Dan Presland, Alex Baillie, Martino Garattoni - To Remain Dormant - Progressive Metal

- This band is a collective effort from Alex Baillie, Dan Presland & Martino Garattoni. Known for their work in the likes of Ne Obliviscaris, Vipassi, Cognizance & Ancient Bards (to name a few). This outfit presents an instrumental yet visceral take on Progressive Death Metal. The project started almost 2 years ago when I (Dan) put a facebook status up (how sick is social media for this aspect?) of any sick guitarists who wanted to collaborate on some tunes. Alex hit me up and the rest is history. I actually tracked drums for this over a year ago on the back of a session job I did as I finished early. Tino then slapped some bass and Alex laid his riffage down to finish it off. Alex wrote practically the whole chunk of this track, and we all chimed in with our own flavors to create what you hear. We are real stoked on this little creative effort, and who knows what could happen in the future! If you enjoy, please share!
Mixed and Mastered by John Douglass at Vorticist Studios, Atlanta.
Drums recorded at Dan's studio.
Drums engineered by Troy Mccosker.

Good Lord that fucking double bass is insane
Would love for you to release a full album, this sounds so amazing.
Anything with Dan is just incredible !!!!
man, we need more of this, so fucking sick
This is gold. I enjoy this much more than vipassi. Not to diss on that, cause that was amazing as well. But this is incredible. ❤️
Fuuuuuuuck! Every instrument is incredible. Amazing shit, guys!
I like this because most instrumental three pieces are aimless post rock so it's nice to hear some aimless prog metal for a change
Those blasts dear lord
0:55 - 1:08 getting a Faceless vibe here...
1:21 - 1:33 this section is SO Cognizance
And the rest sounds like bonus Vipassi goodness! Sick stuff from everyone!
the blast riff that changes tempo is wicked !!
The bass is MASSIVE!
Absolutely amazing! DAMN!
Dan and our minds in blender!! Well done guys!!
Sounds sick guys! That was a gorgeous bass too, great tones, and I thought it was pretty funny that both the bass and guitar had six strings. Hopefully you guys continue with this project. Very clean, and yet still aggressive perfect for the genre.
Also, kick ass Mr. Pickles shirt!
This is incredible!
My brain hurts! Awesome song :D
Someone give this man a winning lottery ticket so he can make some more YT vids BAHA, love you!
What a tune!
Sick!!!! \m/
Would love to hear more. If you guys had an album worth of material I would buy immediately.
Awesome 🤘
MR PICKLES!
Just watched this. Amazing musicianship in every instrument, but I don’t remember a single melody from the whole song.
Mr piiiiickles !

In my humble opinion it's extremely good as a show off, but I'm not sure it's melodic enough for everyday listen. Will be listening couple times more to make sure. Great work guys anyway, your skills are incredible!
i agree, its good, but i prefer neo. this is too proggy for me.
Really digging this guys! Bas is massive... but not the siff bass that Prog Metal seems to have moved towards
I will never not listen to metal you drum for, Dan
Deathcaddy RIGHT
:O
Did I just see you use Axis longboards?
Back to the ol' axis pedals?
no, this was 18 months ago
welp, never skip leg day, kids......
Lol
I dont no man...
The play is great from each part, but the composition dudes, 😩😩😩😩 it's make me feel sleepy, it's good to be good player but what's we got from that composure, in end nothing. That's still remain a personal opinion.
Bass and guitar has same number of strings this song does not count as progressive death metal, then.
Barış Can Çakır wat
@@CognizanceBand they both have 6 strings. You can't play progressive death metal with a 6string guitar that's a rule
Barış Can Çakır I haven’t seen the memo going round but it must be the law now you mention it
pretentiousness at its best.. and btw where is the bass in the mix
put some videos of you up playing guitar so we can see
@@DanPresland dude what I do is irrelevant ahahahahahahahahahahahahaha here is about what you do and this sucks
