I'm from Finland and over here many babies sleep all their daily naps for the first 6 months outside in the stroller bassinet (from 2-3 weeks of age), so to us it's really essential. My parents had a canadian guy staying at their place for a while and he couldn't understand how one could let a baby sleep outside. To me sleeping outside is great (with a babymonitor), fresh air and all that. :)

Pumps should be free through your insurance if you are in the US. Also bassinets lay your baby flat which is better for development and more sleep safe than just using the seat or the car seat.

I thought so too. With my son I had different insurance 5yrs ago and completely free no questions. Now on my husband's blue cross insurance apparently I have to hit my deductible before it's free. Otherwise I have to buy and and maybe get compensated once I do hit my deductible. Crazy

I’ve tried only 4 kinds of wipes so far with my newborn… water wipes win hands down!
Free from crappy ingredients, the extra wetness helps clean diaper messes sooo much, and they don’t dry out like the other ones do!

For new time moms.. I think a pump is essential because no matter what you PLAN on doing, things can change so quickly with a baby, so if for some reason you need you would have it there and not have to wait on it if you ever need one. Most insurances will cover a pump. 🥰

I LOVE that you're a minimalist mom who's honest about what's needed and what's not. I'm in my 30s and never thought I could have children and pregnant with my miracle little girl right now. I'm terrified as this is unexpected and I'm already 5 months and was unaware for a while. We won't have much help from family or friends and all the products they have out there and all the MONEY I feel I'm expected to spend as a new parent is so scary. This video helped me the most so far and I really appreciate you and your honesty.

    • @alexadams2886

Congratulations on your little one!! Minimal is the best way to go. I have bought a lot of my baby’s stuff off marketplace. Also look for kids consignment things, tons of people selling kids items and as an expecting mom you can normally get first day passes for free. Only thing I’m buying new for my baby is crib mattress and the car seat. I will buy pacifiers and bottles used if they are still in packaging though.

To each his own but our (used and much cheaper) snoo has been the most worthwhile splurge. It can’t really be compared to a standard bassinet because of the smart soothing and weaning ability later. We’ve had 4+ hour stretches of sleep since coming home from the hospital and sleep is priceless at the moment. We cut corners elsewhere to splurge for sleep and for us it made sense and no regrets!

I agree with almost all of these. The uppababy still is my favourite stroller and the bassinet was used multiple times for napping and overnight trips while traveling or even outdoor naps in the backyard in the summer and using the included bug shield. Way more comfortable to sleep on a mattress than a seat. But it is very expensive and definitely a luxury. Having said that, my eldest is 6 and we are still using it. She steps on the board attachment. Brother is on top. And hopefully baby #3 will be in the bassinet at the bottom whenever that happens 😀 hopefully this video saves a lot of money for first time moms.

Agreed on all these! LOVE LOVE the velcro swaddles. If you are in a pinch regarding the mitts, socks work great. Also, my boys were newborns in cold weather and peed on me a ton. The stroller bassinet was a must have for me. My baby refused to sleep on his back and only slept on his tummy (for course I let him because he had great neck and head control already). He could sleep on his tummy in the bassinet while I was going for a walk or in the store until he outgrew the bassinet. Maybe don't buy it right away but if your baby is a tummy sleeper early on I would definitely recommend getting it.

Binge watching videos like this as I prepare for baby girl #3 in June! Feels like forever since I’ve had to buy baby products, even though my youngest is only three😅
ALSO: Formula feeding mamas, PLEASE don’t use a Baby Brezza. They are actually extremely dangerous for little ones. Not only are they a breeding ground for bacteria, they’ve also been known to use too much water in bottles, causing weight issues with babies and in serious cases, water toxicity which can be deadly. Not worth it!

After shopping she was so upset, I could only calm her down by breastfeeding and felt so exposed sitting in my car 😳😆
Just take a scarf or a muslin swaddle with you, and you're fine until your little one is able to play with it and pull it off with it's little hands 😉
Carrying milk in bottles around doesn't make sense in my opinion, only on longer car travels, where you cannot take your baby out of the seat without taking a long brake. Bottlefeeding and not having to stop for every meal is nice in this particular situation, although your baby should not stay in its car seat for too long in a row anyway. But that's the only situation where I found it helpful to have milk in a bottle with us.

    1) diaper genie waste of money was unnecessary and expensive may get ubbi binds it can use regular trash bags and 2)DO NOT get a baby Brezza it was awful major waste of money dispensed inconsistently and more of a mess to clean

where are you from? the way you say borrow is funny LOL but this video is great, there are so many baby items that are unnessecary and just take up space.

I hated the baby bathtub. So big and unnecessary. When my son was able to sit up at 5months he just sat in the tub. I would have just used a sling type.
