- In this recipe I used
3 parts finely sifted peatmoss
2 parts pulverized perlite
1 part sifted sand (fine sand)
3 parts portland cement. (in the video I said 2 parts but I used 3 parts.
Water to bind add a little at a time.
Let me know your thoughts😊
Found you today, got to watch a few of your videos. Your work is wonderful. Thank you for all the measurements. I’m in the process of gathering all the materials to make a hypertufa bird bath. Oh, Vienna, keep on talking, there’s nothing wrong with it. The kids are lucky to have these treasured memories for years to come. My mom passed away a couple of years ago. I have many voice messages, so I can still hear her. They mean the world to me. ❤
If you weren't chatting throughout your video I would not have watched very much of it. It is your chatting that gives me the info I was looking for. The stories are good for helping me understand where you're coming from. If some folks don't want to listen, there's a neat little place that can be tapped which has this amazing new feature that silences any noise coming from the video or from the device...
Aaaw ACC Thank you. I am glad you find the video useful. Thank you for viewing and your kind words😁

Well done!
Hi again, I enjoy you talking and being a bit goofy, maybe because I'm the same way .
I would like to see how you sieve the materials with the screen , did you build a frame and added the screen? Thank you .
Hello Regina thank you for your kind comments.
I actually use a kitchen sieve for the sand...well I don't use it in the kitchen any more I had to buy a new one for the kitchen...lol
For the peatmoss I actually took the canvas off of its stretcher. You know artist canvas? I paint too so I have those around. Anyway after taking the canvas off I stapled the window screen on the stretcher.
If you use a large enough frame it will cover the top of your mixing container.
I maybe should do a video about that....
Thank you for viewing😊
I just followed you from hypertufa . I love your moon face.💞

i love the face do u sell them if so how much
Hello Judy 😊 Thank you for viewing. Yes, I have sold them, $20.
I would have to up that now since the price of materials have doubled in the past year.
I hope your projects turn out well😊
Cant you do the same thing with regular cement
I suppose you could use portland cement and sand and make these faces as well.
I can't think of a reason it won't work.
I like the hypertufa mix because this ends up looking more like stone😊
Let me know how yours turns out😊
What is your go to thickness for items? Painting? what kind of paint?
Hello Andy. The moon face base dish is about 1 1/4 inch and I build the face on top of that all together including the nose this little moonface is maybe 1 11/2.
I won't paint this moon face.
When I do paint pieces I use outdoor paint Deco Art or even outdoor latex that I add a little water to so it soaks into the cement. After the paint dries I apply Minwax Polycrylic when that dries I use 2 coats of Rustoleum clear spray paint.
I instruct folks to keep these pieces out of direct sun for longer lasting color . Also I remind folks to bring these pieces in out of the winter freeze.
@@VennasNature Thank you! I went and purchased all the materials for this can’t wait to get my hands dirty! Lol I used to own a fiberglass shop and have lots of materials left over and need a way to use it up?? Thanks for your knowledge I will try my best!
@@Slaphappy-_- OH boy! I hope you post so I can see😊
Andy, you can use regular craft paint. I have made dozens of hanging pieces over the years. Mix your base coat color with a sealer. I use Behr concrete low luster. You can add other color onto your base coat. I have been sculpting these for years. If you use sand they can stay out all year. My mix is a little different. I create on a piece of plywood.
@@jonnagallucci4119 Thank you Jonna 😊
