journalling.
Back to basics is perfect! Well done Debbie!!👍🏻💜
I love mixed media creativity including but not limited to mixed media journaling. It helps with creative flow , that is what really matters for me .
It does help with creative flow, you are so right!!👍
Hello... not sure if you will ever see this but "THANK YOU"!
That simple joy, I totally understand!!👍 Welcome to my channel Tracy, welcome on board! 😁💜💜💜
I'm returning to this video again Joie - and appreciating it anew. Thanks so much!
What a lovely tutorial
I've been 'trying' to make junk journals for some time and felt I had to buy things to do this, and spent more time watching...then turning off due to feeling I needed more supplies. I couldnt get over I could make something the 'I' wanted .
Really enjoyed today's video , thank you
You so can!!!! Let's do this Caroline 😁👍💜
Joie, you have changed my life. I can hardly even believe it! I’m so grateful for you sharing your talent and wisdom with us! I’ve learned SO MUCH since I discovered your channel. Thank you from the bottom of my heart 💓
Aww Suzanne, that's lovely...you are too kind .... ❤️❤️❤️
I really like your style of blending what your have instead of digital based. I enjoy the sewing, painting and drawing you added. Thank you so much. I watch all of your video except for two or three.
Wow Sally, thank you so much!! Feeling a little humble actually 🤭❤️❤️❤️
What makes you so special is that you do you. Love and blessings from New Mexico
💜💜💜
Diana
I'm blushing 🤭🤭🤭🌹💜
Was also glad to hear someone talk about what a junk journal is.
So True...here I am 3 years later, and feel so relaxed creating my Junk Journals. Felt everything you mentioned. Now I just create. 👍👍it has become a apasiona.
Absolutely!!!!💜👍
I find you so inspiring in a positive way. Positive and calm - very supportive of our personal art attempts. Thank you.
The feeling is mutual.... it's a win-win😁💜💜💜
This was really helpful! I’m getting a journal, I was going to use it as a sketchbook, but then I fell into love with Junk journals and scrapbooking!
The video was really clear and detailed, thank you!
That's good news!!👍 Thank you!💕
OMG! I used to do something similar with my students when I was teaching. You have inspired me to set up and do this. Thanks 🙏 so much.
Awesome!! Let's do this!!👍😊💜
I agree with you. It does not really matter what you call your book. Just have fun making it.
Exactly!!❤️😁
Thankyou for a voice of sanity! I felt overwhelmed, but you have helped me relax in expressing my own style!
You have a great foundation from your scrapbooking days... it's going to be a LOT of fun! 😁👍
Aww, so lovely Alexandra 🥰🥰🥰
Definitely keep them, mine are all stashed in my craft room.....they'll get a creative use at some point soon! 😁😁😁💕💕
Joie you truly put me at ease! I do tend to criticize myself alot! But I'm taking your advise about just doing it my way! Thank you so very much ❤
You're very welcome
