I am so a living example of this. The biggest dips in my graph are when I am not doing well
Spiritually or whatever and bored and trying to punt off for excitement
Ryan, I don't want to say it but the trouble with the way you play is that Joey is a fucking mush.
Spiritually?? You haven't a spiritual bone In Your body.
@@pt2hays For real, homie. We ain't got a mental bone or psychological bone in our bodies either.
I love the way poker is interconnected with every day life. All said could be appleid to everything we do. Well said Bencb!!!
It can teach us many things!
@@RaiseYourEdge So true! But you have to be very open for that, it´s like reading between the lines. It´s there, but not everyone can see it
The way we do one thing is how we do everything. Great quote

I am always saying this. It has so many aspects of life. Poker is like life itself.
Best side content i've got so far from Ben. I love this kind of the basis which tend to influence the whole things in life and please share your process of being refreshed while you were alone in the nature Ben :)
That's great to hear! Have you checked out Ben's Iceland vlogs? Here is the link: ua-cam.com/video/nQtrhjfJaMA/v-deo.html
Ben, I just wanna say thank you for this video it really opened my eyes to realizing that I fall for dopamine cravings way more than I admit to sadly. Please keep up the good content!
This video is a confirmation of everything I have been studying and with your words, it became even clearer.
Ben, you and your work are extremely valuable to the new generation of poker players (including me) and to humanity! You and your effort to become a better person every day are a huge inspiration for me and my family.
Stay safe and have a nice day
Winning poker ist boring. It's that boring daily grind that matters. I don't feel dopamine at all, since i play stakes i can absolutely afford. Just yesterday a friend of mine i have been coaching on cashgame asked me about tournaments, about HU, spins etc. And he hasn't even mastered cash games. But people want to feel that adrenaline rush.
Thanks Ben, I probably needed to hear this more than anything else.
I won't go into too much detail, but I've recently started to improve my lifestyle anyway, but this has given me the push I need and highlighted some necessary areas of improvement I never would've considered.
From the bottom of my heart, thanks so much for all of your content!
Let's crush!
Ever since I got over a major illness I have been doing all the non-poker things you mention in this video. After I really felt like I had come a long way in the non-poker regard I decided it was time to try playing poker again. This video is quite encouraging. Thanks man.
This is spot on!
The truth hurts our egos very often, and blind us so we're ain't able to focus on what we need to.
Gonna use myself as a example.
Been playing over 15 years been winning but mostly losing over the years.
Here's the really bad part. I've never been in doubt of my poker skill set while playing. What was making me a losing player was terrible bankroll management and not being able to play lower limits, because I couldn't focus down there and normally just punted off because it was boring and wasn't focused.
I've known this for years, and still wasn't able to change it because it was boring.
To say it honestly I was to weak to change it!
2 years ago I've finally pulled myself together and began to use bankroll management and not playing to high.
I've cut down my session time and only playing while I was well rested and on top mentally. And started to study 30 min- 2 hours a day.
These few changes have transformed my results in a degree you won't even believe 😊
I normally don't make comments on UA-cam content, but the video is so true and so relevant for me as a person and poker player.
I've experienced all of it on my on body and mind!
Thank you for this video.
Have a nice Sunday
where do you study?
@@deadlyvenom9069 BBZ and of course on my own.
@@allansrensen6888 how much have you payed for it? is it worth it?
It's really a hard question to answer. For me yes.
It's really about how you like to study and learn.
Personally I love the Webinar sessions where different things being discussed every time.Spots, 3 bet strategies, icm, you name it. Can also be about tools.
It's all about finding the right place to study and finding something that suits your level.
I also heard only good things about RYE from many many people 😊
Allan Sørensen
Great comment. My best mate also struggles with this exact problem. Cannot get excited about the $1.10 MTT’s so plays under rolled (I was the same when I started)
If you have no bankroll management you will lose and keep losing. Variance is a thing lol
it's so good to hear your boss, thanks for everything you post here!!
My routine at the moment is everyday: 1 hour of mental game studying, 1 hour of technical studying and 4 hours of playing. So really making the difference between the mental game and the technical aspect, it gives me some nice variation. Between the two hours studying i will go for a run for example :)
Thanks for all the good content Ben, really helpfull! :)
Such an awesome reflection!! Your sincerity should help most of the players out there. From where i'm standing your words are pure gold and 100% true. 'Fixing yourself' is the only way to put it.
Much respect!!
Thank you, these words are exactly what i needed. I suspected that these many little mental/health obstacles are holding me back from starting to succeed, but not many people on the web are actually talking about it so i decided that maybe these things aren't that important. turned out they are more important than just pure studying! Subscribed!
This is the most important poker-related video I've ever seen. Thanks so much.
Nice video as always. The thing i knew and i loved from poker, is that it exposes the weakness you have, not only the strategy related, but also your overall mindset. But of course you need to have the privilege of getting your ego out of the way to see that.
Spot on video. Found a lot of useful information since I signed up for this channel. Will make sure to recommend it to fellow poker players. Thank you and hope you keep it up. Be healthy!
Such a great video! This video is helping me refocus on the things I know matter so much that I've been neglecting lately. Definitely helping me be more accountable. Thank you!
Thank you so much for this advice Benjamin. I'm relatively new to poker and this advice and video is so unique and contains the best information I've seen yet, of course like many others before me I thought if I just learn strategy I can become a winning poker player but this advice has opened my eyes that its so much more then strategy needed, so thank you and many blessings and good fortune to you Sir I will continue to follow your channel and support you when I can.
Hands down one of the best videos I've seen that touches on everything outside of Poker.
This really rose my awareness of what I need to fix, thanks for that.
Love the straightforward, no BS advice! Keep up the great work and videos!
Hi Ben, thank you for this great content! Incorporating routines is often the best way to stay focused on your goals and keep working hard in order to reach them
Love your honesty about taking your course in relation to the effort/time it takes to master it.I struggle with that topic, having a wife, a lovely daughter and a business.
For now the only dopamine urge have is rolling a spliff every 2 to 3 hours while playing. I know a bad habbit but it works for me. Keeps me focused, fit(when smoking no food), and nice and mellow during downswings and a down to earth on a upswing.
Thank you for the no bs content 👏🏾✌🏾
Im playing poker since i was kid and i failed always and i was ,,crying,, because i thought im unlucky at this game because i knew i had good strategy but , like he said i had poor routines , poor mindset and unhealthy lifestyle which leads to failing in poker .
When i watched this video i felt like he is watching me through my life everything is true and this really helps me and i want to improve in my life and also in poker . I was never thinking like this and i just forgot about myself . This video is really important for me because like i feel that i can be professional poker player but i forgot that i also need to live like professional and not like average person . Thank you Bencb and lets do it .
Danke dir vielmals für dieses Video! Wirklich! Und auch deine anderen Videos! Alles gute! ❤
Thanks Ben this has been incredibly inspiring. I was in a very good healthy routine and unfortunately fell out of it because of the Covid situation which meant having to adjust to working from home etc. throwing me out of my normal routine. I have noticed my poker results/performance has suffered since which is obviously no coincidence. I am going to make some positive changes now to move back to being healthier working out and eating better - not just for poker but for being happy and healthy in general. Just re-bought headspace and am looking forward to mediating on a daily basis again.
Hey Ben! No wonder you are where you are in poker today. This is really priceless information for FREE. Amazing content as usual. Thank you!
(Excuse me for my bad english)
Ben, thank you very much. Seriously it was one of the best poker vidéo i see in my life. You have talking about things that never others profesional poker player talks. Keep doing what you do. Thank you !
21:40 you mention mental benefits. I couldn't agree more; after having played poker for about 1.5 years now. I don't really tilt as I used to, and not just in poker, but in everyday things. Very good words!
Thank you for all! I'm keep learning with all your videos.
See you on the top!
Thank you Ben, really good content as always, im implamenting work outs and meditations for few weeks now im my game of life. :)
Ah! Finally, someone saying it like it is. Love this video Bencb. Absolutely, this applies to almost everything you do in your life to be a success. 1. PASSION. This drives everything, the motivation, the desire. 2. The right PLAN. This gets you to where you want to be. This video touches upon this plan which includes not only researching the best resources but self-inspection as well. 3. PRACTICE. Successful quality practice must occur to gain the confidence needed to be a success. 4. PATIENCE. Never give up. Ebbs and flows are normal process of learning and improving. Success comes sooner or later, but mostly later. And finally. 5. PROFESSIONAL. Accept that success is not to be the best, but to reach a level of professionalism. My five P's to success.
Dopamine cravings, the disease of the quarentine 50-100m2 home! Thank you very much Ben to bring to us this "hidden issue". You are the best! :)
Thank you Ben! You’re the man! Always helps.
Really enjoy your videos mate your always spot on and the way you describe things is excellent, absolutely no ego at all such a humble guy. Thanks again for more inspiration and advice.
Well done sir I made it all the way thru , u did a remarkable job , powerful clarifying statements , love the transparency keep doin u 👍
Nailed it here. I definitely want to hear more about your fasting approach!
thank you very much for this video, it gives a lot of motivation to improve not only a poker , but whole daily routine.
Man ... recognizing that I put my focus on the wrong things to succeed in poker really hurts ... you opened my eyes with this. It really is frustrating for now to be that average person, but I can see myself in almost everything you mentioned. Putting too much emphasis on strategy instead of all the other areas in life. Controlling my dopamin cravings and everything ... this hurts for now, but I promise to myself now, to become an extraordinary person. Thank you for that Ben. One day, I might be able to afford your courses and I will do exactly that. Poker is my dream, my future. But I am working hard on the wrong places. Got that now. Great video ! And the first video I was able to listen to for 30 minutes without losing focus and give in to dopamin cravings, thats huge. Usually my attention drops around 5 to 10 minutes. Great Work Ben ! Thank you for that ! I will come back to this video in 6 months when I changed my routines and became a better person and give all the props to you sir.
Özcan Atmaca amen!
Good luck Özcan, it is indeed not easy but we are glad the video helped you and we hope you manage to make that change!
@Raise Your Edge... I was watching more poker related videos on your channel, one of my friend suggested to watch also some mental strength related videos... I am impressed the way these videos are created and definitely it helps a lot.. I liked the specially the statement "I dont want you to buy my courses", This shows how dedicatedly you are creating these videos ad really want to help the poker community...Thanks a lot for these videos
Thanks man!
Excellent video Ben, I love how you constantly emphasize how important it is to eat healthy high quality foods and working out on a regular basis. I would add, everyone should just turn off your notifications on all of your social media apps during your grind and put them all on your last screen if you’re having a problem constantly checking on them. Gl everyone #letscrush
Great Video Ben, your video's help me a lot, Thanks for making them!
True that bro! You said it the perfect way, respect and apreciation!
Great content! Helped me very much to define some of my leaks. Thank you!
This is a brilliant tip. I notice when I play 2 tables, with headset on , with no distraction, I manage to win and get +EV
Love the cool subtle when you talk, what do you use to make them.... You are 100 %right if I am on social media while I'm playing I normally don't do as well as just focusing on just Poker but it is so hard no to want to just check a notification even if I'm 12 tabling
Ben, a deep Dankeschön for this honest content !
would love to see a video about fasting ;)
Thank you! Very good and motivating video. And at the right time, when the results are summed up and plans are being made for the year ahead. Everything in your video was necessary and appropriate! Have a great year and all the best in life!
👍💪
Great video as always, thanks. I would recommend the book "Deep Work: Rules for Focused Success in a Distracted World" to people that are interested in "the ability to master distraction"and the "practice of distraction-free productivity at work". Good luck at the tables.
Very very awesome video dude! Thanks!
Great advice. Thank you for doing this
Bro your my new favourite person thanks for the message because it's really hitting home.
Love your sincere, relaxed approach.
This is some gold advices
Keep up the good work !
Man thanks a lot for sharing all this knowledge for free! Has helped me a lot!
Thank you for these motivational videos they are really helpful
Extremely well said! Nice job and thank you very much! Get your shit together is the message of the day!
This videos are masterpiece Ben, i think all outside the poker is more important than the technical of poker.
This video was spot on and the things discussed can be very useful in day to day life aswel some of the comments are great too and I will be trying to slowly change my ways
My dopamine cravings are out of control. Hard hitting advice. Getting this under control is going to take quite a bit of effort, but it has to be done as I'm getting nowhere with my present routine. Great advice Ben!
You got this!
Hey Ben, really enjoyed this type of video. Now more than ever dopamine management is crucial. It's very easy to fall into the trap of forgetting good routines you've worked so hard to maintain when you see others around you giving 8-10hrs of their day to Netflix, waking up at midday or later etc. I realise you focus your energy on other areas but I found this video very motivating and would be a loyal listener if you made a weekly/bi-weekly podcast on this type of content. I've moved away from poker, more of a casual player now but still consume RYE content because these principles are widely applicable for achieving success in all walks of life. Thanks for the vid!
You are welcome Leigh, nice that they also help you elsewhere in life!
Thanks for the advice Ben! My work ethic does need improvement.
Really like your insights, especially the dopamine topic...
Very genuine video. Thanks for the content.
Please make a video about fasting and include more about the dopamine fasting you do, ie the Iceland retreat. That was very interesting stuff. Thanks as always for the great content! Love the channel!
Great video ben the insights I totally agree thanks!! Greetings
Hey dude, came across your channel and must say I really enjoy your talks and life strategies. Totally agree with your points and try my best to put them in place. Also have seen you play and have great respect for your game.
That's lovely to hear, thank you!
Workout, healthy diet, vitamins, clear brain, goals, and never give a sh*t what other says
Great life advice. Especially the last bit
None of those have anything to do with poker
Rick James
Donk alert.. 😁
@@michaelsimpson3574 Fortunately I learned through experience that the last bit is the most wrong bit. Workout, healthy died, vitamins, clear brain, goals are all excellent advice, but the last bit is very bad advice. We humans are social animals and we feel better when we are accepted by our social circles. If one dont give a fk about people around him, he will become miserable over time.
You don't have to believe me.
@@jkepic25 I don't think that's how he means it. you are going to have people tell you bad things, one of the facts of life. It would be a huge waste of time to try and become "accepted" by them.
wow Ben thanks a lot from all the time you take to teach and give some great tips for all of us, this is a great videooo and it help me a lot . You re the Best Cheeers
Great vid!
You’re good. I mean really, very good.
Law of attraction, mindset and consistency are inherently interlinked.
This is a super intelligent video giving seriously good advice.
Really enjoy these videos, always give me more insight! At the minute I think I have an ego issue with poker always thinking I'm better than other players at the table when they win against and causes me to tilt..Currently mediating 10mins per day now with exercise 4 times per week! Noticing that the mindfulness is making me improve and I'm currently trying out NoFap to control my dopamine cravings, goal is to do 1 month to see if the benefits are really there. 100% agree that strategy is worth absolutely nothing if mindset isn't in the right place and that's something I'm striving to improve big time! Any other mindset tips send them my way folks!
I appreciate straight talk. Thank you!
Great content! I'm actually in the middle of a dopamine detox where I meditate daily, only go to social media once a day, workout without music or any audio, turn off all devices 1 hour before bed time and fall asleep without music /podcast. I do this once in a while for periods ranging from 7-10 days with great results.
tHANK YOU MAN. I was under pressure, and take 10 days to breaf. Your video help me, to clear my mind. Thak´s.
I would appreciate if you would do a video about "dopamine craving". However, i really enjoyed that video, thanks!
Dude just found your channel. Really enjoy your content
Amazing video and cool T-Shirt Ben :)
Good vid and I agree with all your points! This is a good video on why people can't succeed at anything; not specific to poker.
Thanks for helping me both in poker and in life - so much value in your content, thanks for not charging £
who else is playing his Sunday session while listening to this video and getting distracted? 😂
Makes folding bearable...
@@c.n.7130 hahaha 😅
Bencb, thanks a lot for this video! We all know how to get the better version of ourselves, but sometimes procrastination gets the better of us. Thank you so much for remind me I am responsible for the place I am in right now. I am a professional poker player and this video fit me like a glove. The main mistakes my coach is pointing me are distractions: some simple things like opening a certain hand in certain spot which the review show us I have folded. Why? Distraction. Also, I understand being physically fit can help us a LOT in mind focus. From yesterday, I came back to exercise my body.
I have learned a lot with you (from this and other videos), and so, let me, with all my humility, teach you something: I know you said this brings a lot of discussion (so true...) but please allow me to say it: Veganism is not a diet. Vegetarianism is. Being vegan is about being anti-speciesism. A vegan follows, therefore, a vegetarian diet. A vegan has to be vegetarian; a vegetarian doesn't have to be a vegan. There's a lot of confusion with these topics. We go to a place, we ask for vegetarian food, the waiter suggests something with eggs. We explain eggs don't grow on tress, and they answer "oh, then you mean vegan food". lol. No, I don't. Vegetarian, like the word says, is about vegetables. What the waiter is referring to is "Lacto vegetarianism".
Once again, thanks a lot for your help. All the best to you!
really really good video Ben as usual, thanks for sharing your knowledge
Glad you enjoyed it!
Never seen such honest and transparant pokercoach👍
Thank you for good motivation.
Thanks, you really help me....In the beginning of my carreer i have alot of this in me, but now when my game is on high level im distracted alot.
Would be really interesting to hear more about fasting ! Love your work. Inspiration!
You are a hero Ben! Thx once gain for sharing your thoughts. namaste :)
Fantastic Video. I was agreeing with so much you said and so many of these things are not considered. So many people never address the real issues why they are not succeeding. I realised recently that I don't want to become a professional because I don't enjoy the process enough to put in the time and energy required to get to the level I wanted to achieve. I think so few people come to this realisation because of the variance involved and blaming bad luck as an easy out whilst keeping their ego intact.
Truly inspiring ben! Thanks so much for the advice
You're welcome!
Awesome video Ben, really glad you have brought these important topics to peoples awareness.
3 KEY TAKEAWAYS:
#1: Reduce your dopamine cravings:
-This will allow you to study effectively, get into a flow state whilst grinding and to be able to learn poker at a deep level.
TIP: Master distractions in your environment.
#2: The REAL reason most players fail:
-Wrong mindset
-Poor work ethic
-Not working smart
-Too big of an ego
-Not enjoying the process
-Only doing it for the money
TIP: You need to enjoy the process of learning poker or you will not succeed at poker over the long term.
#3: Lifestyle routines that make a big difference:
-reduce and detox dopamine cravings
-improving your work ethic
-studying efficiently
-meditating
-working out regularly
-following a healthy diet
TIP: These changes are an investment in yourself and will give you so much more mental clarity and happiness.
I cover a lot of these topics on my channel if anyone is interested in exploring them further.
Thanks again for this video Ben.
Very nice video. Thx ! I would like to see you speaking about fasting and learn while fasting thx
I dont take Poker serious anymore, just playing for fun time to time but man... those life advices keep me watching your videos
You Are so right man thankyou for this. Im really struggling with this problem now. Made me really think about things thanks ben!
That's nice! Make sure to also take action on it and make that change, you've got this!
Very wise advice and very much appreciated thank you
Thank you, great guidelines for many areas of life. I am not a poker player, another group of high-performance people brought this to my attention.
Glad it was helpful! Awesome to hear that
Spot on, you're creeping in as my new favorite player. You just hit all of the marks
Watching this video, while playing poker is such an irony.
me too :)
Same here ahahaha
Lol I'm procrastinating playing to watch it...not sure what is worse.
lool
Working out regularly is great for the brain🧠! It helps the neurons get a better coating of myelitis witch is a good thing 💪. I work out 5 days/week 45 min to 1 hour each time. From a poker perspective, in a work out day I work out 1 hour out of 24 (23:1 or 4,17%) to get so much benefit it is for sure EV+! TY for another great video!
Very important video! I longer have the feeling that anything isn’t fine if I have a normal day and start playing poker in the evening. This can be the answer! I will start meditation again! thank you for this video
Thanks for your wisdom!
Great content CB, not touching your phone in the morning is something i'm gonna try.
Would be cool to hear more about the fasting and meditation.
Also if I go on your exercise and diet plan will it allow me to find a gun and a helmet in Rozhok?
