I bought a 777 while living in France a year and half ago, I’ve been wearing it ever since - climbing, swimming in the salty sea and in hot pools even playing soccer - everything you can think of. Besides a few small scratches it looks and runs like the day I bought it. 👌🏻👌🏻

The King Manta Ray Turtle is my daily wear watch and my favourite Seiko design overall. The cushion case is a little bit of an oddity compared to what’s out there, yet it’s extremely comfortable to wear despite the presence it gives on wrist. The sapphire crystal and ceramic bezel on the King series make it just about perfect. I think my favourite thing about the Turtle is it’s not one of a million Submariner homages out there. It’s very unique, despite similar cases from Doxa and Bulova. You can still tell it’s a Seiko right away.
I love the dial on the Manta Ray. I had the green "Grenade" King Turtle on loan from a friend for a video and really enjoyed that one too. Nice to have the upgrades but still have the classic Turtle style. Thanks.

I've had a few over the years, and absolutely LOVE the SRPxxx Turtles from Seiko. I've finally settled on me SRPE07 "King", but this original 777 is such a classic. Another great Seiko Legends video Bob!! Thanks man 👊👍

I had a watch very similar to this (6309?) back in 1979 which only had 17 jewels. It was not accurate at all and I ended up selling it to buy a Seiko quartz diver (which looked exactly like the SKX). At that time, quartz seemed to be the wave of the future.
Cool. The 6309 have become quite a collectable watch these days. Same goes for those quartz divers. Thanks.

Great pick, Bob! I bought an SRP777 a few years ago on a Black Friday special for $230. I was concerned the size would be too big for my 6.5 inch wrist but it wears great on a gray nato. It's slightly larger than the 6309 but that really doesn't matter. This watch is really built like tank and will take anything you throw at it.
BTW, the clean shave is looking good!
Hehe. Yeah the beard had to go with tall the hot weather lately. I had the 775 for a few years and a couple other Turtles came and went. I really enjoyed how they wore and had to get one again. Thanks.
Love the Legend series Bob. I have 2 turtles the save the ocean ones. I have the SRPC91 aka the Blue Whale 🐋 and the SRPD21 aka the Great White Shark 🦈 love both of them. I have the Blue Whale on a uncle Seiko waffle black strap and a shark mesh matte bracelet on the Great White. Keep up the great work Bob.

I bought it in 2016, I had it until mid-2019. Excellent piece. I used it for everything, I had a UncleSeiko z199. yes i miss it I sold it in one of those attacks for emptying the box.
The bracelet is an upgrade I'm definitely looking to pick up. The z199 is a contender for sure. Looks great on the Turtle. Thanks.

I have a blue dial 773. The original bezel was so scratched that I bought a black ceramic bezel from Long Island Watches. The new bezel gives a subtle contrast. On a good day, it’s 4 seconds fast. It’s very comfortable. I like the steel bracelet best.

I own the Seiko Padi Turtle 🐢 and the King 🤴 Turtle SRPE39J1 Manta Ray turtle. Both are amazing and becoming one of my favorite Seiko divers .

So true. My first turtle was the Padi followed by five more who are all in rotation (Most wristtime trophy goes to the 777) with my Samurai (unbeliebable good watch with +4 sec a day). Only Turtle I don‘t wear is the limited Nemo ... beautiful but too flashy for my taste. So, if it comes down to one watch ... 777 it is.

I really love the design of the turtle. But would it kill Seiko to put an sapphire crystal on it instead of their hardlex ?
I just got the blue dial not long ago and love it (773 I believe). I was choosing between 773 and the King Turtle...decided to go with the more traditional looking one. Love the sapphire on the King and the waffle dial does look cool but the magnifier is the deal breaker for me. This piece will forever be in my collection 🙊👍
Just saw the new green King Turtle in person the other day. I really like it but still prefer the older models too. Especially at the more affordable prices. They're a nice watch too though. Thanks :)

I love my SRP full fat Pepsi... but one thing I didn't like as much, the hands and dial set so much, more the dial if getting it down to one thing, so swapped mine out for the SKX007 non Japanese version so it doesn't have the 21 jewels on the dial keeping it more true to the movement... I absolutely love it, the case is the hammer for me, fits perfectly and with drilled lugs makes it easy to swap straps... I do like the 777 as that would match my Bat mobile more LML :-P

I sold my SKX007J1 and picked one of these up. I love the SKX but the case and movement in this was a no brained for me.
Can't go wrong with the Turtle. It's one of my favorites from Seiko.
The SR 777 is the true Successor To the Williard and the price is great! All these luxury enhancements on other models are totally unnecessary! I like the SRPA 21 PADI also!
I like the Turtle, a very nice line. I have 3, the 777, the Padi, and the Blue/Black Fade. I basically agree we you have said.
I did not like the lens magnifier on the King Turtle, the day/Date is big enough it does not need it. I was very disappointed with the King Turtle, also way too expensive.
The Marinemaster 300 is another Great Seiko, going back to 1968.
They're a great watch for sure. I'm also a big fan of the mm line and would love to feature more on the channel at some point. Thanks!

Looking to get my first automatic watch, I have decided between this or a 5KX. Which one would you recommend as a desk diver?
I prefer the Turtle but depending on your wrist size it is a fair amount larger. Can't go wrong with either though.
@@TimeToGoTravelAndTimepieces Based on pictures of it on people with smaller wrists than mine I think that it would wear fine. And the lug to lug is listed at 46mm if I remember correctly.

Seiko has become legendary for their misalignment issues. Case in point, the one in your video has a misaligned chapter ring. Unfortunately, this has become the norm rather than the exception. The number of times I've had to send my turtle back until I got a straight one.
Come Seiko, do better.
I've had a couple that were really bad too. The last 2 or 3 newer one's I've had were pretty good though.
