Personally, I LOVED this record on the first listen, which is very telling for me because[, not that I disliked the previous records,] basically my tastes for Manson’s music from ‘Born Villain’ through ‘We Are Chaos’ seemed to always come more from the second and third listens through. Could just be the fact that I’m very appreciative of hearing him these days. But, something about this record sounds extra, extra special. ‘Raise The Red Flag’ is the best track, IMO. Though I also enjoyed ‘One Assassination Under God’, ‘Death Is Not A Costume,’ and ‘Meet Me In Purgatory’. There was also something very personally revealing about ‘Sacrifice Of The Mass’. All-in-all, I think this is some of his best work he’s done in years. 🤟😎 Can’t wait for Part 2 !!!
The one mistake we'll never cease to make is compare the new to the old. We simply cannot take something and judge it on the face of it, we just have to weigh it against the old, and I don't know if anyone notices, but the old wins every single time. And I really don't think, in all cases, that it's because the old was better. But that's what I'm trying to get across : there shouldn't be this much criticism of something new, instead of just listening to these new records and trying to enjoy them, the first thing we do is rush to compare it to the ones we already have. Personally, I think this album is good, without looking at the past. It's a really personal piece and every Manson fan should be sensitive about it, the man was clearly hurt, and we couldn't see it because... Well, it's Marylin, who would think he has a heart.. And he poured all that hurt and betrayal into his lyrics, but we don't seem to be appreciating that. If we can't see how loaded this album is, then we've no business following him. We may as well stab him in the back like every one else
The Sample in "death is not a costume" didnt remind me to ACSS, but to holy wood - "the president is dead, let us pray" , at the end of narcissisus before "president dead"..
@terencedealonso8923 yes tourniquet is more powerful, what this album is lacking is the rawness and power of his vocals unfortunately, but i guess hes getting old and also maybe its a technical decision, to be able to do more on stage while he sings
@@gears8926 Yeah, I'm listening to the new MM album now I was hoping it would have those Antichrist Superstar vibes but there is something missing. I hate to be that guy and try to dictate a musicians career but I think it may be a wise choice for MM to just continue touring and stop focusing on writing new music.
"No Funeral Without Applause" is probably the saddest song on this album. It's like "Four Rusted Horses", but sadder. I absolutely love it. He seems to have resigned to being the monster everybody fears and hates. It's an Assassination Under God for sure
This album is the best thing he’s done since holy wood for me. It’s a very competent blend of all his styles throughout his career. Really meaningful, deep lyrics, great atmosphere, and the run time is just right. I love his 2014-2020 run, but in terms of agency he is lacking in that department. With everything going on with him the last 4 years, similar to the columbine massacre blame, it’s made him sort his act out and ultimately made him create some of the most meaningful music he’s made since holy wood. If nothing else, it’s an album that requires multiple listens from start to finish for it to really sink in. It’s going to be interesting what part 2 delivers. Nice review too.
Im so excited about this album. I really needed to hear Manson again and see him again after my 17 year old step son shot himself and they donated all 6 of his organs last year. Finally, today this album came out and has lifted my spirits. Puts a fucking smile on my face. ❤
I am annoyed by UA-camrs who make reactions to albums and cut out most of the song (or remove it altogether) because of copyright. Like, seriously? Dude, you have 25 subscribers, you don't have monetization, why be so afraid for copyrights? They won't block your video, just a die will be hanging. So what?
"they won't block your video"... not so true. It has definitely nothing to do with monetization! I always upload a version with all the songs. There are artists who allow the use and some who don't. Then you get the message that your video is blocked in at least some countries. That means not being on the homepage, not being among the suggestions, not being able to be found through a search... in the end, no one would see it. Why should i upload a video that no one sees? Have you ever thought about that? Copyright has nothing to do with how big or small I am. If there's a copyright claim they block your videos no matter how big or small you are. I mean of course be annoyed, but then maybe by UA-cam and not the content creators. we must follow the UA-cam rules, we dont make the rules ;)
Thank you for taking time to review this album. There are major Ozzy vibes coming off this record. I thought so when Sacreligious was released as a single. While I believe there are Holy Wood-esque sounds i also found there are more references to other albums, like Born Villain, The Pale Emperor, and the mature parts of We Are Chaos. We Are Chaos is a masterpiece imo, I think if you dislike it it was because it wasn't what you wanted. Shooter Jennings did a phenomenal job with his collaboration on that album. Theres an accusation that hes used auto-tune on this album, or in your case distortion. However I'd like to say that hes most likely uses his usual methods like layering.
It's his best in decades. I'm a fan of EMDM through WAC, but this one is something else. It's a comeback in every sense of the word. It really is like meeting up with an old friend you haven't spoken to in years. I can't say it enough - he really is BACK.

I loved the entire album on first listen.
Its not good or bad its excellent

Homage to portrait of an American family is nod if you understand
Just listened to the new album- you're RIGHT! "Nod if you understand" did remind me of "get your gunn"...!
Was my first thought exactly
Definitely sounds like a track reminiscent of portrait of American family.
This album is awesome!!!!❤❤❤❤
Funeral without applause is absolutely amazing IMO
My favorite track off the album. It’s a great return on a whole, but that song could’ve easily been a title track.
The Sample in "death is not a costume" didnt remind me to ACSS, but to holy wood - "the president is dead, let us pray" , at the end of narcissisus before "president dead"..
I was thinking about the sample he used on the untitled track or track 99 on the ASS record, but you are so right with that!
the chorus of No funeral without applause is literally tourniquet 2.0, as a fan of ACSS im surprised you dont like it
Yeah OK i can see the vibe, but sorry the chorus in tourniquet is so much powerful, intense with the bass.
@terencedealonso8923 yes tourniquet is more powerful, what this album is lacking is the rawness and power of his vocals unfortunately, but i guess hes getting old and also maybe its a technical decision, to be able to do more on stage while he sings

Wonderful record, I'm back to hearing the true soul of the reverend.
amen ;)
If it was recorded like Holy Wood it would be infinitely better.
Its amazing. Top 5 manson albums. Phenomenal. They worked HARD!
Listen to 69 eyes lost boys
I haven't heard this song in years. I could definitely do that ;)

Warst du nicht gestern bei wednesday 13? 😅👍
Ja, das durfte man sich ja wohl auch nicht entgehen lassen :D
My opinion. It sounds like Holywood mix with Mechanical Animals.
At Marilyn Manson all is goooood!
The récord is soooo good
I agree
