The melody on the heavy part in the end was originally used in a short track called Spöksonat (Ghost sonata) on the previous album Meliora. Its like a music box instrumental thats about 1 minute. So it was really cool to see the melody return.
As a metal musician, there are a lot of classical influences in metal. Metal is born out of some of the same composition and writing styles as people like Beethoven. If he were alive today, he'd probably be a metal musician.
Prequelle is a theme album that is based about the plague. But as always Tobias writes his songs so you can interpret them in many ways. So yes. It is about the rats that spread the plague. But also you can think about it as a song of bullies on social media. That you never can get away from them. (Still coming after you, there's nothing you can do, never to let go) With all the smart phones and tablets always online they can't always reach you . And some also say it's about his old friends that sued him. That they are the rats. So listen and enjoy and make your own interpretation 😃
Dude you can 100 percent get away from a cyber bully.. EASILY.. the secret is, you ready for this, close your computer. Delete that app. Remove this very specific connection that you have artificially put in place that is allowing direct and instant access to YOU by THEM, across hundreds or thousands of miles.
That riff at the end is actually a motiff Ghost has used in a couple of other places; one being the intro song ashes that precedes rats and the other is on Spoksonat from Meliora where it's played by a harp. Kinda blew my mind when I made that connection as the differing context disguised it beautifully. Anyway love your videos (kid interruptions and all lol) and am looking forward to your take on the rest of Impera when it comes out!
@@FlameImperishable i went on Spotify and listened to your one Song. I like it. Looking forward to hear your New album. What part of the country are y’all in? Do you play anywhere?
Yup. Prequelle is about the Black Plague. The whole album is a Concept Album and set during that time period. Which I think is why it's called Prequelle, the other albums take place later in the future (also maybe since this album has a lot of 80s rock sound). But with all their work, there is always a concept meaning but also a modern meaning to something in the real world. I believe this one is also about social media toxicity.
You guys have to watch all of Ghost's UA-cam videos - all their music vids are great and they have a bunch of short comedy/history clips. Great band!!!!!
If you want a band with a unique and interesting song writing style I would recommend Twelve Foot Ninja with songs like One Hand killing, Coming For You, long way home, awesome songs from a weird and quirky band
A lot of the songs on this album has two meanings as there was a court case on going with former members. Basically he is calling them rats in this. The song Faith is a perfect example
Interesting, I never considered whether hamsters had patience. I guess rats make great test subjects in mazes because they are problem solvers and survivors!
Please go back a few seconds before starting from pauses. Give a little respect to musical matherial. You loosing a lot - got cut in half phrases, loose key changes, flushed down dramatical effects, and even gone whole meaning layers. Say, you managed to cut right in between of "beast with many names" in the very first verse of "He Is", and then abstracting about "this is church song".
Tobias was the vocalist in a death metal band called Repugnant. So, he can do both styles pretty well.

I think I’ll do a cover of spoksonat classical guitar.
Multi album bookend. 🔥
Its a sik riff…but the chorus is amazing…very “bark at the moon”esque
You guys rock! Rats is so 80’s rock influenced, great song and video. This song is referring to social media and it’s devastating effects on humanity.

Send us a link to your music!
The way the vocals kind of reverse reverb in reminds me of Bark at the Moon

We haven’t played live in a while, but perhaps when the album comes out we’ll get invited to a random festival here or there. We are Houston based!

@@FlameImperishable Hell yeah!
I love the riff at the end too. One of my favorite Ghost songs
Lol ghost kinda is the lord of the rings of bands and I'm here for it.
you guys should listen to one of their instrumentals from this album. Miasma or Helvetesfönster
definately MIASMA!
Another good song from the same album is pro memoria or witch image! :) plus if you have ghost from the Papa II era it’s amazing \m/ great reaction!
You should listen to "Life Eternal" off this album. Absolutely beautiful song
Keep it up!
He is referring to his x band mates who tried to sue him. They are "rats"!
I can't believe it took me this long to connect the dots on it, but that ending...
I suppose that's the rats that have finally come to get you.
If you want a band with a unique and interesting song writing style I would recommend Twelve Foot Ninja with songs like One Hand killing, Coming For You, long way home, awesome songs from a weird and quirky band
You should try "Emigrate - I'm Not Afraid" with Tobias
Spirit Box Rocks
All their albumtitles are in latin.
this whole album talks about the plague and how the world reacted at that time....
A lot of the songs on this album has two meanings as there was a court case on going with former members. Basically he is calling them rats in this. The song Faith is a perfect example
Faith Ghost
Major Flash Gordon vibes lol
they are a very theatrical band, you need to watch the music videos
Btw rats are great pets, most are way more patient then let's say a hamster.
Interesting, I never considered whether hamsters had patience. I guess rats make great test subjects in mazes because they are problem solvers and survivors!
Plus a lot of hamsters are solitaire animal's and night and dusk active, and er less forgiving when you wake them.
listen to rats return, new porcupine song
you both are nice people greetings from Poland try polish hard rock masterpiece TSA " HEAVY METAL WORLD "
Get some headphones.
Kiss the goat plis 🙏

You have the build to a chorus and you stop it!! You lose the effect!!!!
