The first time I stripped one down I didn’t like it, but removing the expansion vessel is super easy and a ring spanner fits on easy enough on the back nuts, plus they only need loosening to get the burner out, and when said burner is out, removing the bolts is super quick. Great vid 👍👍

Great video fella. So many things on this boiler you cannot get to easily. Hard work getting to those heat exchanger nuts if it's in a cupboard(as they are designed and promoted to) and cannot take the sides off. And a sideways gas pressure testpoint facing other pipes. Also cannot do a flue integrity if rear flued..

These boilers are really easy to service. There is space inside due to well thought out layout of the components inside. In my opinion, better than worcester, baxi and ideal.

glow worm energy came out first, but vaillant wanted a more affordable boiler for the valiant brand and released the glow worm energy as the vaillant home boiler onto the new builds market to test it. then released to general market as the ecofit pure. obviously it has different user controls and facia.

Hi Tomkat i wonder is pouring water through the exchanger is the right thing to do, i never saw this boiler in the field but my experience with similar exchanger on Remeha Tzerra and Calenta, if you rinse the aluminum oxide turns in to soggy slush and later hardens and clog up the exanger.

side note. don't try to take those 4 bolts out if there is any heat in that heat exchanger. or they won't go back in again. also. you don't need to take the expansion vessel out to get to that back nut. its awkward but can be done with a long spanner.

  • @davep4703

So the diverter valve failed directly because of being installed into a non power flushed system. So seal failure could have been repaired with a new valve.

There is a lot more to it than that. The boiler hadn’t been installed by a gas register engineer and the warranty was voided by glow worm so the customer wanted rid of it because it kept breaking down due to a poor install. So if you are thinking we have ripped the customer off you don’t know the full story.

As a home owner (who recently paied 2300 for a new glowworm boiler then 1000 for new rads) i feel a lottle shafted that all these componants are internal and cannot be worked on as this winter after new rads i belive i have a blocked expantion vessel. So now i need to pay for a flush on top of the nearly 3500 ive spent already.
The gas i get but EV is a bit silly really same as the trap for hot water dont know what its called.
I dont think non gas safe people should be able to work on the gas but i do think it could be 2 different covors. Repairability is everything in this disposable world.
Its like owning a car you cannot open the bonnet to. Very annoying and to my knowlage doesnt exist in any other industry.

Usual plastic rubbish. Easy access for that gas test point for your screwdriver 🙄 new seals every time you want to clean the heat x, and what a faff to get at it. Easy if you take the side off but guaranteed it’ll be against a wall so you can’t. Test points on the turret so if it’s side flued, it’s a pain for your analyser.

Vaillant have now ceased production of the ecotec range probably their best and most widely sold domestic combination boiler .
Only my opinion but the ecotec is by far a more superior boiler in every way .
A real shame but it all comes down to costs many of the components in the ecofit are half the price of the ecotec .

This boiler gets wrong all the things the Logic gets right in terms of ease of access, and quite possibly quality, even though the layout looks similar overall. Using water flushes out Logic heat exchangers just fine so I don't see why it shouldn't work on the Glow Worm/ Vaillant perfectly satisfactorily. That's not a boiler I can build enthusiasm for compared to the Baxis and Ideals. That diverter reminds me of the one on the Ferroli Optimax.....and they can leak too.
