Great list, I concur the Type 97 is the best choice if you only take one vehicle. The anti-tank rifles come in handy against armored heavy Infantry in K47. BANZAAAAAIIII !!!!!
I am really glad you have included the two tank bomber units. It really did happen; I feel that at a certain point, ignoring the reality of the sacrifice disrespects the subject matter. Good on you.
The smgs thing is sort of true but the shin gunto was historically issued with a nambu pistol. Pretty much the same loadout as many wwi European officers
BANZAI!!! Keep these coming! The Bolt Action videos aimed at introduction to the game space has been amazing and I know I am really looking forward to seeing more. Can't wait to get some of these painted up and put on the tabletop! Big o7 to the music editor!
I think the medium howitzer is the best unit in the Japanese codex. I do love the micro howitzer though. I put forward and it always draws way more firepower than its worth
Great list - Type 97 is a great tank, though I tend to run the Ho-Ro Assault Gun instead just for pin generation (and with plenty of charging troops rushing the opponent they aren't as likely to focus it). I also love the little howitzer, though if I have the points I tend to take the medium howitzer with extra crew, mostly because people in my area play with veterans so it helps a lot with dealing with them. But great ideas all around!
Thing is with the guided AT weapons they take the base front DV value of the vehicle no matter where they hit look at the Goliath and dog mines and it says the same just like the suiciders. So anything but a 1 and you have a chance to either penetrate a medium tank or superficial a heavy with them since they come with a +8!!!! so roll a 2 equals a +10. Just that their range is very limited at 12" so you almost always have to have terrain or a side of a building to shield and keep them out of sight until they actually can strike. But unlike the other two where they have a fail roll 1-4 for the Goliath 1-3 for the dogs anything else is a hit so again anything but a 1 and they hit, then roll for full damage chart. The one unit I take is the Type 98 320mm spigot mortar nothing says almost a guarantee pin out than hitting then rolling a D6 for pins and adding an additional 2 to the roll so you can possibly give 8 pins to a unit! And the vehicle that I usually use is the SS- Ki engineer vehicle and upgrade it to the BO varient and so have a flamethrower on every side including the back so the possibility of running out of fuel for a game is almost non existent.
Hey Mordian! Out of curiosity, was Japan errata'd in an FAQ? If I remember correctly, the lunge mine/kamikaze units are simply +8 and ignore all other modifiers per the rule book itself, is there a more recent change about the Kamikaze units like they changed the banzai charge?
I plan on building Japan as one of my starting two armies. I really want to see your opinion on the Japanese Tankette. I wanted to pair it with a Bamboo Spear Squad. Idk.

AT Rifles suddenly become VERY good for most armies in K47.
Bamboo spear charge OP!
That's what all those spare flagpoles are for 😆
