29/04/2024 UPDATE: Hey everyone, UA-cam has glitched out on this video and for some reason restored the merch promo I cut out at the beginning, but without restoring the audio and so the entire video is majorly out of sync. Fun Fact: In the final stages of development, the devs were told to change how gravity works because it "just didn't feel right". This, of course, ruined how every jump in the game functioned which is why it's so easy to drive off ledges or crash into walls after getting serious air.
Really... But maybe this dumb change made the game better?

one of my favorite parts about the game is every once in a while when you kicked a person they'd go flying 100 feet vertically, didnt happen often but it was funny af

Also did anyone else make up their own "stories" while playing this as a kid? Like I remember playing as Marge and I think you could go into Mr.Berns mansion? And I think you could change her clothes? So I would go in there pretending it was her house and that she was rich and fancy. Or playing as Lisa I would drive all around that sunset area pretending she was a movie star?

You know a hilarious bit of trivia about this game? The one mission where you ride with Chief Wiggum is the one, and only, mission in the entire game where the Hit and Run meter is turned off. I love that they actually thought to do that lmfao

Massive respect to Tamago for explaining the whole Hit and Run story, it’s actually fairly complex compared to some modern games.
It’s also quite impressive how this isn’t written by Official Simpsons Writers, like Tamago said it wouldn’t be hard to believe this is written by Official Simpsons Writers.

Level 2 was one of my favorite levels ever...
Then level 3 happened.
At first I didn’t have a memory card so nothing saved but my brother and I tried our best to get as far as possible any time we could. Level 2 was a blast, but Level 3 was absolutely nothing we’d imagine. It’s just so beautiful.

I used to play this game as a kid and I finally found all my game discs. I love the cars in the game, although I always wondered why Homer's car was a convertible. Now that I'm older I can recognise some of the cars in the game; The comic book guy's car is an AMC Gremlin and Snake's car is a 1970 Dodge Coronet convertible. I never knew there was such a following for the game!
The vietnam flashbacks kicked in when you brought up the very last mission. RIP to that controller, 2001-2004

I loved Hit and Run. I'm 20 and I still love it. I remember as a kid, playing this game. It's such a nostalgic game. All the levels, the characters, cars, clothing, gameplay was amazing.
They should bring it to the PS4 and PS5. Maybe update the graphics a tiny bit, not too much as it'll ruin the nostalgia. I miss playing this so much. I think I got it the same year as you back in 2005 when I was 5 years old.

Something about the colour palette and artistic presentation of this game has always appealed to me since a young child. It still does now.
I know right! The graphics may not be technologically advanced, but the overall look is kind of soothing and comfortable, especially the very first level and the sunset Lisa level.

Not even a little bit of an exaggeration, my PS2, was on consistently for over 30 months straight. I did not turn it off, at all. And it ran, perfectly the entire time, and works JUST as well, to this day. True fact. The original xbox and PS2 Are 2 of the best and hardiest consoles ever made.

Did anyone else feel like the smartest kid ever for figuring out that if you kick Carl into the Plant before talking to him, you start inside with the door sealed, thus giving you a shortcut to the end?
I felt like the smartest kid alive when I figured out I could use the monorail as a vehicle lmao
If you reset your car near the Plant, you respawn inside of it.
13:05 Maybe Apu isn’t scared. Maybe he’s gone crazy due to the Cola being drenched in the water supply, and Apu may have been drinking the beverage, and since the plan was to make people go mad by drenching it in the ocean, it has made Apu gone crazy, since he is saying gibberish.

Don't feel too bad I only realised LAST YEAR that when you get 100 percent in every level you can go to the phone booth and press r1 (for ps2) and bring up a new menu that lets you drive any car in any level. For example you can use the toy car in level 1
This was such a treasure of a game. I remember when I was younger playing it and I always had so much fun. Very, very fond memories.
game was so good it made me pop in recordings of simpsons episodes i had after playing it because i genuinely started missing the characters. loved this game
I never watched The Simpsons, but when I was younger, this game had such a profound effect on me and was (and still is) one of my favorite games of all time. And despite not really watching the show, I still knew the characters, got attached to them, and loved all the references that I did happen to know from the show. The soundtrack and gameplay were so enjoyable and I could play this game constantly.

Not wrong side of the tracks that one is easy. Delivering the nuclear waste seemed almost impossible when I was a kid.

This game will always be my favourite game of all time. I'm 20 now but this was the first video game I ever played back on the original Xbox when I was 4 years old and I kept replaying it multiple times right up until I was 13. I'll never forget how happy I was when I collected all the cards and scattered around the maps and unlocked the Itchy and Scratchy short film.

My family had multiple memory cards, the one belonging to me was filled with either a) Need for Speed Underground 2 or b) Simpsons Hit & Run
You are an absolute madlad for finishing this game. Some of the missions are so difficult, they still haunt me to this day.

I completed it about 5 times but it took me ages as a child like when i was 10 i completed it first time and a couple of the missions were so hard i nearly cried with frustration. 10 years later i come back and i still struggle and im like how the fuck did i do this as a kid.

I'm Italian, I played this game 20 times when I was a baby but I always played it in Spanish because for some reason there was no Italian language on he game and as a child I did not understand English (Spanish is the most similar language to Italian). It's funny because I did not understand the plot of this game until now you're explaining it to me

When Hit and Run came out I was sure that it would get a sequel. I'm still wondering why that never happened.
Because it was so successful that there was a bidding war for the rights to the next Simpsons game, and EA had more moola than Fox Interactive.

Man this was a blast from the past. I played this game through so many times when I was a kid yet I never completed the last mission, I always just started a new game.

just head to your old video game trader store. But Hit and Run sells for a pretty penny so I'd suggest hitting up stores until you find a copy from any console and just straight up buying the console its for. It's hard to find
