100D PI is what we ideally like for billboards, but in some cases 20 DPI is enough, but you are correct, viewing distance is an important factor in printing resolution, however, I've never asked for less MP when printing a file :)
Liking your honest realistic approach, just picked up my first mirror less camera - X-T4 second hand and could not be happier. Subbed because we all want to get to 1000 👍
In our business we have a XT-5 and XT-3s (and older cameras) we skipped the X-T4 as Tripods work when using a slow shutter, and gimbals work for video. One thing that I am impressed by the X-T5 with is the Eye autofocus, on the X-T3 it was pretty good, but on X-T5 it nails the focus 100% of the time. We have a specific use case where we have a popup studio and instantly print to 8" x 6" so having the 4x3 crop in camera is a time saver. The X-T3s will still be used as main cameras for awhile to come
@Life is beautifully dark autofocus is fine for me, but then again I had zero issues with the 35mm F/1.4 and an XT1 :) I'm not a sports photographer so can't really comment on focus speed with moving targets
The X-T3 is still a phenomenal camera in 2023. The image quality is fantastic. And it's still quite fast. I wish it had IBIS so I wouldn't need to rig or use a monopod when trying to get family video. And I wish Fuji would put some more computational features in their cameras: Live cropping in video, time lapse right inside the camera etc. But, those aren't deal breakers and I definitely have a lot more to learn before moving cameras or systems.
Thanks Gertjan. You have answered my dilemma. I’m off to buy an XT3. So would like more videos about how to shoot both videos and still. Plus would like to see more of where you live. The surfing footage was great. Thanks Karin
I have an XS10, and I was considering the XT4 but went for the XT3 and honesty I’m in love. I thought I needed IBIS but trying IBIS out for hand held video was really a nope; and the fact that cinema cameras don’t have ibis, it really makes sense. Can the XT3 be used for cinematography? Absolutely 💯
Thank you. You just helped me make up my mind about getting the XT3 over the XS10. I've had some great used deals fall into my lap and was torn on what to get. I really wanted IBIS for once, all the cameras I've owned never had IBIS, and I thought it would be nice to have, but after reading your comment, it shows I don't need it and will be fine without it.
After the test of XT-4. Found that, for my use case, the microjitters made me turn ibis off on gimbal. Then no use for ibis, so I kept the XT-3. The only downsize is that if can't have variable apperture because of stepping exposure. However using variable iso is option. Or use manual lenses such as my Sirui 50mm or 7artisan. For photography works well with Fuji lenses. Still have my XT-3 as part of my gear.
I work for the news agency. Even today, we upload our photographs in roughly 10,5 MP. With that being said, ALL Fujifilm cameras have overkill in number of megapixels. Enough said... And BTW, if you are shooting photography in deep lowlight and want to keep your ISO at minimum, or if you are using vintage telephoto lenses without OIS, than IBIS comes really, really handy...
Honestly I love my XT3, I'm a 17 year old filmmaker and I've done all my youtube videos with it and it has suited all my needs. The only thing I would have loved to have is a better dinamic range and autofocus. But it's a 2018 camera which is still very capable of producing beautiful images if you know how to use it.
well done and I absolutely agree. I Am using the X-T3 for 3.5 years now and didn't make any upgrades because I think its just not necessary for me. IBIS is the only thing that interests me for shooting at night, but no one you uses the x-t4 or 5 for example could explain to me how big the factor is at night. like how many stops I can put the shutter speed up for example.
As a stills photographer, I am generally very happy with my XT3 and don’t plan to upgrade unless the next model, which will probably only be released in 2025, will be a massive improvement in the XT5.
High quality post, Gertjan! Love the humorous, attention-getting opening. YT viewers are sure to recognize the channel host audio bit.😊 Smart B roll and graphics, too. My sense is that folks are more cautious today about camera upgrades, in general - value vs needs. Agree? IBIS is important in my case - do mostly photo, not video; so, I opted for XT-4/XS-10. Shutter count is a standard wear/tear metric for used cameras. What is the shutter count for your XT-3? Suggestion for future YT vid (perhaps a short): how to determine shutter count for your Fujifilm camera. (Is it a factor for video?) Not a new topic, but your creative talents would make for a refreshing version. What do you think? 1K subs by New Year, for sure. BTW, what is the meaning of “
Hey Paul, Thanks for the input! I recently wanted to check my shutter count, but I'm not sure if I did something wrong, because the website didn't recognize my jpg file. Maybe the XT-3 isn't supported anymore?
Thank you the video. This was helpful. I'm getting an old xt3 at half the price of a new one and 1/3 the price of an Xt5. Was pondering over the decision of going with a new one or a used piece. I'm new to fujifilm cameras and this is going to be my first. I think I can save some money by going with the used one and put that amount in the lens. The used one seem to be in a decent condition with shutter count around 7K. The absence of IBIS in XT3 was a bit concerning for me but your video makes sense.
Could never agree more … I bought a h2s for a shooting , great camera, but right after the shooting I sent it back and kept both my RUSTY TRUSTY KICKASS XT3 … hard to beat for the money… I’d rather invest into a big light … in facts a nice Aputure 600D pro is on the way
Hi , thanks for video . I’m thinking of buying an XT 5 , but the 2 nd hand price of the XT 3 is really appealing . I’m curious. At the end of your video you suggest buying extra lenses with the money saved - you placed a Canon lens on the desk !! Any particular reason ????😊 Ps , I currently own a Canon 80D , but I find the colours disappointing .
Great insight. I have the X-T3 and love it. However, I would really like IBIS. I am a photographer not videographer but I hate using a tripod in low light situations as I find it very restrictive. I was thinking of upgrading to the X-T5 but as an amateur I don't feel like I can justify the cost. So I am thinking about a used X-H1 just for the IBIS at a fraction of the cost. What are your thoughts please?
so I've been looking at upgrading my fuji x100s to the XE4 but have been recommended to go with the XT3 instead. as you own both, what would you recommend? I will primarily be using the camera for photography.
I own the XT3 and XH1. If I had a time machine, I would probably get a good 300 euros more and buy a XT4, because video is my main focus. It has IBIS, a better battery, a slightly bigger grip and the flip screen, that you can close and use it like an analogue camera. That being said, the screen is the least important element.
Note: you don’t necessarily need high MP for billboards, usually they actually print at a lower quality because of how far they’re being viewed from
100D PI is what we ideally like for billboards, but in some cases 20 DPI is enough, but you are correct, viewing distance is an important factor in printing resolution, however, I've never asked for less MP when printing a file :)

Nowadays with tons of software you can up any photo resolution.

Lovely honest review. I am gonna be buying an XT-3 this week. I can't wait. Thanks!
I love my x-t3 and not going to upgrade anytime soon, great video by the way.
I agree with everything you said!)
fujifilm XT-3 the best Life camera
Thanks!!
Yes for sure and never I will change my X-T3! I love my X-T1 too!
Ohh you've got the OG XT-1, nice one! never used it before!
I had X T4 and hated the floppy screen. Going back to X T3 soon.

I've seen a lot of video's that were shot using the XT-3, even shortfilms. This camera can deliver a beautiful image!

I still use X-T3 in 2023 for clients. 😊
I thought the Xt-3 had 26mp not 23mp? As the Xt3 is using the same X-Trans IV sensor as the Xt4.
It has 26.6 MP
There is mistake in the utube

Good IBIS is magical but not necessary. Just like a global shutter is magical but not necessary

Is this camera an overkill for filming videos for tabletop gaming? Like capturing just boardgames on a table/cardgames on a table?
Hey! Hmm yes I think so, I might go with a smaller / cheaper model like the XT-30!

Frankly, my XT-3 is kicking my XT-5’s ass in AF (C) hit rate...very sad.📷😏.The XT-3 is definitely a keeper, the ‘5’, very disappointing.
Really?? Did not expect this!
why did you take 3 mp away from the xt3?
Because I was mistaken!
How about this or an X-T4? I'm torn between the two! haha
Really depends on your budget man! I think even a XT-2 will work just great! So hard picking the right camera 😬
Buy the X-T3 and invest in glass
Little correction xt3 has 26 mp not 23
Ahh thanks for clarifying!
How is the AF after updates?
I have to like and subscribe cuz I am also a XT3 shooter
Welcome to the channel, Josh!
Amazon had a sale of this camera plus the 18-55 kit lens for 700€. Needless to say it was the fastest purchase I've ever made.
Epic mate, that's a sweet deal!

The xt-3 has 26 mp.
X-T3 has 26MP. You erroneously state in the video that it has 23MP.
I know, I made a mistake! Thanks for pointing out tho. Have a wonderful day

Awesome! How long have you been using it?
Glass is where the “smart” money is. Camera bodies change every 2 years. Lenses will last for many years.
Why not just get very cheap and buy a Xt1 and get a better lovely film like pictures ;)
Awesome suggestion. Could work as well!
