Thanks

Bs quiz :) I am always good at cashgames until i fuck it up lol, not objective however something else that is more important, I don't agree with you to value bet and wanting your opponent to call always... It's always better to take down a smaller pot rather than to risk still losing the hand/pot. Your opponent can easily upgrade his hand, if not they wouldn't have called in the 1st place, you gotta make em pay to see the turn or river, I like that approach much more. It's same with question if you bet when you got a lower pair on the flop, considering it's not HU. I always bet, cuz if you don't you can lose the hand later on by opponents that make a hand.
Neel,
I agree no river, no fish. Get em out and take it down when your out of position. If your in position and the draws are not on the board and the preflop action dictates his range is limited as compared to the board, and your stack (and your emotional esteem) then string him a long. Assuming he is a straightforward player and he didn’t check his aces pre-flop or something. It’s safe to say, you don’t know the table for the first hour, you won’t know most of the individual players until the 7-10th hand played.
So last month I asked 3 of my friends who are semi-pro poker players who they would recommend as a good coach as I look to step up my cash game stakes from $2/5 to $5/10, and they unanimously said "Jonathan Little". So, here I am. Excellent content so far. I look forward to some deeper lessons once I sign up for your masterclass!
Do you look forward to getting all of this information for free all the time?
His advice is trash, he's applying theories that don't exist in these stakes... chasing 10 high flush to not get paid when it hits is crazy
The first, and most important, thing I learned by taking in these lessons is how bad I was (still am). I have quickly gotten noticeably better just by admitting I needed to learn and diving into these videos. I bought the course and it's easily the best bet I made all last year :)
Hey Jonathan. The quick note you made about bet sizing in the value betting section has been very helpful. I noticed that I was betting too large for value on every street. The words that stuck out were that I was forcing my opponents to play well. I'm very confident that's what was happening. My bets were only allowing hands that had good equity to continue, and I was folding out all hands that I was well ahead of. I've adjusted my sizing, and it's been helping a lot. Not only am I getting to showdown against worse hands more often, but I haven't committed as many chips by the river when the flush comes in and they put in a big raise. Anyways, thanks!
Nice! I'm glad it's been helpful.
Been watching consistently for about a year now and your videos have helped my game tremendously. Finished 4th Out of 1,080 field this weekend at a live $360 event and couldn’t have done it without your help. Appreciate all the hard work and good will you bring to the game.
This webinar helped a lot for the lower stakes, it is easy to start caling down to much, since you think ppl are capable of bluffing, but the reality is often different
Awesome!
The most common mistake I make at cash games when I'm playing bad is bluff-catching too much. They just aren't bluffing nearly enough to warrant it. You couldn't be more right.
Thank you for the instructional video, I feel my game improving whenever I read or watch your lessons, very instructional!
I Love jonathans dedication and his mindset towards teaching. Best Poker content out there!
2 years ago ppl did 3bet jacks there as a default!? I dont think so , i think linus and redbaron would 3 bet jacks as a default there 4 years ago! So i dont know what to say!
Btw im talking about the T9 suited hand!
BEST POKER COACH EVER! Jonathan actually cares about his students and the level they at which they excel. My poker game has improved, My Mindset has improved and My Range Game has become as solid as a rock! Thank you Jonathan!
I’ve watched this like four times and learn something new every time.
Thanks for everything Jonathan. You do an excellent job teaching in a manor that really sinks in. I really appreciate your hardwork and all the content you produce.
Refreshing to find content from someone who is so enthusiastic about the game, and doesnt get involved in he said, she said politics. Love your content Jonathan. will def be signing up at the site.
lol
I love how Jonathan breaks down hands. Has helped me plug some leaks and improve. my game tremendously.
Awesome!
So much good info. Notices I can't remember it all. So now have a notepad with me for webinar time. Thanks Jonathan for your straight forward lessons 👍
I've seen the video twice now, and I'm looking forward to using my new skills at a live cash game
How is it going?
This lesson was helpful. I appreciated the points about not being afraid to value bet, especially on three streets. I've definitely been missing some value by checking back the river too often. Thanks!
Great content as always! I’m attending a new Cardroom tomorrow to play some cash games and to see how the Sunday tournament turns out so I can enter next week. Your content gives me the edge!
I'm referring to your T9 spades on the button example. I guess based on your logic of how to play the river with this hand against the bet, and now has me kind of questioning whether we should have been playing this hand at all. On the flop we called the bet because you thought we wanted to hit a flush. Same on the turn. The river we make our hand and now we don't like our hand enough to raise when we are pretty sure that we have the best hand. it kind of makes me question whether we should have been calling those bets with this draw to begin with. I'm not trying to be negative or critical i appreciate the video also.
Totally on board with this comment. We also have to have in mind that even the best cash low live players aren't folding any two pair or better on this run out. (Low stakes). And we have the third best possible hand. Pretty happy to put all my chips in here. If he triple barrels with the NFD or 2NFD he is not as tight as we think he is. This line on most TAG low stakes live cash game villains is KJ and sets. IMO
JL likes to say to call with your sc's if you are getting 20 to 1 implied odds. Some people wonder, yeah, but can we really expect to get 20 times our pre call? In this hand, we called 7 and opponents put in 246. We won 35 times our pre call playing passively. Imagine if we were in a situation where we could be aggressive.
In this hand you start off defining their range pretty wide, but the flop and turn bets narrow their range substantially (including: aces, ak, kq, kt which will not bet this river, but also sets, kj, nut flush draws, and bluffs like qt or even AQ with the A of spades). We are still ahead of most opponents bets on this river bet and have a very profitable call, but not enough of those hands that we beat will call the raise. This doesn't mean we wouldn't bet this river if they checked!
I was not prepared for the depth that he goes into but gladly appreciate it. Shows how much I have to learn.
You just earned a new subscriber, good stuff Jonathan, always looking to improve aspects of my game, and I think there are a lot of insightful points and theory here, thank you.
Awesome! I'm glad you enjoyed it.
Excellent webinar. I started taking notes in a notepad recently and I think it is helping me realize some mistakes I was making.
Ive been a member of pokercoaching for 4 years & I love it.
Awesome!
So helpful to clarify all these simple yet elusive lessons. Well worth the time put in. 🌖🔥
Thanks for all the content you produce!
Watched this multiple times and learn something new each time. Thank you for all the content you post.
These videos have helped my game a lot. Looking forward to more in the future.
Great vid. I just signed up at the coaching site recently and am catching up on some of these youtube vids as well. Glad to have found you!
Great stuff, as always, Jonathan! Thank you for all the content you put out!
Very effective. "Don't be afraid to value bet" hits home most for me. Thank you!
Glad I watched this video , every minute. Now you got me needing to learn more on when not to use the Nash push fold . Thanks I needed that.
His advice is shit!
I enjoyed the video. Good job explaining the logic behind what we're supposed to do and highlighting situations where exploitative play may be different.
Thanks for the great cash game content Jonathan! Looking to implement in cash game this weekend.
I just love your lessons Jonathan. I really have learned that I have a lot to learn.
Huge of fan of yours, Jonathan. Your combination of UA-cam material and tidbits have helped my small stakes cash game, quite a bit!
Great advice, really helped me be a more consistent winner.
Always a great deal of info to sift through and put into practice at the table!
Thanks so much for the great free advice Jonathan! It's perfect for people who want to get into poker and poker coaching!
Thanks for all you do! This has helped my game so far.
Am fairly new to poker, I have played a few small stakes tournaments but, after watching this, I may actually attempt a cash game. Can't wait to watch more material by Jonathan Little!!!
That $60 bet into like $360 on river with K9 is exactly the kind of bets I see at my games, and I'm always tempted to raise it as a bluff except I don't because I've seen those same guys then call with K9.
I do think the donkbet (leading into preflop aggressor on the flop) is underrated at low stakes, I try not to do it (because you basically have much less information about what the other guy is thinking if you lead and so the chance of bluffing away your whole stack by the river goes up) but I think it works way too often in small stakes, people just love to fold, most of them. I don't know tho, I really will try and pay attention to that. Maybe everyone's just adjusted by now since I last played.
lol, I feel your pain.
I don't normally play cash games as I'm more tuned to tournament play. I've learned a great deal from this video alone. I'll have to review the video again for full understanding. Great information!
In the 10s high flush vs the set of jiggities hand, I read his (too large) river bet size of 150 as putting you on AK or KJ, looking for value. I'd only call a passive player - I'd raise the action guy hoping he's a dummy that's in love with his set.
Another great hands breakdown hopefully it will cash out some day after watching so many Jonathan's lessons
Always enjoy Jonathan's webinars this one does not disappoint, first time I listened to him discuss cash games!
Really enjoy your content Jonathan. Thank you for everything you provide to the community
Jonathan, can I treat the first position range in a 6 max table as it was the LJ in a 9 max table? TY!
Yes.
This video is such a huge help on just a few things that transform your game so much for the better!
I had watched this video previously, but decided to watch it again as an adjunct to the 30 day challenge. For the 30 day challenge, one of my goals is to take notes as I watch the content, so I decided to do that here. It took me longer to get through the class but by adding comments and ideas to my outline based on the bullet points on the slides really helped me understand the content better. I also tried using the pre and post-flop GTO (approximation) charts available in pokercoaching.com and used the range analyzer tool, also on pokercoaching.com, to better understand the ideas Jonathan is communicating. I had good results with this approach.
Looking for this kind of advices, so helpful! Keep them coming! 🙌🏻
Thanks for making these kind of videos.. It helps me improve my game a lot!
These courses are invaluable! Thank you JL for your clear & concise manner. I can’t personally thank you enough. I have joined the poker coaching premium website based on how much value I received from your available content. God bless your efforts.
Thank you for this video. This is a great thing you are doing for people who have never played before and also who are trying to learn like myself!!
9 days in to the 30-dat Challenge and already learning so much! If you haven’t checked it out yet you should do it ASAP!
I thoroughly appreciate the amount of cash game content Jonathan puts out.
Great lessons picking up a lot of basics which are definitely helping. 👌🏻
Very often I’ve found. 1 2 players are super call happy
Ty John, enjoying the courses, getting back into the game.
Amazing man I love the way you teach easy to take in for a lot of different people
Rake in California for 1/2, 1/3 ranges between $5-7 depending on where you play. At casinos where jackpots are legal, the rake tends to be a little more, since a percentage of that rake goes towards the various jackpots offered.
Thanks for all the content you produce! It helps so much at my local casino!
I am now currently winning at 1/2 NLH in my card room. Thank you for the lessons
Avid podcast listener starting to dive into more videos and content from Jonathon Little and Poker Coaching for my poker study, and the value I'm getting already is fantastic. Please, keep it up.
Great stuff. I check back far too often on the river. I will watch this video many times. thank you for the content.
Always learn more every time I watch.
I think "egregious" may be the most popular word in poker commentary.
A lot of good info. I play mostly tournaments but the early part of tournaments play like a deepstacked cash game. Glad I watched.
Been watching you for the last week and the way you look at the game of poker is amazing I’ve only been playing since I turned 18 5 months ago but you’re teaching me so much
Just finished up the cash game masterclass. Brilliant!
Very informative.. I bring his audio book with me to my sessions. Easy to listen
Awesome training! Cant wait till the next time I'm at the tables!
Thanks a lot Jonathan, your videos help a lot! I really appreciate the effort! keep it going!
Really enjoyed the explanation on when to bluff and when not to bluff based on range advantage.
Great lessons. All of your videos are informative and helpful. Keep up the good work!
Ever since I have started studying along with Jonathan and his coaches I have been thinking a lot in terms of ranges. Thinking in terms of ranges is amazing! It has gotten me out of a ton of situations where before I would have called or made some kind of different error. The last session I had I folded top pair top kicker on a Q-9-4 rainbow flop to a straight forward player who raised my bet on the flop. He showed me his set of nines after I reluctantly folded. He was impressed with my lay down but really, what else could he have been raising that that spot? Q9s? I know I'm not giving much info about the hand, but yeah haha
Good content. For me the most helpful lesson was about range and nut advantage. It’s easy to mindlessly check or bet but thinking about this application from various ranges versus other ranges will be great!
Where are you playing 1/2 with people who open to 7? In Detroit, the standard raise is 10-15 dollars. It makes the game super easy to play because they constantly create 3-5 SPR spots with hands that want at least 7 or greater.
The card rooms I play regularly in California it's the same thing. In the $1/2 NL games, the standard open is usually $12. In the $2/5 game the standard open is usually $18-25.
that varies game by game, i've seen 7 be somewhat standard for maybe at least 40% or around that of any given 1-2 game. it would/should also vary by buy in. if a game has a 200 (or the more rare 100) cap on a 1-2 game rather than 300 cap (probably also standard) 7 vs 12-15 opening bet is much much better as it allows for much more SPR play.
Lol motor city still opens to $7 😂
plenty of places open to 7$ its annoying as fuck people do it. these are not your gto games lol. but yeah most places i have been you see all the ragnes from 5$-18$
Love the free content that Jonathan posts. This one was very informational.
Like all of Jonathan’s videos, this is very helpful. Thanks for all of the free content.
I just love your lessons Poker Coaching Rocks!. I really have learned that I have a lot to learn.
Im still learning but deep dive content like this is great
This information helped me in my local cash games
Good learning material for poker students. Lots of your videos are really informative.
I will be rewatching multiple times. Great Info.
Very useful video, great information with a good set up, didn’t seem as long as it was.
Super helpful. Can’t wait to try these out
material that helps us "old timers" who started playing very late in life ( around 2003 or so, and not for money until 2004-05), and have to compete with lunatic aggressive styles of play.
Learning so much from Jonathan’s books and videos!
Love the first slide. I would say my $550 profit playing 1/3 last night would have been closer to $800 if I value bet more on rivers when ops are calling down. Sometimes when 1 str or fl card comes in, I check behind whereas a small value bet/fold strategy would have earned me chips several times. It's so tempting to want to realise your equity without risking more chips whilst avoiding a large potential check/raise. Who wants to face a massive raise when you have top two or trips and be put in a real spot. I have made more 1/3 pot bets on rivers in these situations lately from watching your videos, which sets the price but has also been definitely profitable overall when I have a strong hand. The other thing is, when you don't value bet strong hands on rivers, the stronger players notice your timidity and likely work in some big raises to take advantage of you.
thats interesting , against good opponents who think 1/3 size is weakish and bluffraise or even value raise a weaker hands it is good to trap them by going thin for value as most of the times they will either call a weaker hand or bluffraise which you then can snap off
Rhanks for the lessons. Great stuff!
Good stuff, appreciate the content.
Sometimes I wonder what does he cover in master class... So much info he is giving for free. Could someone throw some light on contents on master class. Thinking of subscribing to it.
I get back into poker for awhile, do well and then boredom overall settles in. I think setting a goal and schedule is going to help greatly. Starting tonight, cash game weeknights and MTT's on the weekends (with cash in between).
Great materials as alway. I have been crushing th r table since I study your classes. Thanks.
I play mostly small tournaments, but the advice from this webinar still applies. I am one of those who doesn't value bet enough. Time to make that adjustment
Absolutely enjoy all the lessons!
Enjoyed the 3 lessons. My biggest takeaway is that I don't value bet and value raise the river enough. Thanks for pointing this out!
I truly appreciate these insights!
Again great content. Many thanks for the valuable coaching!
Always learning something new! Thanks again Jonathan
These are great Cash Game Lessons! Thanks for the content!!
