I agree completely! I had sold on ebay for over 6 years and never knew how the boxes worked because of the lack of info. When I finally learned how to use them, I couldn't believe how much you can save with shipping them. The post office also didn't do any justice with naming them "regional." The name itself makes you think that there are restrictions with what postal zones they can be shipped to. It's crazy that the post office doesn't have any easy to find info on how they work. My assumption is because it's a service that's only available to commercial and online customers. Regardless, I'm glad that I was able to help!

Damn it never mind it says usps discontinued these boxes the end of last month! Also one reason our prices are so high is because China has been registered as a developing nation so they pay the same rates as someone in a struggling country in Africa. They also send over 90% of the mail combined with the other country’s registered as developing country’s which makes countries like ours to pay for their shipping with our rates going up. There is a very good video explaining this if you would like to see it. If they were paying what they should of been paying from the start our mail would probably be Half of what it is today but even if next year they register as a developed nation our prices won’t go down usps will just make a killing because why would they drop it if they already get away with the rates they charge now.

A1 and B2 are just different sizes of A & B regional boxes. There are two different sizes for both a and b (you can order both on the USPS website). But, they both work the same way and cost the same amount. the different sizes just allow you to ship different shaped objects. I hope this helps.
I reshaped a regional A (RRB-A1) box to ship something measuring 13x4x3; hopefully, USPS won't care--overall volume/sq inches/ft are the same..just made new creases to fit the item.

Hey David! Sometimes eBay hides it to "simplify" things for the customer, and it's more than likely buried in the priority options. I know when I'm shipping from my mobile app it's harder to find. Try selecting "priority mail" and the see if it gives you a dropdown menu of all of the different priority options. If that doesn't work and you still can't find it, try calling eBay and they can guide you through it via screen sharing. Hope this helps!

Yes, you are correct. You can ship them both anytime and can ship them anywhere you'd like. A lot of people get confused thinking that the "Region" title refers to who and where they can be used. However, unlike flat rate boxes (which cost the same regardless of destination), the rate you pay for Regional Rate boxes varies based on how far you are sending them (e.g. what zone or “region”). However, in a sense it is a “flat” rate because the shipping costs the same, regardless of weight, for packages shipped to the same “zone.” Oftentimes, you can save significantly by using regional rate boxes because you're charged at a lower weight rate than the package actually weights. As long as you stay within the weights for the box you can use them. The weight limits are as follows: USPS Regional Rate Box A: Shipments of up to 15 lbs. USPS Regional Rate Box B: Shipments of up to 20 lbs. I hope this helps! ~Justin

Hey Tania! You're correct, it doesn't show when listing on mobile (but will on desktop.) The reason being is that eBay tries to streamline things on mobile to make mobile listing easier. When selecting regional on mobile, the buyer only needs to know that you will ship via Priority Mail. If you enter 2 pounds, the shipping calculator will show the buyer the correct price for a Regional A box. Then, you can select regional when you're mailing things out. I hope this helps! ~ Justin
Regional Rates are strictly an online or commercial service. You can't get the boxes at your local post office (you can only order them on the post office website). If you buy the postage for them at the post office, they will add a fee to the overall price. The reason for this is because Ebay and other online merchants have massive contracts with the post office. This is also why the postage rates you see on the eBay are discounted versus what you would pay at the counter at the post office. I'm not the best guesser, and whenever I use flat shipping I see to always get burned from someone that is buying from Alaska or Hawaii. I've modified them before, and haven't had any issues. I've only made them smaller and have still used priority as the service. However, the boxes are free from the post office and you can have them delivered to your home if you order them online. I've sold/shipped over 1k items on eBay and am embarrassed to say I'm just figuring this out now.
Confusing but usps does give u options
USPS is a great way to ship any item. I use them more than UPS or Fedex because in general their shipping rates are lower for most items.
They are now discontinued by the USPS.
