  • Seiko has more iconic watches than any other brand. It has changed the watch world and influenced horological history like no other, and nothing signifies iconic status like a nickname.
In this video I share a countdown of my top 20 most iconic Seiko watches including their unofficial, mainly fan generated nicknames, how they earned their honorary titles, and what makes them so special.
Ever wondered where names like Sumo, Pogue, Ripley, Stargate, Shogun, Sea Urchin, and Frankenmonster originated? Join me for another Seiko special for the answer to that question and a fun analysis of some of our favorites.

I bought a “Tuna” 600m Titanium in 1977 and have worn it every day since. Dived with it, crashed motorbikes with it on and even been in a plane crash that totalled the aircraft while wearing it. I am still wearing it today and its never missed a beat.

..yes, but remember a few short years ago Toyota were very bad in terms of corporate truthfulness and responsibility to their customers...as was Chevrolet...Seiko so far is faultless...and they haven't tried to cover-up their watches having been responsible for having killed anybody...to my knowledge...

    Hi TGV
So many legendary designs from Seiko and in multiple price layers too. I’m mainly a Swiss watch person, but surely understand you declaring yourself a Seiko guy. The unsnobbish and innovative attitude of the company surely make them a force to be reckoned with😊👍
I like many of the models, mainly of the more dressy kind. That you can get such pretty and high quality watches as the Presages at that prices is very tempting. So go on Seiko - make the Swiss work for their money😆
Nice vid, keep up the good work👍

Just wanted to drop you a note on how much you have meant to me and my new love for mechanical watches.
I inherited a Rolex Sub Mariner and started looking for watch channels when I found the Urban Gentry. After watching everything you had my interest expanded into the horology of of watches and I developed a real appreciation for the art of watchmaking. I decided to take an online class on watchmaking so that I would be able to further my knowledge of mechanical watches as well as buy broken pieces and bring them back to life to further my watch collecting. Now it is turning into a sickness. As I get further into the whole watch hobby at a higher level, I still always come back to your channel to get your insights and option on watches of all price levels. Thank you for lighting the fire.
