    Running two different subs is fine, and can be complementary. Out front I have a sealed enclosure Paradigm Monitor SUB-12" that is crisp, punchy, and accurate, with a Paradigm Reference Servo-15" at the back of the room that can put out the deep impactful bass that the little sub is less good at. Together, they fill in each other's gaps that I don't think would be achieved with two of the same sub.

    • @Kpaceguy
      @Kpaceguy  5 років тому +2

      You're right but you're within the same company so it works much easier. But the issue still stands. You may smooth peaks and gaps across the frequency ranges but the evenness of that sound still won't be covered across all of the room because they're simply two different subs. It may not matter in your listening position if you never move from that general area but it matters everywhere else

    Hello!!! excellent explanation .. very easy to understand .. you have confirmed my suspicions .. I have asked several people without answers .. but I imagined .. I have made an upgrade of my home teather .. is this my question? I have this klipsch subwoofer R-110SW
    and I bought this one.
    Subwoofer SVS PB 1000 and is it like you say sometimes the smallest one crouches in deeper sound and before it did not happen?
    you keep me leaving only one? until completing the other .. or can both be calibrated?

      Both can be calibrated. Your receiver has independent Subwoofer control so both can be calibrated at the same time BUT you can't correct the sound difference between the two completely. You can blend them together but your svs will out perform the klipsch in some areas and vice versa

    I disagree. You can mix different subs and get a great response. It takes alot of work and fine tuning. It took me 5 hours to tune my 8 subs to the flattest response. You fail to realize that the surface area of the sub along with a double in power will grant you at least a +3db bump per driver. My 2 PB3000s have a built in DSP, mini DSP for my two SVS 25-31CS+, mini DSP for my four 10 inch drivers. It is all about room response and if your subs are all the same distance from the listening area you will have far less problems. If anything I wouldn't mix sealed with ported.

    If you can localise your subwoofer, normally this can be corrected with phase control, I’m glad you mentioned the ported vs sealed, I have 2 identical subwoofers, and am currently in the process of trying to achieve the best of both worlds, 1ported 1sealed, it’s very tedious) playing listening playing listening so on, we all know you get slam with a sealed subwoofer, it naturally tightens the bass up, but you get foundations shaking lows with a ported box. So I decided to shoot some videos over next week on my findings. Can I achieve a nice even in room response from both subwoofers 1 being ported and 1 being sealed? We shall see😂😂😂

      @Test-Pilot1194 5 років тому +1

      I know when you calibrate a system, it is essentially, what can the speakers do, vs what can the subs do, then it’s a matter of blending with phase, or...audyssey..and so on. But what can we do to excite the mid frequencies a little bit more? It probably doesn’t make sense what I’m trying to get at, 😂😂😂. No idea of the results, but deffo be interesting. If it sounds terrible just load my last calibration setting from the thumb drive.

    Same driver size: agree, same brand: definitely helps, but can mix if quality is still same overall, power: eh, just stay in the same magnitude at least, looks: depends if the room or positioning is symmetrical, different tonalities/frequency response/sealed or ported: no, different sounds of a sub can help make up for what the other lacks, resulting in a fuller bass.

    ... like his view on this subject, but he's not right, - a lot of his opinions are based on not having the equipment to make it work well ... i truly love my current system and both subwoofers sound amazing vs only using 1, i found 2 different setup ways to make them boom/ work also ... what I'm using " Rockford Fosgate p2 10'''dvc 4ohm" sealed shallow in truck small box 200wat / 12ich Kenwood 'svc 4ohm' 250wat 'sealed1 SQF box", (I know = had issues did not plan to end up with supper mismatched wattage but i can control gain/vol on my 6way crossover)
    working way's, 1) use the subwoofer and midbass/bandpass channels on your cross-over, " (12ich sub at 22-80hz / 10ich 80-120hz- ish ) + you must /or you can (2) set\wire a 180 phase (Loudest mofo ever!!) , i run them on a 2ch 1000wat - the OHM mismatch is ruffly 25% so the gain is set accordingly on the Crossover - .... (also works great with a graphic equalizer, with sub vol and 60hz vol ... " the mid-woofers are crossed at 100hz-ish (6woofers, 6tweeters, 2 subs = 3 amps with 10 channels) ) i do have a lot more going on), but this seems to push 2 different size subs crazy, or i got lucky and the 2 compliments each other, the Rockford is much more of a mid-bass speaker that does not hit the low KHZ's but the Kenwood sucks at mid-bass ... .. but its ok to mix subwoofers if you have the simple equipment to run them (crossover - or DSP or RCA -inline vol nob)
    how i got to those 2 speakers was the 12ich was the upgrade and the infinite kappa was DOA, and i got the Kenwood to fill my new box temporarily but then I played around, and I'm happy for a change ...

    • @Kpaceguy
      @Kpaceguy  5 років тому

      It'll work. It may be hard to get the mid bass right because I imagine in between 60 to 100hz and 20 to 40 hz the 12in will be louder but it can definitely work. I did it in my old old old theater

      I did this too. Each sub had its own enclosure and own amplifier powering them so there wasnt that problem with the frequencies getting all fucked up. It sounds decent. But I believe if I was to put them both into the same box it would throw everything out of wack because different size woofers have different parameters to take into consideration and usually require different size boxes

      Bummed out. My neighbor kinda took my drive out of me. Cops showed up the other night around 9:45 pm the other night. I was testing out my SVS Sound Path Isolation system feet to help eliminate my dual Definitive Pro Sub 1000 from jumping across the floor. It got ugly, he said bass was loud through out his house. Didn't sound loud outside my house. I was thinking of SVS subs down the road but now not so sure. Lol.

      @Kpaceguy  5 років тому +2

      Man that SUCKS! I'd still get them for overall bass response and sound quality. You might not be able to crank them when you want to but they'll sound better. When I lived with my parents I used to BLAST the 4000s and when I went outside I could hear them but not enough to bother anyone inside their own house. It had to be quiet as a mouse in his house to hear your subs

      @Test-Pilot1194 5 років тому +1

      SuperTA329 so the sound path isolation feet didn’t work uh? 😂😂. If you have to! Only ever have too, try instal spikes to the subwoofer, I have had experience with my old subwoofers which went abit like your situation, but after installing spikes to the subwoofer, it turns out, I did myself a bigger favour than I did for the neighbour, they sounded tons better.

    • @Test-Pilot1194
      @Test-Pilot1194 5 років тому +2

      SuperTA329 also, try get spikes that are maybe 2 to 3 inches tall, if you have hard floors especially, this should raise them enough beyond the point at which the subwoofers cabinet resonance still plays on the floor. On top of that, tell the guy to piss off and invest in some acoustic treatment of his own, I firmly believe it’s a joint responsibility to keep each other’s noise from one another 👍🏻👍🏻☺️
