Virtual Bart Completed No Miss Snes

- No-commentary gameplay of Virtual Bart. Super Nintendo. Usa Version. Game completed without dying in any level. Played with Snes9x 1.52. No tools, cheats, autofire, re-recording or save states were used.
Oh God, this was hell. Virtual Bart can be considered, in some way, the sequel to Bart's Nightmare. It was also developed by Sculptured Software and released by Acclaim in 1994.
The gameplay is quite similar, being the game composed by different mini games, although this time there is no main world to access the diferent stages (only the roulette).
Like in the previous game, graphics are nice, but the music is quite bad, as well as the playability. Most mini games are quite lame and boring, being the "tomato throwing" stage, the only one I found entertaining (and is the simplest one).
The game is hard. Quite hard. And if you aim for a no-death run you depend a lot on luck, because there are many random things that make this quite difficult to achieve.
The roulette's tendency is random so you cannot really select the stage you want EXCEPT on the first try. I always choose the water slide stage (just push the button when Bart's head is facing the pig) because is the one that depends more on luck than skills.
There are more random things that I will explain in the captions, but even knowing the game by heart (as was my case), there are things that can kill you by just pure randomness.
You can also obtain a game over if you get out of tries in the roulette and you can't do nothing against it, because it is completely RANDOM. You can see in 22:15 that I lost one of my tries in the roulette, as it is explained in the captions: "I don't consider this as a death because it's totally random. You can't do anything against it. I was even lucky because this was the only time it happened in the whole gameplay".
I think that this is probably the hardest Simpsons game. The Megadrive/Genesis version is even worse, but it is faster and easier (the only stage that it's harder is the motorcycle level).
In general terms, a not very good game that is really difficult.
Never beat the game as a kid. I remember renting this game at Blockbuster several times just to play the tomato tossing game. Good Times.
Symmetry same
i completed this game on my first try .
Saame
Never beat
In the tomato toss, if U hit Principal Skinner in the butt, U git Xtra ammo.
God the ending is so unsatisfying after all the torment you went through.
+sagesaria That's something usual in bad games. At least this one has some kind of ending. There are games which give you just a crappy "conglaturations" screen (with bad grammar) when you finish them.
sagesaria I
@@MrMaskaman Agreed
100th like on your comment!
@@MrMaskaman id have to say this isnt a bad game by any means, in fact its well designed and very tight controlled. it just lacks a storyline. very underrated game honestly
Thank you for this. This game kicked my ass as a kid. I never finished it so Im glad to see this.
@sean shanley i know im kinda late but the description says without dying in any level, the spinning wheel is completely random so only a TAS or a very lucky guy would finish the game without landing on that skull.
@@dracnornossai5173 the wheel isnt actually random i dont think, its completely the same every time so by learning its rotation after stopping at full speed u can actually make it never land on the skull/corn dog. i played this game ALOT when i was a kid. when i was at 1 life on the wheel i would always force it to put me back to 2, thats why i say this
The baby level is the absolute definition of nostalgia for me. I love the music, I love the layout of the level. I love how adorable Baby Bart is. That was my absolute favorite level as a kid besides the Pig level and it was the main reason I rented this game to death. Good fuckin' times =3
He was born bratty.
Yeah same! Except I played the genesis version and the music in that level was ear piercing.
How can anyone love that abysmal music?
Me too! The baby Bart, the pig and the dinosaur were my favorite stages, my sister used to play the rest of them, so many good memories 😁
"I can't believe I watched the whole thing"
- Homer Simpson
Seriously though, wow. This was one of the only games I couldn't beat in my childhood. I beat a couple levels, but to beat the whole thing is downright impressive. Congrats.
jaketheauroran Thanks Jake! The game is hard, and beating it without losing a single life is just... dumb, haha, but I'm very obstinate and I wanted to do it that way. It required a lot of practice, tries and luck. I won't probably play this game ever again, but I hope this video helps other people to beat it :)
***** Trust me, this gameplay is legit and it was done in one sit. Every stage has its own number of lives. You can't carry them from one to the other.
The worlds longest water slide, where you get to dodge sharks... Only in Springfield.
The tomato throwing was the coolest mini game.
With them nice mode 6 effects
1:05 Waterpark
4:26 Stone Age Era
13:59 Post-Apocalyptic Springfield
16:07 Baby Bart
22:29 Pig Bart at Factory
31:20 Tomato and Egg Throwing
Used to rent this game a lot from blockbuster and play it with my brother. Gotta admit it was really difficult (and I was pretty young) and some portions in this clip I never even saw myself, so this was awesome to see it played through. Thanks.
the motorcycle level was always the hardest for me. loved the tomato level music
l wish l still have this game
It's so much easier on the Sega version.
The best parts of the games is the tomato toss at the kids stage and the title screen/credits music!
zyber9 Yes!
zyber9 I just wanted to point out that for a game titled "Bart vs. the World", there really isn't a lot of "the world" in the game. No shit, right? Just Egypt, China, the North Pole, and Hollywood? Pretty fucking educational, right? When I was eleven years old, my whole world was video games, just locked in my room playing Bart vs. the Space Mutants and all this crap. And I wasted all my time on this shit! I want it back! It ruined my life! (drinks beer) Bart's my ass and Krusty's my balls! Fuck this shit. Now I'm gonna eat my own shorts. (the Nerd puts his beer down, rips out his boxers with his teeth, and devours it in a ravenous manner)
... I can't believe you can slow your falls/glide a bit in the baby section. I *never* knew that, and I never made it through that section
Sorry to hear that. I guess that's impossible to beat the stage if you don't glide.
Krusty in the caveman level has some wise lessons for all of us.
HEY! HEY! HEY! HEY! HEY! HEY! HEY! HEY! HEY! -Krusty the Caveman
UGA!!!
That video of homer eating the corn dogs, seeing bart, screaming, then eating the rest of the corn dogs has always been hilarious to me, also fun fact: on the Genesis version in the tomato throwing game, you can't throw to the left, no matter how spot on you are, it always misses.
James Swann I didn't know that fact! I tested the Genesis version and I noticed that most parts were easier, except the motorbike stage.
That's racist against corn dogs.
@@MrMaskaman Also the waterslide is harder in the Genesis version as it gives you no hints on which tunnel you have to choose so you have to guess which makes it artificially harder
@@PeruvianPotato the genesis version has the shading on the back of the guys shirt that points in the right direction each time
You have patience and nerves of steel. This game is frustrating as hell and you killed it. Great job!
Thanks John! In the end it's just patience and a lot of pratice. I don't really like this kind of difficulty that forces you to play a lot of times in order to memorize everything.
Me hizo acordar tanto a mi infancia en el Sega. Gracias por subir este fantástico gameplay!! Saludo desde Argentina
This game is absolutely merciless. Tried many times to beat at least two minigames in one run, never managed. Brutal. (Now I see it has such a disappointing ending too...)
This game takes me back to summer vacation as a kid, nomming lemonade popsicles and playing Virtual Bart and Bart's Nightmare.
That water slide level, man. At least the other levels are "only" really, really hard - the water slide level gives you only the faintest clues on which side to take (a brief arrow at the top, and the guy with the green swimsuit).
The avgn needs to review this
I remember this game well... the only "mini-game" I was ever able to clear was the baby bart one. It still haunt my dreams with pain and frustration XD
Dude !!! I’m 33 yrs old & I remember this like it was yesterday , the water slide & baby Bart were the hardest 2 ever . 👍🏼👍🏼
Holy shit that was impressive. Thank you for posting, and well played.
RunninRebelBen Thanks :) I really appreciate your comment.
I played this game so much when I was younger. I don't think I ever did manage to beat any of the levels :|.
***** Me neither. I could beat it after playing a lot with an emulator, but back in the day I couldn't beat any level.
I only beated the tomato and gave up
0:54 that noise was hilarious.
You know you get bonus points for hitting Skinner when he's bent over. And I should know, I've done it. :)
Raymond Szabo Yes, I know, but it can be dangerous if you hit him when he is not bent over (instant game over). It was the last stage and all the gameplay would have been wasted and I suppose I had become completely mad, haha.
I thought you got more time when you hit his butt, not points?
@@LaSoldier505, in the Sega Genesis version, it's Xtra ammo if U hit Skinner in the butt.
Rented this game about 7 times and ended up playing the tomato tossing mini game the whole time. The rest of the game was super hard especially the dinosaur and pig levels.
I can’t believe I can still remember playing this as a kid at my dads house. I was probably only around 4 or 5 then.
at 1:11 Matt Groening Cameo!
Richard Canipe Good sight there!
I remember renting this and Bart's Nightmare alot. I was obsessed with wanting to beat the baby level in this game because I love it and the music cause I loved ice cream trucks. I eventually bought a used copy of Bart's Nightmare when I was a little older at funcoland thinking it was the one with the baby level. I was wrong.....lol
I understand your mistake, both games are quite similar and based on mini games. I prefer Bart's Nightmare though. The baby stage is one of the hardest platform levels ever made. Some of the jumps are really crazy.
***** yeah, I never got far. I prefer Bart's Nightmare as well. Glad I bought that one as well but I need to pick this one up for from ebay some day. Kinda want it in my collection.
Bart: Just in time!
I never knew Bart’s diaper could turn into a parachute. That would have saved me a lot of time as a kid.
Something about Homer, dressed like a caveman, swinging a club seems very acceptable to me
HEY HEY HEY uga
Lmao!! 6:21
Thank you this was fun to watch. I could pass individual levels, I believe I passed each level on their own, but I was never able to pass all the levels together. Barts Nightmare was definately easier.
Thanks Skyler! This game was too hard for its main target. I would even say that it's too hard for almost everyone, haha. I don't think that many people could beat it back on the day. Bart's Nightmare was easier but more chaotic and difficult to understand what to do in the main hub.
YO WOW. Haven't played this game or seen any footage of it in like what, 21-22 years? It's so weird seeing this again.
This was awesome to watch, brought me back great memories Thx. RIP Ruby 1990-2006
Thanks Yudith. I'm glad that you liked it. I'm sorry for Ruby, I guess it was your pet.
honestly these games were guilty pleasures yeah they hard as hell but my friends and I played and enjoyed seeing how far we could get usually not very
The ending is very disappointing
@Enzo Hoingo I'm going to assume it's because there was no final boss/area after all the levels. That's what was disappointing for me anyways.
Same as bart's nightmare just a simple credits role
Nice work, I only ever managed to beat the egg tossing level, the others were too hard
That dinosaur level was hilarious
i have beaten most of the levels in this except the dino and the baby, but you rocked it man
Thanks a lot Jeff. The dino and the baby stage are probably the hardest ones as they are really long and tiring. The water slide level is also quite hard (in a random way), but it's a lot shorter and you can beat it just by luck. Just keep on trying man, and see if some of my strategies can help you. I'm pretty sure that you will eventually beat them :)
Same here. The dinosaur stage and the baby stage are the only ones which I can't beat. And I never even knew that it's possible to aim the tomatoes and eggs sideways until watching this video.
i give you props, i have tried this many times and the random nature of everything makes it hell. You can master the mechanics and timing of evertthing but can still get destroyed by the seemingly insignificant totally random bullshit. its quite frustrating.
Thanks! Indeed, it's a very difficult game and the no-death run depends a lot on luck. I guess that beating the game under normal circumstances is not as frustrating although it's still a bad game and not the best one to spend the afternoon.
The dinosaur sprites are perfect for video games like Denver the last dinosaur the video game and The Land before time where you'll play as Chomper the friendly tyrannosaurus in some levels
that dinosaur section is hilarious OOGA
I remember always rentin this game at Blockbuster just for the tomato mini game. The tomato and the water slide ones were the only games i were able to pass and sometimes the bike one. Every time I would get to the Frozen sections in the pig and dinosaur games I would die. The baby game got easier once I learned that you could Glide with the diaper but it was still extremely hard when you got to the circus area. Instant nostalgia when I hear the main theme, tomato and especially the baby music! For me easiest to hardest are:
Tomato
Water slide
Bike
Dinosaur
Pig
Baby
one of the hardest games i ever played, i look back and i think this was harder than the damn lion king
OMG, this is so much harder than Bart's Nightmare! hahaha Congratulations and thank you for doing this video!
João Paulo Escute Yes indeed! Bart's Nightmare has only one real difficult level (Indiana Bart), but here most of them are complicated, except the motorbike stage. Thanks for your comment João Paulo! :)
That dinosaur one is insane. Holy shit. That was a process.
So after watching PBG and Jeff play Bart's Nightmare, they mentioned Virtual Bart. After coming here to check it out, they are pretty similar, although Bart's Nightmare was cryptic, rather this one is just random.
Tyler Kennedy I also came here after watching PB and Jeff. But I also play this as as kid. I could only beat Tomato, Waterslide and Bike
HEY, HEY, HEY! OOGAH!
my opinion
(hardest to easiest):
Water slide
baby
pig
tomato
bike
Dino
i was really bad at the game,i could only beat the two easiest xD
I would change the order of some of them, but your list is quite similar to mine. I would say that baby is the hardest one as it has very difficult jumps. The water slide would come second because is really short although quite random. You can also pause the game to check the directions you have to follow in the man's swimsuit. And I would also change dino with bike. Anyway, this is just a personal taste :)
Maskaman directions in the mans swimsuit what do ya mean??
This game was fun. I didn't care it was hard. Never beat it.
No deaths... 22:16 hmmmmm 🤔🧐 haha loves this game and I never got close to finishing it thanks for showing me all the endings!
I explained that in the description (and also to many people here in the comments, haha). I don't consider that as a proper death, since it's totally random and there's not even skill involved. Just pressing a button and a random outcome. I didn't want to repeat the gameplay again, it's too tedious even for me
@@MrMaskaman lol dude no disrespect here i couldn't even get past the the first minute of any level hahah
@@ZombieHunterRJC Oh sorry, I didn't mean to sound rude! You were totally respectful. It just that I don't see it as a proper death but I can understand that others may think otherwise. I started like that too, not being able to beat the intro, haha. It just takes practice. Cheers!
@@MrMaskaman do you still livestream dude?
@@ZombieHunterRJC Regularity has never been one of my strengths, haha. I livestream sometimes on Twitch, but maybe once every month or even less. And now in summer I don't have time. Maybe I'll do it again in September.
The Waterslide is the biggest reason most people hated this game, there is no way to tell which way you have to go, other than blind repetition, because taking one wrong turn was instant death, and there was no way to tell if you went the wrong way until it was too late.
Actually, you can know the right turn if you look closely at the man in a green swimsuit. If you pay attention to his back, there are arrows pointing the way you have to follow. You can always pause the game if he goes too fast.
4:09 Earliest Poggers ever created.
the baby level music haunted me as a child
This looks at least 10x harder than Bart's Nightmare, and that's saying something. I forgot about this game tbh. This, bart's nightmare, bart vs. the world, the golden age of Simpsons games. There was also a game called Krusty's funhouse I think.
It's more difficult, especially some of the stages, but you can practice them individually. Krusty's Fun House is a really underrated game, but at that time, we all wanted action/platform games.
virtual bart y bart nightmare fueron mis videojuegos de los simpson favoritos.
22:43 “but, HELLO YOU…”
I've played some rough stuff but I don't think I'd ever try my luck on this game. Respect.
+Toomnyusernae Thanks! Well, I needed a lot of time and tries to get this gameplay. It wasn't worth the time, and I wouldn't do it now, but I wanted to beat the challenge. A no-continue run is more recommendable and more enjoyable.
I was hoping vgmaps had stage layouts so I could at least see the nonsense going on. Too bad it doesn't exist. Some of the things they expected from the player are downright harsh. Those old Super Nintendo/Genesis tough days will always be memorable.
That water slide level drove me insane as a kid.
6:37
Marge: ORAORAORAORAORA
Bart: MUDAMUDAMUDAMUDA
When I was a kid, 20 years from now, I found this game to be an amazing game. Now, while I'm watching this, I can't help but to repeat myself "this is so silly".
20 years from now? So you haven't been born yet?
It's weird to recall how at one point, Bart was the main character and the big troublemaker. These days, it's Homer Homer Homer.
For the swimsuit level on the SNES, I always used the color of the arrow indicator by Blinky on the progress bar.
+PlNGP0NG Yes, it's the best way to navigate through that level, although there is no indicator in the Genesis version.
+Maskaman there is an indicator on the genesis version. look at the man's swimsuit before each fork, he'll have white lines either on the left of the suit or the right of his suit.
Oh sorry, it's true, I forgot that there is no indicator in the upper part but it is still present in the man's swimsuit. Thanks for the correction.
The platform mini games were incredibly solid. I wonder why they never did a proper Simpson platformer for the SNES
I tried for days-DAYS-to finish the photo day level. The minute I saw "reshoot" on the screen, I literally ripped out the cartridge and threw it across my living room.
The voice acting sounds just like the episodes of the time and is a ton nicer than Bart’s nightmare.
Omg I used to play this game all the time. Never could finish though without dying it was cool to see the ending.
I play this game when i was a kid and its funny but I can still remember the music stage of the first stage and the pork stage exactly how it was
amazing run subbed and liked your videogame skill is crazy!!! :D
rob zombie Many thanks! I needed a lot of hours and practice in order to beat the game with a no death run. Probably a waste of time as the game is quite average, but I enjoyed the challenge :)
This game's ending was one of the first times i felt so many negative emotions all together as a kid
Definitely not a marathon safe game lol
Dang the baby bart level was hard AF
A word of Caution: Don't Hit Skinner, Edna K., Chief Wiggum, or Groundskeeper Willie!
You can hit Skinner when he is bent over but it was too dangerous to risk the whole gameplay haha.
The Mister Softee theme song!
Thanks for the video, I was stuck at the pig boss and didn't know what to do, but you saved me. I think I finish this game twice using save-state, no way I'm reaching your skill in this game. Good job, I think it just took me 2 hours with save-state to finish it.
Really hard game, the platforming isn't fluide
I'm pleased that my gameplay was useful to you. This isn't really about skill but time wasting. If I achieved a gameplay like this, it was because I spent a lot of time playing until I got it. And trust me, it's not worth it, haha.
The only death you got when you rolled and landed on a pirate skull!! But otherwise 99.99% nearly perfect!!
Yes, although I don't consider that as a real "death". It's completely random and doesn't involve any kind of skill. If I die in any of the stages it's my fault, but if I land on that pirate skull that's just bad luck, haha.
No way in the hell I was beating this as a kid . Genius business move for video stores . I rented this a ton thinking this time I’ll beat it.
Congrats some seriously tough platforming sections.
Thanks! Yes, it's not an easy game. The Baby Bart section is a real pain in the ass.
That shot at 36:00 was beautiful
Shitty game, awesome played, this game was bad, really bad (that happens when FOX let a shitty vg company like Acclaim to develop a Simpsons game instead of one which makes a good job like Konami or Capcom) i must give you some applause for have the patience and the skill to play and finish this bad game, sir you´re really good!
Thanks a lot mate. You are totally right. This game is horrible, but I like challenges (and Simpsons too). I needed a lot of time to master it and even knowing the game by heart you depend on luck in some parts. It was worth the time? Well, probably not, haha. But I'm happy with the result and being able to achieve this. Oh, and I won't play this game ever again, haha.
***** Heh that´s why i couldn´t never finish a game like this, i preffer a game for the fun and entertainment rater than challenge, i don´t mind some challenge in a game, but not in excess like this one you played. about if finish this game was worth your time? i think it wasn´t bad at all since it has a fun and entertaining ending and some decent cutscenes, if you want toplay a game which is a real lose of time then play Itchi and Scratchy, always the same cutscene between levels and the ending is lame as the one in the Ghostbusters from Nes.
this game is great. you all need to stop being so negative. it was difficult and had a great variety of challenges. i enjoyed playing this game for hours and hours growing up.
Eric Sepulveda Everyone has his/her own opinion. I think this game has a lot of flaws, and the problem is that it could have been a great game. Simpsons + minigames, it's the perfect mixture. Many of the minigames are frustrating and not even fun (in my opinion). I really enjoyed the tomato throwing part, though. If you enjoyed this game during your childhood, then I'm happy for you, because you probably have fond memories of this game and that's what it counts :)
something about this game and its visuals it was just so damn fun
I don't remember the fallout bike bit being like that. I remember it being a very long but straight path in a 2D racing format, you just need to deal with your attackers and keep your speed/time up.
I totally forgot about this game. I played it so much as a kid and never beat it.
Siempre me despertaba bien temprano para jugarlo los sábados !!!
I never knew about the diaper parachute... made it damn near to the end of this level too
I can attest the games ARE a pain. But the Water Slide and the Photobombing minigames were my thing.
The Tomato one is my favorite!
Oh god, that pig level must have been hell.
Dropping the time limit would improve this game. I didn't say VASTLY improve it, but improve it. I would always lose to time on the pig stage and I never knew the waterslide told you where to go.
Goddamn this game was such a pain in the ass to play.
Спасибо за прохождение бро, я в свое время только мотоцикл прошел😁
When throwing tomatoes and eggs, you can actually hit principal Skinner while he is tieing his shoes!
MrRiffraff84 Yes, you are right, but if he stands up and you hit him it's game over. It was the last stage and I didn't want to take risk! haha.
***** You came pretty close to nailing Wiggum with an egg though - I would've crapped my pants at that point.
I would have probably broken the computer, some furniture and then I would have retired to a peaceful life in a cave. I experienced that but with other gameplays I have uploaded. Fortunately the games weren't as frustrating as this one, haha.
wow you hit and hit and hit, hit hit hit hit and hit. damn i hate games where you gotta keep hitting forever just to get rid of one person
I also loved the tomato game.
Fun little game, I remember playing. Seeing this I don't think I beat many of these stages if any though... Same with Bart's Nightmare, I would always get half the pages then never know how to make more show up. XD
I used to love this game
even though it wasn't his fault he still died. when the wheel landed on the skull and crossbones it counted as death and took away a life. the lives went from 3 down to 2
I don't consider that as a real death as it doesn't involve any skill from the player, it's just random. And they are not even real lives, like the ones in the minigames, they are just tries to spin the wheel. It's a very bad design anyway, as the game can end just because of bad luck.
