thanks for this video. im a new seller. my question is, if im selling on mercari, how to i price the shipping using pirateship if i don't know yet the zipcode of my would be buyer? do i just use whatever zipcode and pray no one from alaska or hawaii buys my product? @hairytornado
@@elizabethb6677 I haven't done it myself but I remember there is a gentleman explains how he does it. Basically he calculated the shipping cost as if he is shipping it to Hawaii but then he includes something stating that he will refund the shipping cost via check or zelle if the customer pays more in shipping then s/he should. I don't know how that works...
Pirate Ship has one of the best web designs I've EVER seen. So simple, so clean, so glitch-free. They should teach a course on website design. Also, their customer service is FANTASTIC and they have a live support chat, which to me is what separates great website customer service from mediocre
That was an excellent explanation of Pirate Ship. I kept wondering why I couldn't save with box in bag like everyone seems to. You explained it so I could understand perfectly. Thanks for taking the time to do this and to go into such great detail. Very informative!
Heard a lot about Pirate Ship but have never used them. Now that I am getting back into reselling, this is definitely going to come in handy! Thanks for the great info!
Great detailed info for pirate ship. Much of the info I didn’t know about and been using PS for several months now. I also enjoy how they refund you if you’ve accidentally over measured and over weighted shipped items automatically. They really do look out for you 👌🏼
Well done HT! Very well explained, and your best tip is to use the calculator and figure out the cheapest rate to ship BEFORE you pack your item in a box and get rates. I learned the hard way on that. I took a snapshot of the charts of the mailing boxes and soft packs for cubic shipping so I can look at them at a glance over my shipping supplies. Great video especially for newer ebayers. Keep up the awesome videos!
Well crap! I wish I would have seen this an hour ago. I thought I was doing good checking both. Tonight I packed up a pair of heavy Red Wing Boots, checked both and got the same price. What I didn't realize about PS is you can do measurements in 1/4 inches. I rounded up to 6.5 when it could of been 6.25. Had I realized that I could of saved another 2 bucks! Thanks for the videos and information!
Thanks for this video. I heard about pirate ship but haven't really checked it out. Shipping is probably the most difficult thing for a new reseller so videos like this is very helpful. Thanks again man
Thanks for clearly explaining this. I've never used it because I've heard to many others explain Ways to get around the system but I like that you describe it honestly.
Thanks for the tip on Pirate Ship. I just compared them on 8 packages and four of them were cheaper and saved me about 14.00 total! One package from CA to FL was 10.00 cheaper! WOW! Thanks again. Rich
Great videos! I do eBay as a hobby (since 5/2003). I usually search for hard goods and collectibles. I haven't thrift shopped for a while, but these videos are giving me that "itch" again. Keep up the good work!
I'm so glad I watched your videos. I signed up for pirateship after opening my store one month ago and even though I only saved $1.43, it's a savings! I sell everything with free shipping and, of course, the buyer was 3000 miles away from me. LOL!
To put this into perspective the box was 8 x 8 x 3 and it weighed 1 1/2 pounds. eBay wanted to charge me more money so I checked pirateship and saved. I know there are big savings when you ship heavy packages.
Your video was super helpful! Thank you for explaining what type of shipments would be best for using Pirateship! I’m selling a box of heavy boots and the USPS Priority Mail Shoe Box is going to be SO extremely helpful. Because USPS offers the Medium Flat Rate box for $15 something ☠️
WHATS UP BRO THANKS FOR THE HELPFUL INFORMATION NOT JUST ON THIS VIDEO BUT ALL YOUR OTHER ONES I HAVE BEEN RESELLING FOR SOME YEARS NOW BUT IM ALWAYS LEARNING FROM THIS GREAT COMMUNITY! MUCH LOVE FROM LAS VEGAS!
Thanks for this video. I've heard you talk about Pirate Ship in the past but this video was perfect in letting me grasp what kind of shipments would be beneficial using Pirate Ship. I need to sign up.
I think you made a great point with the box in a bag shipping method. I see it abused all the time as well on IG/UA-cam. There are some people who aren't fully aware of how it works and there are those know but simply don't care. I really enjoyed your video and just subscribed!
I forgot to comment, thanks for this video. I really did learn what I needed. I was always comparing the wrong way, First Class, Parcel, etc., Now I get it. small but heavier things. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
I hope this doesn’t sound like a dumb question, but here it goes. If you use pirate ship and print your label and all that, then where do you take the package to, to be shipped?
It just goes in the regular mail with the normal packages. It isn't a special shipping service, it's just a discounted service. It ships the same as a regular 2-day priority package.
Dang! Dropping a lot of knowledge here! Love that you used Chuck E Cheese in your example. LOL! No questions, I have an account but rarely use it. Maybe I will look into it for those heavier items though. Thanks for sharing! :)
I sold a thick leather jacket today that weighed 3lbs 7 ounces. Priorty was like $12.85. I checked pirate ship and it was $9.50. The heavier the item is, the more you'll save. If that jacket would have fit in the same box but weighed 20 lbs, it STILL would have cost $9.50.
Hello! So thankful you explained pirate ship very clearly. Was hoping you could enlighten me whether I can tape the poly bag over the box corners or just leave it untaped. There's conflicting ways being shared out there. I find I can trust your input on this. Thanks 😊
Yes you can use all generic boxes (as long as they are not over 18" in any direction) and you can use the 6 usps shipping boxes I talked about in the video.
Love the explanation of what it is, but I’m still wondering how exactly I’d use it. Like, do I need a scale, printer? Do I just take it to the post office, give it to my mailman? Is there a label I need to stick on the package? Something I scan at the post office?
Heard you mention Pirate Ship on a previous video and I've been using them ever since. Just plain fool-proof. I had to stumble around a bit the first time I was sending something Media Mail, but I found the checkbox after a quick look through their help system. I don’t know why it took me so long to find this! So is this when seller provides free shipping? If buyer pays, can you provide this option on EBay? Thanks, very helpful.
Thanks for the video, been trying to look into this. Question - do I need a special "label printer" and those self sticking labels or can the shipping labels be printed on a regular printer and then taped to the package? Thanks :)
@@HairyTornado Thanks. I heard you say and have seen others say the same thing about cutting priority boxes down to size - shoe boxes, and other larger sizes to get into lower tiers. If a buyer asks you to text them or call them it is 100% a scam. If a buyer has 0 feedback that isn't necessarily bad that just means they have a new account or have never bought or sold on eBay ever before. Shipping to APO addresses is fine. As long as you ship to the address provided by the customer at the time of purchase eBay will back you up.
