IDL Traits
Agility: Lateral explosiveness to change lanes and footspeed to assist in block sheds
Getoff: Physical and technical ability to come off the ball and get on top of blockers in a hurry
Power Rush: Physical and technical ability to win with power including but not limited to Bull, Push & Pull, and Rip Rush Moves
Finesse Rush: Physical and technical ability to win with finesse including but not limited to Swim, Spin, and Side to Side Counters
Block Shedding: Ability to combine strong hands with quick feet to come off of blocks in a timely manner
Run Diagnostics: The total combination of the player's ability to see the run, know where the runner is attempting to go, and to react when run stop opportunities present themselves all while maintaining the correct gap discipline as to not allow cut backs or bounce runs
Anchor: Player's ability to hold his ground vertically against the run; players with the ability to hold their ground against double teams will receive higher grades
IDL Scheme Fits
3-Tech: Defensive Tackle who lacks the size and anchor to hold up as a Nose Tackle and consistently take on double teams.
Nose Tackle: Defensive Tackle with size who can lign up over the center or as an outside shade, handle double teams without losing ground, and command two gaps up front. This may or may not be a run-down only player depending on the level of pass rusher he is and the scheme he ends up in.
3-4 End: A specific brand of Interior player who lacks the size and/or tools to project as a 3-down starter, a 3-Tech or a Nose Tackle but has a specific use as a base end for 3-4 style teams and may or may not be able to rotate in as an interior rusher on pass rushing downs.
2-Down*: Excels in run defense and may have a role as a rotational player on early downs but doesn't necessarily have the size to project as a Nose Tackle. This player is likely to struggle generating pass rush at the next level due to any lack of any combining factors and will likely not become a 3-down starter in the NFL.
DPR*: Typically an explosive player who lacks discipline or play strength vs the run. Best used on passing downs only to help create pressure.
Hybrid DE*: Tweener type of D-lineman best utilized as a Defensive End in a traditional 3-4 scheme. Smaller and quicker than traditional IDL to the point that the player may be best used as an early down EDGE player in 4-3 schemes. May have any combination of length, ability to defend the run, and pass rushing skills but their size profile makes them a complicated projection in terms of usage and position. - Спорт

P.S: On Braden Fiske, I would also have him outside of the top 50 UNLESS, a team with a good defensive coaching staff gets him. I'm thinking a team like Baltimore, Houston, San Fran, etc.

For Miami I would love Murphy or Newton in round one but if they are off the board or we go O-line then Hall Jr. in round two would be a very nice fallback. The team needs dudes who are difference makers in both trenches badly.

This DT class feels a little underrated by the media. Could make an argument it’s the second best defensive position group and has a real chance to produce 3-4 high end starters. Great video.
I think it's more that beyond the top 2, the rest aren't well rounded. They're more situational players right now, so there's more projection. But traits wise, there's a lot of athleticism.
@@DCJayhawk57 I agree, but its the same with nearly every other position on the defensive side. CB is probably the only position group that is definitively better - especially when half the tier 2 edge guys are IDL tweeners. Its not apples to apples, but we were saying similar things about the wr class last year.
I watched this to see where you had Ruke Orhorhoro because I want the Bears to take him to be the backup 3t who can eat reps. You saying that that is his floor makes me happy.
I knew the complaints about Michigan’s defensive rotation would come up with Jenkins 😂. It was a constant source of frustration for fans as well. The bright side is you could get an early scout on Mason Graham and Kenneth Grant.
Also, agree with you on Hall. I was very happy to see him go pro.
Graham and grant are better players that’s why they cut into his snaps so heavily. Although is he still really impressive. They’re just first round prospects imo especially mason

Charlie Campbell has had those reported for a while, at least since the senior bowl, wondering if that might have him struggle to fit into a locker room, and, low roll, give him a kinda Perrion Winfrey type projection.

I love this never could. I have expected Marcus to compare a prospect to the Pokémon Magikarp and the guys only maneuver as compared to splash. Splash does nothing until you run out of power and then the Pokémon actually does damage through struggle.

Still have Sweat in my top50. Sure, character concerns are serious, but not unfixeable. We seen what he can do when he is locked in and do what really wasn't done by nfl prospect since Vita Vea, TVondre is truly special player, if i am Tenessee/Chargers in early second i seriously consider him. Imagine duo of Sweat and Jeff Simmons - true nightmare fuel for any IOL in the league
We aren't talking Wr but since you brought up pokemon. The Washington Receivers, McMillan is the base form. Evolves into polk and Odunze being the final form.

Think this DT class is really fun and underrated. Hoping my Houston Texans can come out with 1 or 2 of these guys. Hall is the big hope because I'm assuming Newton and Murphy will be taken by then.

What's crazy is Kris Jenkins was DT3 by the end of the season on Michigan. Just shows how good Mason Graham and Kenneth Grant were as true Sophomores. Those two will be first round picks next year and the first two DTs off the board. I could easily see Graham being a top 10 pick and what's crazy is Kenneth Grant, with his insane physical tools, may have more upside.
You're spot on about Fiske... He's a potentially high end rotation player. He offers nothing for run defense regularly and doesn't command double teams. He should absolutely be drafted by a 3-4 team. On Sweat... Read more into the story. He was rear ended. The accident wasn't his fault. He for sure has some maturity questions. But he forces double teams and consistently beats the double team.
