3 Friends want to get into Bolt ACtion. One ... a short Russian... will fight for THA MOTHERLAND! One...a German Fellow...might pick ZHE GERMANS! And a Turkish Friend wants to get into IMPERIAL JAPAN! Any Tipps? I will do tomorrow a Video about how to best Choose your faction and the Pluses and Cons/ Playstyles!
Just a quick rules comment Mordian, the Ho-Ro actually gets destroyed on 3's to mortars! Open top vehicles receive BOTH +1 to Pen from the roof AND +1 to damage table, so an On Fire roll of 3 upgrades to a destroyed roll of 4
Hot take: it's the best tank option in the Japanese list. Whether you're running spear fighters or not, what you really need is something that can either distract fire from your infantry or take advantage of being left alone, and it does that very well. Add onto this the fact that, with your AT infantry options and infantry sections focused on pushing up, you can afford to leave these behind cover in the back field and not feel bad about doing so. So I really like them, even if some see them as gamey or gimmicky. But then again I run Early War Germans with a Panzer I SIG 33, so maybe I just have a type?
@@WoodImp had a similar thought myself; I hate paying points for rear-facing MMGs on very light tanks because I probably won't use it (unless I'm in a bad position), don't like the One-Man Turret rule (been burned too many times by it), and a lot of their options just don't justify their cost over and against a good artillery piece and/or infantry squads
One thing to keep in mind is a heavy howitzer can be double sized to wound and destroy the entire thing by any weapon with ap, a ho ro you have to wound and then table roll
2nd most abused unit in the game. This thing should be classed as experimental as only 2 were used in combat and less than 12 were built. This is a "that Guy" unit like the spear fighters.
@@ChrisS-fh7ztMy sources say 12 were built and only 2 saw action in the Philippines(one of which was captured) and the rest were held for homeland defense on the main island. I dont recall ever hearing about them on Okinawa.
@@redcorsair14 Okinawa had 4, Philippines had about 12 then Manchuria had 2 that got wrecked by a IL-2 strike and I think a T-34/85 shot clear through the front when the Soviets started to take over the territory behind the front. Then the rest (5) was being built in I think a cave complex between Osaka and Tokyo with 3 ready to meet the invasion forces on Honshu when the Allies wanted to invade in November to December. Reason so few numbers was first the Navy had first dibs on steel for their warships and shipping. Second trying to ship steel in was almost impossible due to the anti shipping submarine campaign that was being waged by the allies.
love the review Mordian. i liked to pair my ho-ro with a cavalry army when playing IJA. regardless of how good or hated the type 4 is, great pick in game, and you gotta review the type 3 ka-chi because boat tank, is best tank.

It's this or situationally the ss ki imo. I do sometimes wonder though if its good.. or just the other options are so awful :P

I respect the Chi-ha-tan Academy markings on Mordian's Ho-Ro.

Where is the Ho-Ro from the start of the video from? It looks totally different to the warlord and any other I've seen
