Seeing this game again puts a huge smile on my face.I can't believe how good my childhood days were until they were gone.

Hahaha I'm 19 now, was around 5 or 4 when I played this, never beat it just got to Sultans Palace... Also played the Lion king (sega) at that age, came to the last level but didn't figure out how to beat Scar haha

the details and animation this game had for its time are insane! when you threw an apple at the enemy but then it got cut in half cus it collided with their knives they threw!! such an amazing game

Made me cry. I was reminded of my first desktop computer bought by my father in 1995 - an Intel pentium II processor with Win95. He could barely afford it, but he got it for me so I could learn computer. I’d often only get to the second level when it was dinner time; my grandma would beckon me to the dining table and I would always abandon the game there. He is no more. My grandma also passed away. When I look back , I understand he was truly my hero for having given me the best often stretching his means. And childhood was such a gift.

I am a proud member of the "beating Aladdin on sega" club. I remember when I was a kid struggling so much on the lava level and Jafar but I managed to beat it. Even as a 31 year old adult I still struggle with those levels haha.

A lot of Sega games looked so good! Games back then had their own distinct character, not just trying to get as close to reality as possible.
So many memories of playing this game with my family. My husband was the only one who ever managed to defeat Jafar.

That's the exact same game?
It is based on Genesis version, but it isn't exactly the same. Movement is different and field of view is very narrow, so it's enormously hard to pass The Escape and the Magic Lamp levels.
I remember when I was a kid Aladdin was my favorite movie. I rented this one time from my local video store and played it all weekend, I remember being sad when I had to return it.
Must be 22+ years since I seen this and it instantly all came back. Getting sonic and moonwalker memories now.

The fact that they added a bass line to their eight bit tunes is pretty sweet. Back then that was a luxury few games could afford.
2019 here, I am still amazed on the animation mechanism. So fluid and well built. Also object collision is soo good.

Crazy man! I remember getting this game as a kid for my Sega Genesis back in the early mid 90's and playing it all the time, as well as coming home from school, and watching the cartoon show of Aladdin on tv every day! The memories this brings back; now I am 33, and crazy how time flys! Good memories; I miss the 90's!
Sounds very familiar! Born 1991, played up to the lava level when I got stuck around 1995/96. This game started my love for gaming and while I don't play this game, I still do a lot of it today

I remember getting to Jaffar once in my childhood and dying to his snake form. I was so proud of myself. I had no idea I was about to beat the game.

Not only that, but in the second level, you can put your head under the mickey mouse ears on the clothes line between the palm trees (and I think it gives you an extra life or something... I forget because it's been so long and he didn't do it).

Genesis Pros: Smoother, movie like animation.
Genesis Cons: Graphics are nice and colourful, but SNES is better (explained later), nice try remaking tunes from the movie, but the font the composers used is crap in my opinion. Brief ending.
SNES Pros: Graphics are slightly less colourful, but remain cartoony and greatly detailed. Better cut scenes. Better, more atmospheric music. Jafar's final battle is much more climactic and the ending is much more complex.
SNES Cons: The animation is stiffer and more game-like.
Capcom borrowed the IP from SEGA and Disney. Disney made the Genesis/Mega Drive version in house.

I’m 30 now, and I remember when I was a kid my dentists office had this waiting room with a Genesis cabinet where you could pick between many different games and a lever would swap them out on the fly. This was always one of my favorite to play there.

Always liked this version better than SNES. You did something right if you made a better 2D platformer movie license game than Capcom. Disney no less.
My dad was a software/hardware guy in the 90s and he ripped a bunch of Sega Genesis games onto a CD for us so we could play them on his computer. This one was my favourite! I'm so glad you posted this

I'd say Batman and Robin is enormously had game to beat.

Brings back a lot o sweet memories. When me and my friend used to play, my whole would watch, guide and shout with joy and excitement when we defeated a villain and passed the stage. Those were the golden days. Now I have everything. But there was some magic then.

I was one of the few privileged who owned both the Genesis and the SNES versions back in the day. Great memories and I still can‘t decide which one is better. 😅
I think Genesis one is better in pace. SNES had better music and overall feel probably because of the slight hardware edge SNES had on Genesis.
Both were pretty great though.

Its strange to watch this and remember all of these parts of the game I never would have thought about again in my life. It is eerie. I dont remember the bonus stage music being like this at all though. It sounds like music that belongs in Ecco.
it was so cool having sega and super nintendo back in the day and seeing how different the games were. these two were both very unique loved them both. beavis and butthead for example was terrible on snes but great on genesis

You know, you can get emulators on your phone, but it's kinda hard to manage.
Agreed, you get a sword, play as apu, more loot, unique enemies and puzzles, better graphics, better rewards and bonus rounds, harder levels, able to buy items in game, def ahead of it's time, at the time lol. Only thing snes version has is parachute ability.
Not really the super Nintendo version Aladdin was great better sound effect and better graphic levels
