    Having tried the X-T5... compared to my X-T3. Weight not increased, Size same, Batt life is insane! (double), IS is just incredible, Speed menus and functionality is improved, AF and face/eye detect is out of this world, Extra mega pixels (great for cropping = finer details wow!), I used the 20mega pixel file size option (old Mac computer, slows down too much on the 40M files), 3 way tilt screen (same as xt2 and xt3) thank you Fuji... hated the xt4 flip screen. Overall an incredible camera - saving my pennies up!

    I appreciate your video. I’m exclusively a photographer. I would report (regarding IBIS) that for my “non-people” shots I am routinely shooting at 1/10 and 1/15 shutter speeds. That makes a HUGE difference in my ISO settings .. and makes for some wonderful shots.

      For sure. Even 2 stops would be a decent pickup on image quality in lower light.

    Nice video :) In my opinion after using the x-t5 for a few days, I think it has proven it's mantel for me and what I shoot..the x-t5 AF alone and how it was detecting stuff made shooting everything with lock on focusing so useful, I had more time to compose instead of worrying about the AF. Definitely the Af for me is the most stand out feature of this camera in my opinion.. :)

    I’ve handle the X-T5 and compared to my X-T3 at the Fuji House of Photography in London. I found very little difference between the two, size or weight wise. For me, the IBIS is a big attraction, especially as I’m noticing a slight tremor in my hands from time to time, so I thinking this would be a big help, also using it with a non-OIS lens.
    The extra mega pixels isn’t as big a pull for me either, the improved AF, longer battery life are however. I’m not rushing as it’s a big purchase, so will wait when Fuji run one of their cash back offer’s.

    • @ShutterFanatic

      Thanks for the insight. I too may pick one up when they run a decent offer. Just not $1700 given where some of the competition is.

    Picked up a used xt3 last month and loving it! Coming from canon and got a adapter so I can use my ef glass on my xt3. But I’m considering just selling it all for native Fuji glass.

    • @ShutterFanatic
      @ShutterFanatic  9 місяців тому

      Fuji has some good glass. I think adapting lenses is only good until you can get to native lenses. I did the same going from Canon to Sony years ago.

    Hey, ShutterFanatic! JerredZ here - I love this video. The X-T3 is honestly amazing for the price, right? I agree with you on al lol this. And I am kind of ashamed for sometimes buying into the hype and “new is always better” philosophy. I sometimes forget how amazing even last year’s camera is! Great content man.

      Thanks for the nice comments but I have a lot to improve upon. Buying new gear is fun and nothing wrong with that if you got the expendable cash. It makes for good content for your channel. I almost bought the Nikon z6ii today since the price fell to $1600 but the lack of 3 party lenses held me back (still thinking about it). I like your content. Keep up the good work and your honesty.

    If you’re into fast paced documentary photography, the AF-C performance is quite a big jump up from the last gen cameras. This alone is enough for me to upgrade - even if everything else stayed the same.

    • @ShutterFanatic
      @ShutterFanatic  2 роки тому

      For sure. If you need better autofocus, you should see a bump.

    • @matangox

      What kind of photography would require more than 30 frames per second? Maybe some scientific work, when you're shooting fast objects, like bullets or test car crashes for example. 30 fps is pretty much the most you'll need. That being said, they could increase the mechanical shutter framerate, but other than that...
      The only reasons I would upgrade is IBIS and battery size. But you can find alternatives for those, with the battery grip and with an OIS lens (or gimble) for example.
      XT4 adresses all of these issues plus the flip screen.
      For now I'm happy with my XT3.

    Thanks! I tested out the X-T5 which is an amazing camera but I ended up buying a second hand X-T3 as a backup for my X-Pro3 and X100V. I didn't wanna buy a new computer and new batteries and a new external hard drive right now. But I'll definitely buy the X-T5 or better the X-Pro4 later

    Super disappointed in the lack of a battery grip option.. not for battery life but for shooting in portrait mode, especially with medium or bigger lenses. I won't be pushed to the new X-H line either. All the new cameras seem like fantastic image capturing machines, no doubt, but I'll continue to rock my X-T2 for the foreseeable future

    • @ShutterFanatic
      @ShutterFanatic  2 роки тому

      I hear you. I know the battery grip is a big deal for a lot of people. With the XH PASM dial, I feel that Fuji was more concerned about getting new users instead of it’s fan base since they could have easily done it.

    • @JeffreyHauser
      @JeffreyHauser Рік тому

      Ditto on the lack of a battery grip! This was absolutely a deal breaker for me. I will continue to use my XT-3 camera bodies with battery grips. The XT-5 was the first camera in the XT lineup that no longer offered a battery grip option. I have no interest in the XH2 or XH2S at this time. I am patient & will look for the successor XT-6 ? or successor to the XH2S & see what Fuji cameras features are being offered at that point in time. Also, huge megapixel files are something that I do not necessarily need. I am heavily invested in the Fujinon lenses & do NOT want to leave the Fuji ecosystem at the present time.

    Ibis on Fuji cameras doesn’t work for video. You can’t really pan like you would on other brands. It helps on statically shots though.

    Thanks for the video. I recently picked up an xt3 used just like you and on the fence about selling it for the xt5. I shoot stills only. My biggest concern is that my favorite prime lens 35 1.4 will not render well with such high megapixels. It didn’t make the cut of recommended lenses for xt5. IBIS is the only thing I feel I am missing.

    • @ShutterFanatic
      @ShutterFanatic  2 роки тому

      It should render as good or better than the xt3. The only difference is that you have to deal with a 40 mp file without seeing much benefit over the 24mp sensor.

    Good video!
    I understand and/or agree with your points. The higher megapixels would be good for cropping, but for most cases it doesn't help me. At most I print in A3 sizes and the X-T4's 26 megapixels look fine.
    Would have preferred too if it was a 30something megapixels and maybe a bit cheaper. Still, it's a great camera.

    • @Vinterloft

      35MP as that's the minimum for 8K. Then we'd only need one high-end camera WITH stacked sensor instead of three where 2 are cop-outs, that could do 4K120 *AND* 8K30. They could just have different dial options and that's it.

  • @Vinterloft
    @Vinterloft Рік тому

    "Legacy glass will only resolve 30MP" not even that, they didn't get any improvement after the 16MP of the X-T1 to the 24MP to the 26MP sensors. The 16-55 F2.8 is around 32MP for reference. The only lenses so far that can resolve the full 40MP are the new 18, 23, 33, 56mm primes, the 90mm, the 200mm, and the Viltrox 13mm and 75mm. Fuji 8-16 zoom comes close. I really hate that stupid list Fuji put on their site, it's totally wrong, most lenses on there get nowhere close to resolving 40MP

    The X-T5 has 7 stops of IBIS - The X-T3 came out in 2018 just to get it right. Your views on all the upgrades....that wipe the floor with the X-T3 (I have one of those also)... are very personal and I don't really understand your logic. The X-T5 will be the best X-T camera by a long way. If you don't want to take advantage of all the great features then that is your perogative.....but you can't say it is not worth it, because it is.

    • @ShutterFanatic

      Just my opinion so please don’t take this stuff too seriously. I think the upgrades since the xt2 have been minor. 2 things that would truly impress me. 1st is improved high iso noise. 2nd would be canon/Sony autofocus in video.

      40mpix sensor is too much for most. Large files, problems with "low res" glasses. It puts be of X-T5 too.

    • @NJM1948
      @NJM1948 10 місяців тому

      @@ArturBFPV The 40mp sensor and new processor of the XT5 are two of the highlights. This is a photographers camera, not primarily for video....which would be OK with the smaller resolution. I have not heard any photographer complaining about the new sensor...quite the opposite. The detail is superb and the room for cropping images is so beneficial when you can't get close. Large files are not a problem if you have the correct size cards (I have two 64gb fast cards in my XT5 and never had a problem) If you look at the competition to Fuji for photpgrahers, they are even bigger!! 61gb is the norm with Nikon and Sony. As for the glass - all of Fuji glass will render between 30 and 35mp on the XT5 - so will perform better than on the 26mp sensors with the older processors. There is no doubt that the XT5 is the best XT camera yet

    • @harrymacdonald

      @@NJM194840MP is too much for me, issue comes not with sd cards but storing thousands-hundreds of thousand files, not to mention needing to upgrade my Mac to work on those files, seeing as I would very rarely crop to warrant the cost of storage. For what I do 26mp is the sweet spot.
