      I'm 38 and don't worry, it gets better. Just last week I had someone say hi to me in the local store, I waved back and said hi, didn't stop to talk and kinda hid behind the shelves hoping he won't come and talk.
      I had no idea who that was. I think it might've been one guy, friend of a friend from when I was younger, but I luckily don't even remember his name at all. One slot open for name prison it is.
      (Oh and yes, that is an actually true story.. no joke or sarcasm in this one.)

      Now imagine the same thing, but you also have really terrible eyesight so when someone says "Hey" or waves at you, you are incapable of making out their facial features and have to pretend that you know them until you get within spitting distance and can confirm who the hell they are. And then you forget anyway.

      Holy shit, are you me? I’m in the exact same situation right now, and it sucks because I know that I’m making a mistake, but I can’t bring myself to do something about it… man, social anxiety is a bitch

    • @diegog1853
      @diegog1853 2 роки тому +2

      @@GASPERL1 It is... and the covid era just made everything worse. Believe me... the less social interactions you have, the harder it gets to do them again and so you have even less.
      But it is okay, be brave, take risks, everything will be fine.
      Tell your family and friends you care about them, some don't get to express it with their eyes, smiles and favors, they have to say it. Invite them to do something fun, talk about your feelings.
      Social anxiety is one of those things that looks like the hardest thing ever, but once you do it, it looks like the dumbest thing ever.

      Just a reminder that you're all on the internet right now, a place where it's never been easier to meet people with similar interests and personalities. Even if you're looking for flesh and blood in-person friend people to do flesh and blood things with most cities have meetup groups and such for various activities, it'll never not be awkward but it probably has a much higher success rate than just hoping you'll randomly cross paths with someone friend-compatible again now that you're presumably no longer in an environment where many strangers are constantly being introduced to each other.

    This is how it feels on 99% of social media just trying to put a comment on a friend's profile or discussion section, like you have to fear 10 random people nobody knows or cares for will invade your personal space or your friend because everything online is equally as close to you, right at your fingertips for everyone to pounce. Meanwhile in real life if you meet someone you're likely to never see them again or interact at all, but online you'll see people come and go over the year or 5 years or so on until your brain has no positive memories about the people you feel invaded by and traumatized by seeing people with the same names as other people or profile pics matching profile pics of negative thought related people.
