Good reaction. Tobias has mentioned Impera is about the rise and fall of empires. Twenties seems to straddle between the 1920's and touching on current times - and commenting how things are cyclical. The "roaring" 20's lead to the 30's, which was the great depression. Ghost likes to be more general, and make people think, but also enjoy great songcraft.
This is the best Disney Villain song we never got. Just imagine Jermaine Clement singing this as his giant crab tries to eat you. We'll be Shiny in the 20s
This is the 2022 version of Mummy Dust. We all know this! And I love it! Also note: you'd be surprised. Ghost is not a band to mosh to but I've seen fans still do it!
Tobias said this song is reggaeton lol definitely will became one of my favorites. It would be great if you react to "Ghuleh/Zombie Queen", it's a very unic song too.
Tobias put out Prequelle 2018. An album thats about the plague. And two years later Covid happened. Now he is about to release IMPERA. An album of the rise and fall of empires. At the same time Russia goes in to Ukraine and the whole world reacts and maybe that is the start of a fall of an empire. Scary... Yes, it is Fredrik who plays guitar. And the choir you hear is the kids (daughters) of Tobias, Klas (Producer), Fredrik (guitar), Richard (the drummer) and two more. (Probably friends of them). Great reaction. Love the faces when the music starts 🤣. This is not Ghost best song ever but it is one of the most importants cause it really gives you an idea just how talented Tobias is. No one could do what he does and for that reason i love this song. It is so unique and well written. One week to go now.
Gotta do zenith next. A favorite of mine is Majesty from the album Meliora. Not many people talk about it, the guitar sounds are really good in that song
Not sure if anyone else has written this to u guys, the grab em all by the hoohaas is a play on trumps “grab em by the pussy” quote. In the vinyl artbook is a depiction of him beside the song lyrics. 😂 Great reaction tho…and impressive ‘stache! A song I recommend reacting to is Deus in Absentia. One of my faves. 😜
Another great band to check out is Smash into Pieces, very talented with an amazing lead vocalists. They definitely have their own sound and can really mix it up. Save it for the Living is a good one!
Tobias is super influenced by film. He’s had many interviews where he’s mentioned this. Plus the song Square Hammer by Ghost is where you see it most. Check that song out. It’s really good.
Haha, we’ve done almost every song, but still missing a few from the first two albums. Once we get through them I plan to focus more on their concerts and music videos. Glad you’re enjoying the videos! 😬
You say a metal reggae song has a line referencing Singing in the Rain AND Pennies from Heaven? Go on... Oh, and a humorous reference to the pee tape? I am sold, thank you!
I just listened to Slavebranded for the first time and I absolutely loved it! Great guitar work! I'm also a huge fan of Stormlight Archive so that takes the song to another level. Keep up the good work!
@@FlameImperishable The way of Kings was actually my first Sanderson book. I'm planning on reading Mistborn after I finish Rhythm of War. I'm looking forward to new music from you guys!
They could refer to 1920s as well, as back then people were starting to have some political unrest.. And they refer to Reich too 🤔 just thought about it as they kinda have a steampunkish clothes live haha EDIT Tobias said to have gotten the inspiration from a Brazilian street party he saw on tv about 10 years ago. He thought it was the most intense music he had ever seen, and that it would be fun to add guitars to that recognizable drum beat🙌
Tobias has admitted that he's not particularly good at shredding guitar solos, and "Faith" was very difficult for him. He previously used Mikael Åkerfeldt from Opeth to do the classical guitar outro for "Helvetesfönster."
The song has a cool double-meaning, its both referencing the fascists rise in Europe in the 1920s (He even says "for the Reich to come to fruition", and also dunking on the neo-fascists that have been popularized lately through leaders like Bolsonaro, Putin and Trump. I'd recommend checking out the kinds of things that the fascists in Germany and Italy were promising their citizens in the 20s when becoming popular, and then check out the lyrics of this song again. A lot of this songs lyricism is based around that kind of fascist-rhetoric, as with usual Ghost tongue in cheek. This is pretty much an anti-fascist anthem.
Faith and Rats also have political undertones. Faith talks about a "perpetrator with a quill", how "the accuser sends the bill", and how "a pack of fools can take the stand." I'm pretty sure Rats is talking about allowing politics to infiltrate religion. There's also the parallel between Rats "into your sanctum you let them in" and Faith "There is a scourge in the guise of sanctity."
I love your reaction and spot-on analysis. But.....Jason...the gun show kept pulling my attention away. Future reactions...maybe a loose sweatshirt? *fanning self*
@Flame Imperishable Then we have a very different definition of lucky because what you've just described is the exact opposite of lucky. In fact, I would call it a crying shame :)😈
Haha, I’m reminded of that scene in Galaxy Quest where Alan Rickman’s character tells Tim Allen, “I see you’ve managed to get your shirt off.” 😁 great original Star Trek joke!
Great reaction!! I just wanted to tell you that this album as Tobias said : its about the rise and falls of empires, also he said the song “grift wood” releasing on march 11 is about the former vice president Mike pence ,so it's going to mix in a little more political views than their previous albums.
It’s admirable that they tried something new and different but even as a diehard fan, there’s an argument to be made that this is their worst song to date. The level of camp on this one just feels excessive, which feels weird to say considering it’s Ghost.
@@FlameImperishable I'm sure they do to you sitting in that room. To us it sounds terrible. I'm sure they're amazing for listening to music. Not so much when you are recording a UA-cam video. We don't get the same sound that you're getting.
I mean, It could always sound better… TBH, I haven’t been spending a huge amount of time editing. These have just been off the cuff, but I don’t get why people need to hear pristine audio of the track we are listening to on a reaction. That’s not the purpose or intent. We’ll eventually get better in time and a better camera mic will help the dialogue quality.
@Lyn Forge How tf you going to tell me my opinion in wrong? it's my opinion. I've spent a lot of money on them, and just saw them in concert. Don't be a simp.

This song is so cool and different. Love it. Great reaction and analysis as ever guys.
Very quirky and one thing I really love about Ghost is I never know what to expect with each song. They’re so so different!
Ghost is my favorite band. You two are my favorite to watch reacting to their music. Your mustache is amazing, and your wife is beautiful.
Thank you so much! I agree with you on both compliments! ❤️❤️

I bet at this point Tobias is like "oh no, not again" Lol.
Are we sure Tobias isn't wanting to do a rock opera, cuz this is giving me some mad "In The Flesh?/Run like Hell" vibes from Pink Floyd's the Wall.
I think he's mentioned it before actually.
Gotta do zenith next. A favorite of mine is Majesty from the album Meliora. Not many people talk about it, the guitar sounds are really good in that song
Majesty is one of their underrated songs and not many talk about it these days like you said
Majesty is one of my fav too 🤙🏽
Yes to Majesty!! That would be on my list for them too.
Your guys reaction’s really make my day . Great job.👏
Thanks!!
Great reaction! Ghost with another masterclass. Tobias is genius. Love the channel 👍
Thanks Terry!
I think the song is equally about the 1920's and 2020's... and all the way to the 30's!
I did the double-take at the screen as well when I first heard it
Great reaction, love how you got a bunch of the meaning right away. Hope you guys will do Rats soon too!
This song is brilliant!
Yep, Tobias plays piano and drums too (but not on the albums).
Great reaction, guys.
But in the Rats video. He's all the Ghouls, but NOT Copia for most of it.
I didn't expect them to do metal bossa nova/ raggae, I love it though
And it doesn seem "prophetic" in a way, much like Prequelle and the song Rats predicted the pandemic
They did a cool cover of the Beatles track “Here Comes the Sun” bonus off there first album, love the channel 👍.
Absolutely!
Big Beatles fan here! I grew up thinking they were the only band that existed thanks to my dad!
Never thought I would get a Ghost version of Repo the Genetic Opera.
Great movie!
nice song, I loved it
Nice, you jumped on this right away!

Love the Ghost reactions! I'd love to hear you guys do Lamb of God - Memento Mori or 512!!

Same here actually! After Stormlight, went on to Mistborn, then Elantris, skyward, war breaker, etc…. So many books!
I love your Stone's Reach shirt! Best melodeath album of the past 20 years
Great album! Though I’m torn between SR and Of flesh and bone. Just love those riffs and atmosphere!
Dunno if it's been mentioned but, the entire Impera album is about the fall of empires
The intro and synths in this song always makes me think of Austin Powers
