Love my black Tortoise SRPH17K1. Amazing value watch from Seiko, one of the cheapest with 200m and sapphire. Sporty to a bit dressy, it's very versatile. Surprised it didn't sell.
The "Hulk Tortoise" SRPH15 on bracelet is probably the most comfortable in my 18 watch collection. Genius design and simply disappears on the wrist and slips under any shirt cuff. Yeah the lack of AR sucks but.... it's just so comfy on the wrist.
I love my black Seiko Prospex Save The Ocean Turtle SRPD11. My favorite part about it is the two different colors of lume. Your video this morning prompted me to break it out! Love watching your videos Marc.
Hi. I like these vids. I just picked up the SRPG13J8 JDM for US$195. The thin case and 200m wr is what drew me in. I didn't realize it was discontinued until I seen your vid. Maybe everyone will want one now. lol
Thanks for doing these videos Marc. Reminds me to hunt one down before it's too late if there is a model I wanted. Or lets me know I'm sitting on a gold mine, (okay...maybe not a gold mine) because a watch I own is discontinued...😊
Thanks for another informative video. I bought the green tortoise SRPH15 last February and so glad I did. It’s a great watch and the green dial is gorgeous. Judging from prices I saw 5 minutes ago online I got a good deal too.
I really like my tortoise. Have to say that it really sucks not to have a dive bezel. If they took that same case and made it a diver it would be my favorite entry level prospex by a mile. The size is so good but I use the timing bezel enough to wear the kind turtle much more often.
I've had all the really popular Seiko models in the past Sarb017, sarb035, Blumo, Skx, turtle etc. The only one I really regret selling is that Orange Monster 2nd gen my first mechanical watch in 2014 that you are rocking Marc.
I was waiting for new colors of the tortoise models. It is the perfect tool watch. Beautiful turtle shaped case. Cool color combinations. Perfect size case. Sapphire Crystal. 200 m. Look sporty and dressy. People just did not see how great they are. I have 5 different versions. Would have bought more if they came out with new ones I liked.
I think they might be discontinuing one Alpinist model. Was about to sell my SPB197J1, but out of curiosity I searched for them around EU and everywhere it was showing out of stock. I realize your clip is for the US market, but was curious if perhaps you heard anything about the Alpinist being on the chopping block..doubt it though. Very useful video. Thanks, Mark!
I like the Tuna but for me if I'm going to buy a watch with that kind of design I want the specs to match. So the only one I've thought about buying is the 1000m reissue and you don't see it to often.
My Tortoise is one I often grab. Great features, and a better case size and design than any Turtle in my opinion. The muted “earthy” colorways were a risk for Seiko most people never appreciated. And sapphire! If they had the courage to use acrylic instead it would be perfect (and perfectly un-sellable to buyers never educated as to why.)
7:34 You said “poopoo.” But seriously, I think the Coutura’s are the Vanacs of today. They are quite quirky and distinctive. They’d be good in a movie set in 2040.
Thanks for the info. I knew the Tortoise wasn't popular since I picked up three different iterations with 50% discount in sales. It's a watch that should have done better, the proportions are excellent. Still it's an ill wind. The Padi solar diver is a nice watch too, but I've seen several models with that blue Padi design heavily discounted in the past.
Still thinking about the Safari Arnie. Love the Tuna. Have two models ( Urban safari, save the ocean blue ). And emperor tuna is still on the to buy list
The Land Tortoise is not a bad Seiko watch if you want a cheap automatic with 200M water resistance. It must have not been that popular since you can get those watches pretty regularly at 30 to 40% off.
i recently just bought two tortoises, wanted them for years but never purchased them until now. I had a hunch they were going. 😞lucky I got two for 250$ a piece
Mark any chance of a Islander Alpinist and or Islander Flighty? Both of which are discontinued (although I know Seiko has reissued the Alpinist in GMT form).
This could be interesting. I do have a flighty but am excited to see an Islander version. Now an Islander alpinist I likely would be very interested in.
I was never a fan of the tortoise, that gen 2 monster on the other hand is absolutely gorgeous. I have a black and orange gen.2 and a Dracula gen. 2. I also have an islander monster in blue.
I have the SNE575, I suspect that not everyone was enamored of the globe on the dial. Personally I liked the watch, particularly its size. I’m a bit surprised about the DressKX, but then if they’re focusing on those three re-issues from the 60s then I guess they’re thinking about expanding that particular case and lineup.
I'm surprised the Seiko Essentials line doesn't sell better, *ESPECIALLY* those Tank models! Those things are delicious. Maybe the rest of the line just needs to sell at a price point under $200? If they're "Essential" they should be very attainable.
@@OHJAJOHHa! Of course they do. That was my point. They are so large, they have to continuously change things around. As for the cassette player, I believe Marc sells them in his website under accessories. Ha! That would be epic.
4:30 this one is surprising and disappointing. The bezel finishing on the NATO strapped versions of the DressKXes is more refined imo, with the side benefit of being less of a scratch magnet.
I've been using a gray dial one as my beater for factory work the past 3 years. It's got plenty of scratches and now has a sapphire crystal (learned the hard way not to leave watches on the counter). I just ordered a rubber and leather strap for it
