    I bought a 2015 FZ6R in June 2017 and drove it from St. John's Newfoundland down to Birmingham, Alabama, about 11,000 Km. By the time winter came, I had 18,800 Km on the bike with no issues. plenty of highway power. In 6th gear my interstate cruising speed was 130 Kph. The under body exhaust made it easy to put on a full set of saddlebags. I put on a Zero Gravity Sport Touring wind screen, and added a USB charger and Ram-X mount for my cel phone. Rode Tail of the Dragon and Blue Ridge Parkway on it. This June, 2018, I'm planning a trip to Key West, Florida on it. The only reason I would consider a full supersport like an R6 is for the greater lean over riding position. But the FZ6R is the perfect touring bike. And wear cycling shorts to make butt burn go away.

      I will be a new rider this summer. Taking the MC course in May. I just bought a 2016 for 5100 CAD with storage all taxes and fees. It only has 7250km. Has some mods (frame slides, smoked flush mont front turn signals along with led strips in the fake air intakes as amber signals and fender elimintor kit. I believe a aftermarket 3 flash plusing break light as well. From what I can I got a very good deal. The biggest thing is waiting for summer to come. Great review and comments

    I own a 2013 fz6r. I love it, it's very versatile. It does nothing great but does everything well. Actually I think it looks great. I will probably own mine forever.

    lol....yes the seat does suck on the fz6r. it's my only real gripe I have with the bike. I have a 2011 raven myself with over 41,000 miles on it. it was a perfect choice for my 1st motorcycle. gonna keep her forever! :)

    I had this bike for 3 years and thought it was a decent... I never really loved it but never really hated it either. I saw it as a daily beater and rode the shit out of it (often would go off-roading to get to camp sites lol). By the time I was done I destroyed the fairings so I turned it into a street fighter and sold it. The bike is a champ though it's well built like a tank. Had 0 problems during the whole 3 years and 20000KM of ownership.

      Thank you fro your input. I really like the bike for what it is, It is a great commuter bike and has the ability to be played with on corners. Something different might be better if you want to do more specialized riding, but the bike is great for what it is and it's easy to learn with.
      Please feel free to ask any questions or leave any helpful comments.

      Master Squider I'm not sure on the brand, I ordered them several years ago off ebay for only 30 or 40 $. if you look for them I'm sure you can find them in many different colors. hope this helps.

    it really is a good bike, i enjoyed it while i owned one. I wasnt as lucky with the road trips though, 1600 mile round trip and my butt was pretty sore near the end, had to keep pulling over every 40 miles.

      Sorry to hear that, I don't have many issues with longer trips, just have to get off and stretch every so often. The more I ride it the more I love it, its a great bike for what it is.

    Scary at the end when your dad went to pass that truck and immediately had to swerve back into his lane. Gotta make sure there's enough room to blast before passing a long truck. Glad he didn't just go for it.

  • @Smaug1
    @Smaug1 6 років тому +2

    Great motorcycle, I agree. Great BEGINNER motorcycle? Not with all that plastic. Beginners need something that is droppable without causing hundreds of bucks' worth of damage. When I driveway dropped my SV650, I scratched the bar end and bent the handlebar. That's it.
    You're wrong about ear plugs. Your hearing adjusts and you can hear everything you need to hear, but the wind blast won't deafen you. Give them an honest try; it'll save your hearing when you're an old man. I'm amazed that I went my first year riding without plugs. I'd never go back, even with good wind protection. (I had a Concours and an FJR)

    • @theastronautbiker7387
      @theastronautbiker7387  6 років тому

      Jeremy D Thank you for your input. I find it you put some frame sliders on the plastics wont scratch from a drop. Yes I've dropped it and it's been fine.
      Personally I already have hearing loss so I try to save what I can when I can. Has a great forgiving power band and is cheaper on insurance for a 600cc which is why I reccomend it.

    • @theastronautbiker7387
      @theastronautbiker7387  5 років тому

      That really depends on your comfort level. I could ride this bike all day and with only a few stops to stretch the legs. I am completely comfortable taking this bike across the country if I wanted to.

    what bike would be a 10 out of 10 beginner bike?

    • @theastronautbiker7387
      @theastronautbiker7387  3 роки тому

      10 out of 10 beginner would be something in the 300cc range. Ninja 300, R3 or similar. But I would caution against those as you may outgrow those sooner rather then later. A 500 or 600 is a bit more for a beginner to learn on but they aren't bad for learning at all. Just be careful and go slow with it.
